The iPad Mini enclosure leaks look a lot like the iPhone 5, I hope that doesn't go for QC as well.

Remember, there are millions of 5 users like myself, who have been using their devices since 9-21-12 without issues. My Black 5 was manufactured in August in Foxconn's D4 plant. It has been flawless, had no scratches, dents, or itty bitty specks of green light appearing for a split second at the bottom (L) corner of the display.

The mini is coming from the plant in Brazil. Their QC is A+ as well as their ability to honor their NDA's. Unlike their counterparts in Asia. :apple:

New math lol

----------

FYI iPad is 38.5% larger than the nexus, iPad mini is like 12% than nexus

You're making a very common error. You have to factor in the screen ratio and the diagonal size to get the total screen real estate before calculating the difference.

In fact, the iPad is more like 100% larger than a Nexus. Put 2 nexus displays side by side and you have yourself an iPad. Or, conversely, hold an iPad in landscape, cut the display down the middle and you have yourself a Nexus.

I found an article which may help:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/A-7.85-inch-iPad-would-be-40-larger-than-existing-7-inchers_id32144

7" vs 7.8" How is that 40 percent larger?
Because screens have two dimensions, not one:

7" at 16:9 = 6.1 x 3.43"
Area = 20.923"^2

7.8" at 4:3 = 6.23 x 4.69"
Area = 29.2187"^2

29.2187/20.923 = x/100
20.923x = 2921.87
x = 139.6487

Thus the latter has about 40% more area.

Did belt clips go out of style? Pocketing things is very popular but some things just need to be attached to your belt.

Men (not using a murse) should be very careful about carrying todays smartphones in their front pockets. Lot's of Data passing through important "body parts". I use a belt clip at all times.

The same goes for ladies not using a purse. :apple:

Touche, I forgot about the difference in aspect ratio.

Unfortunately, more area and less pixel density assuming a 1024x768 display. Not really helping the situation.

4:3 is so yesterday.

I believe 4:3 is great for a tablet because it's much closer to resembling the common paper ratio like US Letter. The widescreen is acceptable for a phone because a phone form factor is the classic "candy bar" to be held in a hand. Not so much for a larger tablet.

iPad 2 still sells pretty well. A cheaper, sleeker looking device with a higher pixel density will have no problem getting sold, especially against the likes of Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 as neither of them has built as good of a consumer awareness/desirability, good tablet-optimized app ecosystem, or particularly good-looking aesthetics.

Good point. I was thinking more about video.

Wow rumors of $249 make this look high.

But a good camera, screen and 16gb and it is doable.

That's way to high. I was planning on buying a smaller tablet but since it won't be my main device and just used when out and about I'll go for the Nexus 7. If this pricing turns out to be correct of course.

$249 would have been the perfect price point. $50 to still be a premium over the other 7" Android Tablets but still priced right so you choose which is best for you and not not simply buy a Nexus 7 because its cheaper.

I'm not a tablet person anyway I personally prefer working on laptop with a real keyboard anyway.

Where are people getting 8GB from? Was that spec leaked at some point? Or were the Gruber's of the world speculating 8GB to meet a sub $300 price point? :confused:

I do not think 8GB is enough space. 16GB is minimum with ever increasing App size

8GB Tablet is dead on arrival - Amazon CEO Jeff - I Agree.

Just this year only APPLE got rid of 8GB iPod touch, hopefully they DO NOT put 8GB in the iPad mini.

It's because the leaked SKUs suggested four different configurations but another rumor that came out since hints that was a mix-up with the updated iPad 3rd gen.

One thing I haven't seen yet: what if it's $329 but comes with better-than-expected internals, such as an A6 chip and an iPad 3-level rear camera? (still no Retina though) Would those make the higher price more enticing?

32GB Nexus 7 will cost $249 from October 29, iPad mini at $329 for 8GB is just too high...

the screen shot on the front page of macrumors says only 3 SKUs?

3 white, 3 black - wifi versions 16,32,64GB
3 white, 3 black - cellular versions 16,32,64

No?

This is going to be way too expensive. If it starts at $329 then I think this will be DOA.

8 GB for 249 would be ideal just because of the price even though it will have less space you can download stuff back on it.

329 oofff that is too expensive for a low end tablet.

It makes sense though. Shuffle 49 nano 149 touch 4g 199 touch 5g 299 mini 329 iPad 2 399 3 499. No prices overlap.
