Tbh I wouldn't care less if the iPP came out without a camera at all

Perfectly happy with my 12.9", after this screen real estate 9.7" feels like a toy

I have both and I must admit that the display on the IPP 9.7 is noticeably better. Better enough that I find it more legible than the big IPP and I find myself using it more despite the smaller size. The added color contrast in video playback seems to add more definition and depth.

Screen real Estate is so important when watching movies, I can honestly say I can't go back to watching my movies on a smaller ipad, the 12.9 ipad pro is just perfect for this and the sound quality is amazing. If you care about true tone, nice but the 12.9 screen is such a good entertainment device.

I like to watch movies on 60" plasma screen

This really sucks. I love that both models have the ability to go up to 256GB but how do you give the smaller, less expensive version the wide color display and true-tone display but not the larger, more expensive model??? Don't even get me started on how much better the cameras in the 9.7" are. WTF???

Is the answer to which one to purchase, well, if you want all the nice features purchase the 9.7"? Otherwise, wait until the fall and see if they update the 12.9" to have the same features. I have a feeling a lot of people who were waiting to see what was going to be announced, even though they wanted/needed the larger screen, are going to end up purchasing the 9.7" model or holding off altogether.

Please correct me if I am mistaken because I was ready to place an order for the larger iPad Pro immediately.

The screen is nice, but the 4gb of RAM and the larger screen make up for that. And as for the camera, really? I watched someone video take his kid with his iPad and thought, someone needs to take the iPad from the guy, not give it back, and tell him he's doing it wrong! I had the chance to return my 12.9" for the 9.7. I didn't because I like the 12.9 better.. And the 4GB ram and USB3..

It ultimately depends on what you want to use it for. For me, I wanted a drawing tablet and opted for the 12.9". The larger screen allows for a more immersive drawing experience, and the 4GB RAM provide for larger canvasses and more layers in some of the apps. I don't care for Tru-Tone as I need my colours to stay consistent, and have never used my older ipads to record a video, so I don't care for a 4K video feature either.

I've tried the Surface Pro 4, but found their stylus not as responsive as the Apple Pencil. Plus, it runs Windows.

Before I got my IPP I used to resent the fact that a "Pro"-labelled device didn't run a full OS. But after using the IPP for a while, I realized that there were sufficient pro-level apps that allow the artists to create without being bogged down by too much software. In the end, I just wanted a tablet that allowed me to draw freely and naturally without having to fight the software, and the IPP 12.9" allows me to do just that. My only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner so I could've spent more time exploring the world of digital art and painting. I'm a traditional pencil and paper kind of guy, but the IPP really opens up more worlds.

I have have had thethe 12.9 inch model Space gray 128 GB model cellular I've only use the camera I handful of times so even though the 9.7 inch model has more bells and whistles I would rather have the bigger screen Real estate to use my pencil with and the extra 2 GB of RAM the keyboard is also bigger then the semi cramped 9.7 inch Smart Keyboard case

I think that iOS has enough compromises that with the size of the 12.9, you might as well get a MacBook and have it all. With the 9.7, combined with the Smart Keyboard, it's one of the smallest, powerful portable computers you can get, and the compromises can be accepted.

Why does the 9.7" model not have usb3 speeds? Why the step back?

Was all commited to purchase as well, and they just killed it. Ridiculous.

I hear you.

Maybe, the next update. Just like the 12.9. And maybe they will up the ram to 4 GB too. The fast charging feature of the 12.9 is really nice but you have to buy the cable and power supply separately (unless you have the new Macbook, then it is just the cable). Another Apple innovation.

I have both and frankly, the only 9.7" feature that I wish was on 12.9" is True Tone display. Wide color gamut and lower reflectivity are not particularly noticeable and who cares about camera differences really.

But assuming portability is not your concern, much larger screen, USB-C quick charge, full size Smart Keyboard, and 4 GB RAM are super nice to have. Split view multitasking feels tailor made on 12.9" whereas it's far less usable on 9.7".

Too bad, I can say nearly the same for the iPad air 2......it's also one of the most smallest portable computers that's powerful lol especially for today's iOS apps....I find that I can do alot on the larger 12.9 IPP without using the smart keyboard since the onscreen keyboard is amazing and has less limitations....

I use to feel that the smart keyboard was necessary too but things have changed the more I got acquainted with the native on-screen keyboard...the IPP is first and foremost a touchscreen device and that's where it shines.

You mean it's too big for you.

I travel 8 months a year and I take it everywhere with me. It's slightly larger than a 12" MacBook but slightly lighter.

I dunno how people who find 12.9 iPP "too large to travel with" carried laptops around couple years ago
The 9.7" feels like 'babies first tablet' everytime I pick it up.

The smaller iPad 9.7 Pro is just getting better and better for me. I had the 12.9 inch with the Smart Keyboard/cover and was just too large (at least for me) to carry around and use as a tablet. One thing I noticed when I bought the Smart Keyboard for the 9.7 is that when you fold the cover to the back as if using it as a tablet, the magnet is very strong and it doesn't flap around anywhere. The 12.9 is very clumsy looking next to this guy. My personal opinion. Also, I am happy to report that the smaller keyboard just takes a bit to get accustomed to, I am typing pretty fast with it now and not many mistakes if any, then again I have a Mac if I want to do some serious paper writing. This is my #1 for preferring the larger ipp. It's literally like having 2-9.7" iPads side by side. I'm constantly running 2 apps during meetings. But, Apple, please add split-screen support to the music app already.

You are right it's too big for me as a tablet, when I travel I always will take with me the MBP 15" so as a tablet I like to have smaller one
