True. But for me, it was like:
iPad 1 -- Finally, an Apple tablet! Must have!
iPad 2 -- much lighter and thinner, camera. Must have!
iPad 3 -- Retina! Must have!
iPad 4 -- Faster, but it's only been 8 months since I bought iPad 3, and what's this Mini? Guess I'll try the smaller size one instead. Skip!
Air 1 -- Much lighter! smaller! Must have!
Air 2 -- slightly lighter, faster, hmmmmmm. Oh, boss lost his iPad and wants to buy my Air 1! Lucky! Buy! Probably would have skipped it otherwise.
Pro 12.9 -- Bigger screen! Buy!
Pro 9.7 -- TrueTone seems nice, but not going back to smaller size. Skip.

So that was a long winded way of saying iPad 4 was, to me, the least impressive iPad upgrade, and the only one I skipped. Pro 9.7 I think is a great upgrade from the Air 2, but I've simply moved on to the 12.9 size.

That is hilarious, I went through just about the same upgrade cycle for the same exact reasons. I was very skeptical when the original came out, but the Apple Nerd in me ordered it to try it out. I remember they allowed for preorders for pickup in the store then a week and a half later released the cellular versions, I traded in my wifi for that and loved it.

Only difference was I skipped the Air 1 and upgraded my Mini to the Mini 2 for the retina, and skipped the 12.9 and went the to 9.7.

I was really disappointed with the 3, and the 4 REALLY annoyed me because it appeared Apple screwed that one up and fixed it quick with the 4. Releasing the Mini made up for it at the time.

I've said it before though, this 9.7 Pro is the device premiering features I had been wanted all along.

I sold my iPad 2 32gb for $ 180 and now I have no iPad.

My options are get an Air 2 64GB (WiFi only) refurbished by USD 419 plus tax or an IPP 32gb WiFi for USD 599 plus tax.

But I live in Brazil and if I buy more than 500 dollars in electronic devices I have to pay fees equivalent to 50% of which exceed 500 when I return to my country.

In short:
- Air 2 64gb = 419 x 1.07 (FL sales tax) = 449;
- IPP 32gb = 599 x 1.07 = 641 + 71 (tax Brazil) = 712 USD.

Apple pencil has no use for me. It is worth 263 dollars more to bring the iPP instead of Air 2?

Definitely not, not even nearly worth that kind of excess. The Pro has some nice new touches and a bit of a performance boost. But seriously, the Air 2 is a very, very good iPad that will last you as long as the Pro would.

Save the money, don't even consider an iPad Pro, get an Air 2.

(I'm a Pro owner, and a previous Air 2 owner so I'm not biased. Not that I would be anyway.)

I would say the iPad Pro is perfect if you have use for the pencil and accessories made smart connector (currently the keyboard). If you have no use for those, this would probably not be worth the extra $$, this is a perfect scenario where the Air 2 holds its own.

I've been getting the newest 9.7" iPad at release for several generations but skipping this gen Pro as waiting for:
- 4GB RAM
- force touch
- faster Touch ID
- no protruding camera

i think what's interesting is if ipad is truly a laptop replacement, how long before we can start choosing the specs? Choosing how much ram you want, the type of camera you want?

When you mention the iPP now, no one can tell whether it's a 9.7" or 12.9". On these forums and elsewhere I've seen posts having to clarify this repeatedly. It's very.... Un Apple-like IM
Wouldn't this hold true for most of their product lines though.
iPhone (Regular/Plus)
iMac (21in/27in)
Watch (38mm/42mm)
MacBook Air (11"/13")
MacBook Pro (13"/15")
And now:
iPad Pro (9.7/12.9)
We kinda are used to clarifying these already, don't know why all the sudden this should be different because it is an iPad?

Admittedly this is more of a perceived expectation thing.

iOS devices have long been known to be differentiated in form factor by name.

The iPhone Regular is the iPhone Regular (3.5" => 4" => 4.7").
The iPhone Plus is the bigger 5.5" iPhone.
The iPad mini is the 7.9" iPad
The iPad (Air) is the 9.7" iPad
The iPad Pro is the 12.9" iPad.

Now the iPad Air has magically vanished and apparently been replaced by an iPad Pro? So the question is, will there be an iPad Air 3? And if so, how exactly is it going to be better than the iPad Air 2 that isn't already done by the iPad Pro 9.7"?

Given how people haven't upgraded their iPad 2 even after 4+ years, it's not surprising at all that there's no perceptible improvement going from the Air 2 to the Air 3 (going to ignore Apple marketing terminology).

Apple hasn't really introduced anything new with the Air 3. The iPad Pro, on the other hand, is a very significant change, right down to the form factor.

Heck, at the very moment, the iPad Pro is much better value with the all around discounts. You can even get 20% off the full sized smart keyboard + pencil @ AT&T.

Do u have a link to the Apple Pencil?

I've only had my iPad Pro 12.9 for two days now but I love it so far. Way better than I expected.

I originally preordered one to replace my iPad 2. (Yes, the iPad 2. NOT the iPad Air 2.) However, I canceled because I thought having an iPhone, Watch, and MacBook was already a lot, and really wouldn't need an iPad since the MacBook is my primary device. On the other hand, I want it just because my iPad 2 is due for an upgrade.

Just used mine (9.7) in class for notes. Literally the first time i've handwritten notes in over a decade.

The machine is a dream.

Careful, when you say nice things about it around these parts you're forever branded as an apologetic iSheep ;)
