Received the Harber London EVO sleeve for my 12.9” today.

First impressions are good, allthough the sleeve is a little too snug to fit the iPad including the keyboard folio.
I’m sure it will loosen up in time as all leather sleeves do, so not too fussed about it.
The leather feels good and has some nice little imperfections, the stitching looks good, the felt interior looks good and keeps the iPad save from scratches.

The pencil holder, I’m not sure about yet. Even though we can magnetically attach it to the iPad now, it still makes sense to put the pencil in its holder to not accidentally lose it. I can see myself losing the pencil, attached to the iPad when just putting it in a sleeve like that.

All in all, a solid 8 if you ask me. The overal fit could be a little better but I’m sure it will in time.

I have the same in black for my 11”. Nice case, although I don’t have or use a pencil.

Do you use a keyboard folio? If so, is it also a little too snug?

Not too snug. Requires a bit of a push to get it in, but in a good way in the sense that it doesn’t feel like it will slip out.

Conversely, don’t know if you have experience of this, but I had the 10.5” with ASK, and that was way too tight a fit into the Apple leather case. Only did it a couple of times in a pinch as it felt like it was stretching and damaging it.

Requires a firm push indeed.

Had a 10.5 with ASK but never had the Apple leather sleeve, so can't really judge on that. From what I understood, the leather used on Apples sleeve felt a little synthetic? Not as premium as these Harber London ones?

You can either keep the pencil magnetically attached to the iPad or place it in the holder loop. The loop is a bit tight at first but breaks in well (it’s leather). However, if you leave the pencil magnetically attached to the iPad, it sits sufficiently below the edge of the sleeve such that it won’t get bumped off unless you either drop the whole thing or you somehow bump just the inside of the sleeve opening.

The 4th picture shows how deep the pencil sits in the sleeve with the pencil still magnetically attached, and the 5th picture shows the pencil in the loop holder.
Good to know. Thanks!

Also, since the fit of the iPad Pro + Smart Keyboard Folio make for a tight fit, do you think putting it in and out of the Bellroy Sleeve will wear down the Smart Keyboard Folio's material?

It might if you don’t break in the sides of the Bellroy, but if you break it in as I have, it’s not tight and I don’t think it will wear down the folio material any more than sliding it in and out of any other sleeve.

The Apple case was okay and I used it every single day from when it was first released. Stupidly overpriced though, and not superior to the Harbor. If anything, the Harbor feels more leathery and robust.

I ordered this 13" bag hoping the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 w/keyboard folio would fit even though it is slightly lager in width than the 2018 New MacBook Air. This is new 13" bag, not the larger 13-13.5" one that fits the old 12.9" iPad Pro

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075CWSFKX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

The bag arrived about a week before the iPad did, so I inserted the keyboard folio (that had a foam spacer in it) into the bag to help stretch the inner padding. It was initially a very tight fit, but is now just fairly snug. The iPad arrived yesterday and fits snug with the keyboard folio attached. The bag has two external pockets, the smaller has a pen holder which fits the Apple Pencil just fine.

How is the quality of the case? Looks useful. The shoulder strap pad seems to look very supportive.

I got the Apple folio case.

Pros

- Readily available

- magnets are cool

- protects the camera bump when resting the iPad on a flat surface

- long holiday season return policy

Cons

- not comfortable to use

- not sturdy when propped up in viewing position

- sharpish sides and corners

- feels like it’s made out of cheep stuff

- very expensive

- not at all protective and most of the sides are exposed

I dislike this case more than anything apple has ever manufactured. What were they thinking? Do they even care? I normally like their phone and iPad cases and find them well thought out and great to use. Are they worried that people are going to bend their iPads taking them out of a traditional rubbery case? When I say rubbery I mean the case from the iPad mini.

Anyhow I have a much better one on order. As soon as it gets here, the folio is getting returned and my iPad will be much nicer to use.

I felt the same about most of your cons, until I tried a much more protective case. The added bulk and size reminded me too much of my old 2nd generation 12.9. It took me a day and a half to run back into the arms of the Apple Folio. I think I will add a skin to the sides of the iPad, enroll in Applecare+ and just roll with it. I'm too fond of the lightness and ease of use with the Apple Folio now. That being said, a leather version wold be much appreciated. Apple, are you listening???

Does a sleeve like this fit the IPP in it that's also covered with a folio/thick case like an Otterbox?

Are you referring to the 360 or the armored case?

Check out the pics. One of them shows it with an iPad encased folio. I don’t have my sleeve from Vaja yet. So I can’t say for sure. Maybe if you didn’t put much more in it? Once I get it I’d be happy to check it out further.

I see the brown/black combo is sold out. But the all black looks sweet too.

Update:

Got notice it is on the way! I'll post pics and a review ASAP.

Do you not like the Crazy Horse iPad 2019 12.9" Sleeve??

I ordered the Crazy Horse Sleeve on Monday night, and it is already out for delivery to me today in NY.

Was looking forward to it, but not sure about one side leather and the other Felt.

I haven't used the Crazy Horse Sleeve as it is a X-Mas present to me from my spouse ;) After informing her of her good taste (yes I purchased it for myself) , the spouse wrapped it up for placement under the tree.

I'll do a cross comparison when the Vaja arrives. No notice of shipping for the Vaja yet so it may be after X-Mas day.

The felt on the Crazy Horse is first rate. It is very thick and dense. Like an expensive "boiled wool" coat. Far better than the cheapish felt on the $20.00 sleeves that you can find on Amazon. I have one of those for a comparison that I used with my 9.7 iPad.

Neither one of the cases will be really rain resistant I'm sure. I don't know if that is part of your concern about the felt.

I guess it does come down to personal taste. I think both look sharp. I have to admit that if the Vaja folks had not offered an online discount I would have had to think longer on the purchase. Shipping was expensive but the discount took care of that.

I hope this helps. Let us know what you think of the Crazy Horse when you get it. Mine has my initials on it so I had better like it!

The new Otterbox Defender is officially available for sale on Otterbox website.

https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/appl...7-60989.html#srule=new-arrivals&sz=12&start=1

The "Sign up for Updates" button changed to a Add to Cart button.

Apparently comes pencil chargeable, and a storage place for pencil.

Maybe they sold out because they’re back to a “notify me” button. I bought one from apple last month and it’s what convinced me to keep the 12.9 rather than exchange it for the 11. Back to the topic, the pencil storage is actually a small flap that secures the pencil in charging position when the case is closed.

Can you take pics of it with the Defender on the iPad.

I ended up getting the Floater Black version of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro Vaja Cases leather pouch. Looking forward to it.

Although I ordered the brown/black I think the full black is going to be stunning. Some of the pictures seem to show the upper portion of the all black case to be smooth. This would be a nice contrast with the lower portion that looks grainy. But other pics seem to show it fully "grainy". Could just be the light.

I might suggest that grain no grain combo to them. Please post pictures when you get it. I'll do the same! I check my email every day looking for the shipment :D
