My silicon case is out for delivery this morning.

Smart Keyboard still shows as "departure scanned" in Shenzhen. iPad is Preparing for Shipment.

So why did you guys all prefer the 9.7" over 12.9"? I am coming from an Air 1, so multitasking is important to me. But on the other hand, I think the Pro is too big. I use my iPad for work for also for play, like reading or watching videos in bed. The 12.9" is probably just too big for that. So as a result, I feel like the 9.7" is a more versatile size. 12.9" one can basically only be used on a desk or table. 9.7" can be used anywhere.

I am a Computer Science student, so I still need to use my MacBook Air for certain tasks. So I feel like it would probably be silly to have a MacBook Air as well as a 12.9" iPad Pro.

I also like to read comics holding my iPad Air 1 in one hand and swiping with my thumb. This would not be possible wit the 12.9" Pro.

I bought the 12.9 and took it back, it was just too massive for me. Couldn't get comfortable with it at all.

You have

if I remember correctly ( this is years ago) the flight went from Cologne into London. But hey, everything is possible. Also, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one stalking these flights :D

Actually yes I think it may have been cologne to Luton perhaps? Anyway time will tell, so keep me posted on any flights you see ;)

Similar situation to you here, the pro 12 is just too big and my "workhorse" for the foreseeable future is going to be my MacBook Pro because as of yet programming on an iPad is just not optimal. Although I would love apple to put something more like OSX on iOS device! Also the fact that the pro 9.7 can support the pencil means keeping notes from lectures will be nice since computer science definitely needs some diagrams and maths equations that can be tricky to type on a keyboard. Also sketching out UI designs on an iPad will be lovely. But 12 inch is just not portable enough when you could just take a Mac with you and at the moment, for us at least, a Mac is more capable in terms of programming etc.

How do you guys feel about the keyboard being more cramped/having smaller keys?
what's the alternative? having a keyboard that's bigger than the iPad and so hangs over the edge? if you're that concerned by it, best to buy a normal case and get a bluetooth keyboard that you can carry around separately for when you need it.

Myself, i've had a number of 3rd party bluetooth keyboard cases over the years and i've never had a problem adapting to the different keyboard sizes.

Not concerned. Just wondering what others thought.

Ordered 7AM Mountain on first day, the 24th. Cover, pencil, and Verizon chip shipped and are scheduled to be delivered today, the 28th.

The 9.7 iPadPro 256GB SG WiFi+Cell's status just changed to preparing for shipment early this morning. Expected delivery date remained the same, the 31st.

Looks like iPads are showing up in people's support profiles now! Not long to go until they dispatch! This if from the UK thread by the way :)

How much are you selling it for? I have the iPad Air and have 2 different people who really want it.

You can add Apple Care after the initial purchase. They should do it for you over the phone but if not just bring it to an Apple Store.

Selling it for 400(Including Speck case valued at 30 bucks) but I also put that I am willing to negotiate on price..I do get emails from people saying they are interested, but when I email them back I never get any response. They leave their cell phone numbers but I dont feel comfortable giving my number to just anyone til I know for sure they want it

I preordered mine (with a Smart Keyboard) on Friday through our campus computer store. They expect them to arrive on launch day, so I plan to swing by Thursday morning to pick it up.

Just simply because of the size. I preferred using my Air 2 over the Pro 12.9 in all situations. That made it an easy decision for me.

I just got another email from Verizon and now my tracking is with Fed Ex with a delivery date of 3/31 instead of 3/28 as I commented above. Weird.

I bought the 12.9 and took it back, it was just too massive for me. Couldn't get comfortable with it at all.

From what I read about it, the 12.9" is good for people who want to draw or take notes, especially students. It's big enough that you can see a slide on one side and take notes on the other, for example. It's not particularly good for reading in bed, or being able to type while holding it, like answering emails or doing social media. So really the two sizes are two different use cases. It depends what you're going to be using it for.

I think you answered your own question. I think for most people it's the same reasons.
