I've had the 12.9" as well as the 9.7" (and now only have the 9.7" but not necessarily due to choice). I'll probably order a 12.9 IPP2 w/ Verizon Sim and be done w/ my laptop.

Honestly, the biggest drawbacks for me is a lack of mouse support in iOS, and a lack of keyboard integration in games. Solve these two issues and the IPP would become my primary computing device overnight.

Improvements I'd be looking for would be true-tone on the larger device, less weight, more base storage, force-touch, similar home button to the IP7.
12.9 iPP is my primary mobile device (replacing both my 11" MBA + iPad Air 2). I haven't found the weight to be an issue. As for true-tone, force-touch, and iP7 home button, the lack of those things haven't impeded my use in the least. But I can understand why some would want those things.

definitely agreed on the mouse thing.

Regarding mouse support, using Jump Desktop + Citrix X1 mouse on the iPP has given me a taste of what it would be like should Apple add native, global, optional mouse support to iOS. The nice thing is that it can be done in the software and doesn't require a change to the iPad hardware. But I suspect that Apple was a bit shortsighted with the smartconnector so I doubt it will be easy to add a trackpad to the ASK.

I have the 12.9" iPad Pro and love it. I usually get every other version of Apple products so although I will be very interested in what comes out I'll likely wait for one more cycle to upgrade.

Yep - and Im still rolling smooth with an Air 1 that just keeps getting the job done for me. We shall see but I doubt it.

Same here, Air 1, and only 16Gb to boot!

I 'was' looking to replace my aging 2008 MBP with a new one, however, while waiting so long for the new model to come out Ive only been using my cheap, Refirb iPad and have come to realize I don't need to spend thousands of dollars to do my computing, thank God (I wonder how many others have come to the same conclusion because of the long delay). A bigger, faster iPad with allot more storage and much better screen will be very welcomed!

So ya, count me in for a 12.9 iPP v2 come this Spring.

I think there's probably quite a big value for potential buyers even if the only change is inclusion of Band 12 LTE like the 10" Pro has...

Yup. Definitely upgrading. I usually have two iPads so I always have a backup available. Was originally planning on buying two Pro 9.7 256GB because the Air was such a dog on iOS 8. Surprisingly, iOS 9 gave it a new lease on life so only got one Pro 9.7 for now and kept the Air as backup iPad. Looking forward to upgrading the Air to a TouchID-capable model, though.

cant see why BT across the board cant be used for these simple add-ons. whatever, definitely a software tweak.

Coming from an iPad Air 2, I am definitely upgrading to iPad Pro 12.9, but i will wait for the iPad Pro 12.9 version 2....

Question is when will it launch???
My Air 2 is plenty light and thin. I also have 0 lag or slowdown on iOS 10. I don't see why you'd be compelled to upgrade except for larger screen.

If it gets 8 GB of RAM I will. Otherwise, I'll stick with the 1st gen.

Right now, with the current 4 GB of RAM, I can get 16 layers at 12"x24" (300 DPI) in Procreate. If the RAM was upgraded to 8 GB I could possibly get 16 layers at 24"x48" (300 DPI) in Procreate. This would be AWESOME!

Think I will stick with smaller iPads gong forward as in 9.7 size and just use my MacBook for bigger needs

Im hoping for 3D touch on the next iPad Pros. That would interest me. I also think a redesign in terms of a curved glass on the edges that started with the ip6 is on the table. The current chamfered edges are still the legacy of the iPhone 5 design.

Improvements I'd be looking for would be true-tone on the larger device, less weight, more base storage, force-touch, similar home button to the IP7.

I think one reason Apple may be leaving 3D/Force Touch off the iPads from a usability standpoint is that you'd have to put your hand or something sturdy behind the iPad while you're putting pressure on the screen. A phone is most often in your hand so you don't have that problem. A tablet is sometimes cradled in your arm or leaned back against your leg, but often it's held by the side bezel or standing up on a table top, and I don't think Apple wants their tablets to be constantly tilting back and flopping forward.

Just curious, what's the advantage of the new home button on the iPhone 7 to the user?

I do agree with getting rid of the chamfered edges. I like its aesthetic, and functionally I like it on the iPhone because it makes it less slippery, but on the iPad all it manages to do is hurt my hand.

If they release a matte black version I'm in. Obviously they will give it a performance specs bump .. would be great if they could lighten it up a bit

I purchased the 9.7 Pro 256GB when released. I've also got the Apple Pencil & Smart Keyboard. I won't be upgrading for at least 3 years.

This is my main device and it can cope with 100% of my computing needs, and then some!

Agreed. My computing needs for work are catered for with my pc's. All other needs (ie, general consumerism, light admin etc etc) are more than fully covered with my 12.9 Pro. Personally, if you asked me for a Pro wish list, i can honestly say anything i want is purely cosmetic.

I am eagerly awaiting the new 12.9 pro, my iPad 3 is still okay but it slows you down to the point it's easier to resort to the phone but that has a smaller screen.

Force touch, insane processor and black colour are the key things I would want.

Add to that the the pro 9.7 upgrades.

Bonus would be iPhone 7 home button and somehow haptic feedback.

On the iPad the front cam is more important than the back cam imo, agree/disagree? Anyone think they should swap them around or make them equal high specced?

Disagree. The back camera is great for scanning documents. Combination with the Pencil its a major feature.

The iPad Pro 2 12.9" is rumoured for next year isn't it? i cant see them releasing this year, it seems too soon. However if they were too upgrade the screen, 3D Touch and so on, then i would consider selling my current 12.9" iPad Pro and upgrade.

I am hoping for a good upgrade. I currently have an Air 1 and will be moving to the iPad Pro 2 12.9" whenever they release it. My wife will be coming from a Mini 3 and will probably move up in size. Our 7 and 4 year olds will be getting our older iPads. They are coming from a mini 2 and an iPad Gen 3 (the first with Retina).

While I hope they come out this year, I am afraid we will have to wait until the spring.

Going to be interesting what size options come next year. If it’s 7.9, 12.9 and 10.1 or if 9.7 remains.

As somebody who has the 7 plus, 9.7 pro and macbook I think the balance in size is about right for me. However if the 10.1 ipad pro is the only option there then I will upgrade to that I imagine.

You are dead right there, I work soley from my iPad Air 2 and iPhone because I travel allot, but am finding I am traveling a bit less now and that's why the bigger screen would be very welcome. But also as many of the really good apps like Pixilmator & keynote, numbers, pages etc etc are evolving and becoming more powerful, i am seeing a bit more lag when I am really pushing these apps, I.e when I am in the zone ;-) and multitasking between different apps and working quickly, i want everything to be ultra snappy.

Interesting I believe it. My extreme workload is just Google Docs split view with Safari, maybe with my news cast in a pop out video window. Pretty standard stuff smooth and no lag. The one app that does lag would be Google Slides, I do not think it is optimized the best.
