I said that I wanted to upgrade shipping, and the rep said she would do it for free.
Then I called back and asked if I could order AppleCare+, they said I would have to cancel my original order and purchase it with the iPad. I had them do that and split it across two credit cards, and the rep said because we had to jump thru hoops to add AppleCare+ that he would comp me the Smart Cover that I had ordered. Then he comped me the 2-3 day shipping again.
I'm a happy customer.
So I read this after I called and got comped the expedited shipping. Guy asked if I wanted to add AppleCare and I declined, womp womp
I guess they're aware of the strangeness of the delayed launch and figure 99 bucks for AppleCare (which is literally just straight cash in their pocket, even if you need to replace at $79) and a case that cost them pennies is pretty good added-value and keeps folks happy on top.
