With what is being rumored for iPhone 8, I might wait for the changes (especially a possible edge-to-edge screen) to be implemented for the iPad line before I upgrade.

Bonus would be iPhone 7 home button and somehow haptic feedback.

On the iPad the front cam is more important than the back cam imo, agree/disagree? Anyone think they should swap them around or make them equal high specced?

I asked this earlier to another user in this thread but didn't get an answer: Just curious, what advantage does the iphone 7 home button give to the user?

And I agree they should be equal specced, on the iphone as well. I've often wished it was just one awesome camera that rotated forward or backward.

What do you do with. That device is only coming up on 3 years old. It's shouldn't be unbearable already. :(
Mine is also incredibly slow. I find it impossible to even surf in safari or chrome without frustration. Why would this iPad get this slow so fast?

For clarification, this is a 64 GB iPad Air.

It doesn't do anything new, it's solid state so there's no actual button that goes inward, which means you don't have to worry about it failing through pro-longed use like the usual home button. Maybe in future there will be swipe left and right to switch apps or no bezel.

It is because you uodated to ios 10....

You should have stayed with ios 7 or 8

Oh ok I didn't know home button malfunctions were so prevalent. Never had issues with mine.

My IPP will comfortably perform for at least two more years. Apple's hardware is "tightly" tuned to the software. I'm going ahead with buying an IPP 9.7 this week or next, rather than waiting for next release cycle. We have Apple desktops and laptops but the the main "go to" are the iOS devices.

iPad 4 is less laggy than Air 1 .I gave it to my dad when I upgraded to the Air 2. I installed iOS 10.1 and it's working fine both 4 and Air 2. Why the first iPad Air is so laggy??

Sticking with my 12.9" Pro until it dies or is too slow to use. It's thin enough, light enough, and fast enough for my needs. The upgrades needed to get me to buy a new one would need to be pretty extensive.

I am sorry but if Apple designs these iPads to stop functioning at a high level because there is a new OS update, there should be a class action lawsuit against them. The system prompts you multiple times a day to upgrade and there is no way to turn it off. It is worse than what Microsoft did with Windows 10 upgrades and they got sued (and lost).

I should be able to upgrade any semi-modern device, from Apple, to their latest without fear of it crippling my device.

And for the record, it ran sluggish on iOS 9 too.

I can't justify buying a full price iPad when its successor is coming out within 6 months. Just a waste of funds IMO. While you get six months of use, you will lose out in the long run when the new devices are that much faster.

A.) You upgraded a dated device to the most advanced version of iOS yet. It's still supported, but naturally isn't going to function as well as the latest and greatest.

B.) Have had an update waiting on my Pro for weeks, hasn't bugged me once.

C.) If you're unhappy with it, sell it and buy something else. Swappa, Craigslist, Ebay, etc all make it easy.

D.) People who lash out with "I'M GONNA SUE!" sound pathetic 100% of the time.

As for your second post, there's always something around the corner - whether 6 months or a year, there's always something new coming. If you wait for everything, you miss out on enjoying things in the present. Devices don't stop working when a new one comes out, and shockingly, keep working just as they did the day prior. You can wait, or you can enjoy something now. I choose to have a device today, and should a new one come out with features worth upgrading for? I'll sell this one for minimal loss, and get the new one. It's not difficult, and you lose next to nothing for the time you used the device.

people blame the oS. The fact is that iOS 10 is actually smoother and more responsive on capable devices. The problem is that Apple over estimated the amazing A7 and put the phone level gpu in the iPads. A iPhone 5s on iOS 10 is butter, while the Air is laggy, the gpu simply can't push the extra pixels hence why next year Apple went nuts with Air 2 adding extra CPU core and 8 core GPU, essentially 2x of the iPhone 6 gpu put together

Did I say I was going to sue them? Nope. It just smells like a class action lawsuit to me in the making.

Why should I sell my product? Apple shouldn't cripple your device if their OS is too powerful for it. Consumers pay a lot of money for Apple Products and they deserve to show that respect to people by not making their devices stutter and lag.

As for your update, I have no idea what you did. My iPad Air constantly demanded to be updated and it had to be told multiple times a day that I didn't want to do it. It was 3 screens you had to go through to tell it no.

There are not "new iPads" always around the corner. These devices are not updated very much anymore because they aren't selling. They have long shelf lives unless Apple does something like cripple the devices via Software Updates that you can't turn off. The used iPad market is not like the phone market. You cannot sell your device for anywhere close what it costs to buy the next one. That ship sailed back when the iPad with Retina came out.

Mistakes happen but for something this big to happen is more than a mistake. For a device that costs 600+ dollars, that type of mistake is seen as unethical business practices.

That's why they did it once. Apple doesn't admit it but they obviously was a mistake.

Apple should move towards a business model of an upgrade cycle program for iPads. I think it would be quite successful and maybe they did the upgrade every 2 years or something.

I will probably keep my Air 2

If the Air 1 is sluggish on iOS 10. I would imagine how it will perform next year on iOS 11. So glad that I skipped this IPad , and bought an Air 2.

Same

I will keep for 2 more years . Air 2 will be the new longevity model .It will get more iOS versions than IPad 2
[doublepost=1476192353][/doublepost]I want an 12.9 inch IPad ! In the future .For now, I am really satisfied with my Air 2 . Let see what Spring 2017 will bring to us ! I will list some pros and cons . I am not so excited to this event , let see what IPad Pro 2 will bring . But , I really don't mind to stick with my Air 2 for 3 more years .It has 2gb of ram . If they bring an IPad with an amoled display in 2018.I will upgrade in 2019 . I always get the 2 model . Yeah , I will skip 2017,2018 Ipad Models to upgrade to 2019 IPad

Partially Apple’s fault with their naming scheme, but it boggles my mind how many people don’t think it’s relevant to differentiate which screen size they are talking about. There’s a big difference in the appeal to users.

Anyhow, for a couple months in the summer I was seriously on the fence about getting a 12.9” iPad Pro, especially considering a possible refresh soon, but at this moment I no longer care. I have several 9.7” iPads and a Mini. The 12.9” would probably be cool but I can’t really justify it for my needs. Plus I’m turned off by what I hear is a lack of interest from developers in reformatting their apps for the larger screen size. I’ve seen some apps reformatted for the iPad Mini and the iPhone Plus. Developers are probably burnt out on that reformatting coupled with the relative low user base on the 12.9” iPad.

Really? Are you sure? Apps definitley need to be adusted for devices with different pixel dimensions and aspect ratios, but the iPad Mini retains the same pixel dimensions as the 9.7" iPad, and I read the Mini was made at its size and no smaller so that 9.7" iPad apps could have acceptable usability on the Mini without any adjustments from developers.
