I don’t understand the comments about screen quality it’s the same LCD/LED type with PPI. It could be the exterior glass but I am not seeing any issue with screen quality here just the scrolling issue.
You do begin to wonder about the validity of some comments. I don't doubt the thread topic, and its good to get everyone's input, but another observation is that aside from one iPad mini 6 + cellular still showing in San Francisco, the whole rest of this SF Bay Area related Apple stores is cleaned out of their iPad mini 6 stock. Amazing demand.

Yes, you need some bezel. At least on the sides.
On any other iPad I would agree, not on the mini 6. No point trying to pinch hold the device when it rests rather comfortable in one palm unless one has small fingers, thumb or palm or a combination of several.

Could also be limited stock. In my case which I ordered after announcement it seems that Apple shipped these to some warehouse and awaiting for UPS to collect and ship unlike when I ordered my iPhone 12 Pro and M1 MBA or even announcement iPad Air 4.

How does one make statements about demand without knowing the available supply?

The truth is, while Macrumors users are all up in arms over this, the vast majority of users who never set foot in a site like this won't notice and/or won't care.

I find it interesting that no one's mentioned the one thing that maybe indicates it might be software not hardware – when you open up a side list, like the list of emails in Mail, and scroll just the list on the left side, it ALSO exhibits this behavior - there's jelly WITHIN the small list, all on the left side of the screen. If it were the display controllers, I don't think this would also be happening.
Yup, i actually posted about this in the thread on this topic in the forums. It happens on any app where there is sidebar on the left hand side in portrait mode - Apple News, Mail etc, the text in that discreet sidebar (on the left hand side of the screen) slants up and down in the exact manner as it does full screen 🤔

I feel bad that some people are bothered by this so much, but it is an artifact of LCD screens since they were invented. CRT screens with progressive display also did this horizontally. The problem is that the video card is too fast for the hardware refresh. If you hate jelly scroll, the solution is more power hungry display hardware, or pure LED display, or go back to stutter scrolling with 30 FPS or lower video refresh. The cure may be worse than the disease.
Please stop acting like Apple invented jelly scroll, or that it’s new with the iPad mini. Apparently it’s more obvious there, but it’s not new. The problem is older than you are.
Then we can start complaining about the main problem with modern displays, PWM brightness control.

Please stop lying to defend your precious Apple.

I have an iPad mini 5 and an iPad mini 6 next to each other.

The 5 is rock solid scrolling my documents. The 6 looks like you’re reading on a boat in the middle of the sea.

Apple solved the problem before but this time Tim Cook thought he could push his margins even higher.

Day one demand has nothing to do with experience. Especially when Apple Inc. embargoes reviews. It’s all about reputation. The mini 6 benefitted from the fantastic reputation of the mini 5. Unfortunately it looks like the 6 doesn’t live up to the standards of the 5.

No, this is totally expected, it doesn’t matter which region of the display you scroll. It’s not the display controller per se that creates the visual effect, it’s that the underlying image-to-be-displayed changes (due to scrolling) while the screen is updating the display, hence different horizontal positions on the display end up showing different scrolling positions, creating a “slanted” look across the region being scrolled.

Thanks for the clarification 👍🏼

I have the 5/6 side by side too, and don't see anything different between the two screens.

Either you have poor eyesight or you have a mini 6 screen which is somehow not affected. You could record your screens and upload the video to see which case it is but the result is irrelevant. The problem isn’t the users that aren’t affected but the large number that are.

Great. I did not notice this issue until I was made aware of the jelly scrolling. Now I just can't unsee it anymore.

I posted a video in another thread in the iPad forum in response to being told I am either lying or kidding myself. And now I can add "poor eyesight" (20/25 uncorrected, 20/20 corrected) I literally tied every test suggested by others in that thread, and I can't create "wavy jello."

or that you don't see it ;)

Perhaps that is it, but I do have good eyesight. No matter how slow I scroll or try to replicate the problem, I’m not seeing it at all on my iPad mini. In no way am I saying that it isn’t a problem for others. It probably is. It’s possibly a widespread issue. I’m just not seeing it at all on my unit.

In my case, I’m keeping it and I’m enjoying it. Those that have an issue, please return your unit because you deserve better!!!

When you have delivery dates well into October, I think that is a good indication that it has some popularity, regardless of how many are being outputted each month.

With respect, that’s not good data analysis and no meaningful conclusions come from such approaches.

When approximately 0% of the users who placed those orders have actually used the device then it’s a good indication you’re talking nonsense.

Are you seriously suggesting the people who actually have the device in their hands and have a problem should stop to consider the problems NOT being reported by the people who will get theirs next month?

I did the bouncing line test, and can definitely see it in portrait mode on the mini 6. I did it in on my iPad Pro, and can still see it, but the lines bend much less. In regular use with my mini, I don’t notice it in the least. Definitely not a problem for me. Mini is a fantastic device!

I hadn't noticed this at all before. Thanks alot macrumors lol. It almost seems like a rubber band effect to me. I'm betting a software update will fix it.

I tried the test on the UFOtest website, and can't tell if mine is doing anything.

I'm not gonna proclaim that my Mini 6 is free from this issue, but I sure can't tell, so I guess ignorance is bliss.

My TouchID button is also free of wobbles and feels rock solid.

Man, I love this tablet. So nice for reading books.
