I would like one, but my wife wouldnt so +50% = 108% of all ppl want one by my calculation

I'm 100% sure I want one to use 50% of the time I'd use a tablet which is 25% of my computing time.

Fantastic :D

Actually, it will probably be cheaper than the iPad 2 because the screen is smaller and the battery can be smaller. My guess is somewhere inbetween $329-$349.

Yeah, I've been saying I think $299 is a real sweet spot for the consumer, but I wouldn't be surprised if Apple fudged my "around $300" price point to be just what you indicated.

I also don't think they'd release an 8GB product, even to create a lower price entry point.

I'll assume you are familiar with Apple's standard sequential pricing. On RAM upgrades, iPads, phones, cables, etc.

Lowest prices of non-refurb related products are...
iPod Touch: $299
Ipad Mini: x
Ipad: $499

Solve for x.

If it comes out at $250, I'll cheer and order two.

I am familiar with the pricing, but I think there are two other things to consider here: competition and timing. The iPod nor the iPad really have no competition to speak of. And, Amazon and Google both make a decent 7-8" tablet at $199 that is already in the market. While not having to match that price because, well, it's Apple, Apple is late to the smaller tablet game so will need to come in closer to the others to gain some traction.

Thus my guess is $249-299 for a 8GB, non-retina screen 7.85" Ipad mini. Great for what is inteaded to do. Read, web surf, email, and keep Android out of peoples hands.

Or can spell them.

a wifi only model could be disappinting I hope it includes 3G/4G

There definitely is a Cellular version. Could very well be LTE. Hopefully the A6 as well.

The real question is the starting price for the 16g Wi-Fi. Remember, no import tariffs on the Brazil products.

I'm going to say $199. :apple:

My thoughts on the competition are that Apple is ignoring them. I really expected the iPods to be $100 cheaper this round, and that didn't happen.
I just had to!

A new iMac would be much more exciting at this point. A new Mac Pro would be even better at this point.

I'm beginning to hope that Apple EOLs all the desktop/pro models just so people stop interjecting their impatience in to threads that have nothing to do with iMacs or Mac pros.

Glad to see some people have a sense of humor about this.

But, I do not believe your 58% statement. I happen to know that 73% of all statistics are made up.

Those were clearly not made up. Simply added wrong. It's a statistically novice method to just add the percentages. What you really need to do is subtract the reciprocal of the smaller percentage from one, and then add the larger percentage divided by the total number of percentages.

So, using CORRECT math, the proper percentage is

(1-(1/25))+(33/2)=18 percent.

Now that sounds like a better number, eh?

Mini price

Except the price will obviously start at $399.

(there is no sarcasm or joking in this post)

I recall reading a rumor at one time that low end iPad mini, 16g wifi only, would be priced at $199.00. Makes sense since Apple is releasing this model to compete with the Kindle Fire among others.

Size doesn't matters, that's what my girlfriend often stipulates. I'm sure it'll turn out being an awesome product (although I probably won't purchase it)

She is lying to you. Using you until she finds something bigger. When the iPad 11 incher comes out she want it.

Something tells me Cook should have gone straight in with tripling-down on secrecy.

I did.

Always wanted the 7"-ish size.

Yeah, I want one too. The 9.7" iPad is very nice, but it's a little larger and heavier than what I would like to carry around.

The new nook HD looks cool, but the nook reader software for OS X is pathetic, and I'd rather have a (small) iPad to sync my bookmarks and calendar with my other Apple junk.

Then again, I always wanted the smaller Macbook Air until I looked at them side by side. I bought the 13.3" model after the 2011 refresh, and haven't regretted it once.

Look, im brazilian, and i'm impressed with no leak, really! hehehe

BTW, the factory city is near me about 60km... I'll go there find some leaks hahahah

Why Brazil???
Why not USA!!!!!!

Ask to your syndicates and government. I know the Brazil has a high cost to make this things, but USA has much more.

And, at last, this is why u dont pay more than 500$/unit of iPad. If they are made in US, think about 800$/unit... or more.

I guess Brazilians honor NDAs way better then their Chino counterparts. Time will tell I guess

They are probably new to this and haven't figured out that one can make money with these leaks.

Or, Engadget doesn't speak Portuguese.

BTW: For those who question the validity of an iPad Mini it is very simple
and will happen.

There are models in this market in that size range and people are buying them.
Some because they like the size, some because they like the price etc., etc.

So, if this field gets bastardized why leave it to competitors/other companies?

I think Apple would be best at bastardizing its own products. No need for Retina, but maybe a setting that can switch off the color to b/w or somehow make things anti glare ?

Besides, once iPad Mini buyers get to know the Apple infrastructure they may buy other Apple products.

Didn`t we have similar rumors before iPhone 4S launch? That some phones were coming from the Brazil plant?

I'm beginning to hope that Apple EOLs all the desktop/pro models just so people stop interjecting their impatience in to threads that have nothing to do with iMacs or Mac pros.

While I agree that Mac statements should be kept away from iOS, I appreciate the outcry over a lack of the products. The party faithful feel ignored.

I love iPad mini stories! Wow, looks like I've come to the right place to get the exact same rumor repeated every couple of days.

Can't wait to see the iPad mini story for this Thursday! Will it be a different mockup? An analysts opinion? It's like Christmas every couple of days!

it started like that, then tim cook's coke habit got out of control, and somehow a car that got turned into a time machine came into play somewhere, and...man. The downfall of apple is all kinds of convoluted.

Oh, and apple maps killing all those nuns on that bus. Can't forget that part.

lol
