This would be my total if I bought it from Best Buy
Product Total:
$749.99
Shipping:
FREE
Sales Tax
$67.50
Recycling Fee:
$3.00
Order Total:
$820.49

Too bad at Target they dont accept the registry coupon for electronic items otherwise that would be a great savings..but first have to unload the iPad Air 2 that I have currently, its time for an upgrade but so far not a single soul wants it
Ah, that $3 is the CA e-waste fee. It's a flat fee based on the screen size of the device you're buying. If you do back calculations, sales tax portion is 9% ($67.50 / $750). But yeah, quite a pretty penny saved buying out of state.

Carefull. Apparently the new smart covers hang off the side of the iPad with no case. :(

See my previous post, Apple's covers will hang over the edge of the device with no case unfortunately. I'm not sure if I'll get one now.

I'm kinda unhappy about this as well. I like my iPad to be as thin/light as possible, so I'll pop off the SmartCover when I'm reading on the couch. I've done this since iPad 2 days. There's a little overhang on my 12.9" Pro, but I'd rather have the protection than nothing.

I went poking around on Amazon and every "SmartCover" includes a back case/cover, which I don't want. I wish I could find a cheap cloned SmartCover that's just the cover only -- just like Apple's.

Exactly. I nabbed up some old school Zagg "LeatherSKIN"s for the original ipad, which are really high quality, really thin leather skins that cover the back of the ipad. I've had one on my iPad 3 since it first came out and it's held up amazing. A leather smart cover + a leatherskin on the back, and that's all I need. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a leather smart cover for the new 9.7 yet.

The case that I have for my iPad mini I paid under $10 form monoprice. It covers the back but pops out of the case so easy that I pull the iPad out all the time.

Hope to get something like that for the pro.

I assume the new iPad Pro 9.7 ships with iOS 9.3.

Wonder what kind of issues our new $1,000 iOS devices will come with?

Pathetic Apple.

You're almost guaranteed at least one of these "features" :

Backlight Bleed
Dead Pixels
Specks on Screen
Dust under Screen
Book Spine
Yellowish/Bluish Tint
Uniformity Issues
Mushy Home Buttons
Dents, Chips, and Scratches

This is coming from personal experience. Maybe this generation will actually be flawless? Probably not though. Even with all that I'm still considering a Space Gray 128 GB.

Morning,
I can't sleep so I figured "why not google the ups cargo flights out of Hong Kong".

I've done this before for the iPhone 5s and back then I was able to pinpoint the whole journey before I had a tracking number (YES, I am that impatient haha).

Back then it was the flight out of Hong Kong (the journey started in Shenzhen) to Cologne, Germany and from there it went over to London, UK.

Anyways,
there is no ups cargo flight today (28th) that's headed to Cologne, but tomorrow (Tuesday 29th), which will almost certainly have the preordered iPads for the uk on it. UPS cargo flight 5X 001 leaves at 5:40pm local time (Hong Kong).
If you're impatient and have some spare time you can track the flight on flightradar24 ;)

Yeah never understood the whole point of the 3 dollar recycle fee, what do they think I am going to do, take the iPad and throw it in the trash LOL..its the same fee for TV's and basically any large item, but iPads too?

Ah yes the backlight bleed, I remember when I got the iPad Air(the 1st one) I was so obsessed about the stupid thing that when I went to the Apple Store to buy the iPad, after I had already purchased it, I asked them if I could go into a dark room to make sure there is no backlight bleed so I went into their closet LOL yep, it was a bleed, so I got another one, tested it again and it was fine..geez I hope that doesnt happen this time around

But there are people who do just that. Not right away obviously but when the device is too old to be useful. There's a bunch of electronic waste in CA landfills.

I guess Im just not one of those people. I see something old, and I try to sell it, like the saying goes one person's trash is another person's treasure. Heck I got a 10 yr old printer here that Im trying to sell too I would never throw it away. For the iPad Air 2, its only two yrs old so eventually someone will want it. Have gotten plenty of emails regarding it, but when I write them asking if they want it they never respond, really hate that, I mean why email the person if you dont want it makes no sense

How much are you selling it for? I have the iPad Air and have 2 different people who really want it.

I don't see why not. Try chatting with them and that might be faster. I know it might be a longer hold time to call apple cause of the 9.3 issues.
You can add Apple Care after the initial purchase. They should do it for you over the phone but if not just bring it to an Apple Store.

I must admit I was looking at the arrival in to East Midlands airport yesterday ;) that will almost definitely be the place our iPads enter the UK. Flight tracking is all part of the fun!

See my previous post, Apple's covers will hang over the edge of the device with no case unfortunately. I'm not sure if I'll get one now.

I used an iPad mini 4 for a while. I've ALWAYS just used a smart cover with my iPad (going back to the iPad 2). Love that simple setup. But with the mini 4 and this new design for it to hang off the edge by 1mm or so (I guess to line up with the rear silicone case), it drives me crazy. So disappointed.

Have you guys used the silicone case by itself before? How is it? I just can't get myself to buy it for $69 even though it's got good reviews..

I originally bought both the rear silicone case and front smart cover for an iPad mini 4 when I was travelling with it.

I do love the feel and quality of the silicone case, and if I wanted to use a case of some sort I would definitely use that one. I think the idea is great how it can pair with a smart cover. However, myself personally, I prefer not to use a case of any sort - the newest iPads (mini 4, Air 2, 9.7" Pro) feel incredibly thin and light at 6.1mm. Adding those cases just made them feel significantly thicker and heavier for day to day use.

I sometimes remove the front cover and just use the back and it works fine. You do not need to buy the front cover if you do not want to. I like it that the front and back are two separate parts now.

If you look on Apples website now it's showing all iPad Pro 9.7 models as shipping in 3-5 days or more, no more launch day delivery available apparently ... Does that mean ours will ship today?

I'm really hoping for some movement today. I just want to be able to track my iPad! :D

Well if a cargo flight is leaving tommorow and (if) or iPads are on it, we will probably see a UPS label created tonight whilst our orders are still preparing. So have a check of the UPS track by reference page, you can often see that an order has shipped even before Apple tell you!

Now it's the smart Cover that's messed up. Why Apple?

Always something with these clowns.

None because we aren't getting an iPad 2. I'm on 9.3 on my Air currently and have no issues..
@heyyitssusan

Really, eh?

if I remember correctly ( this is years ago) the flight went from Cologne into London. But hey, everything is possible. Also, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one stalking these flights :D
