You don't have to trust him/her. I've seen him/her multiple times on this forum make dubious claims about the availability while sounding as if s/he were absolutely certain, but s/he has absolutely no source to back them up.

I just assumed they were just trying to think positively. lol

I just wish apple would just outright say look...its coming out on this day, you can pre order it on this day at this time...WHY IS THAT SO HARD OR SECRETE...

me personally i am already sold on the product and fully plan one way or another on getting one ASAP! THAT SAID, it makes a ton of sense for apple to realize that, and say to potential costumers the date and time when i can pre order and purchase one and not keep us in the dark!

Other companies say a product release window and usually a few weeks before that window begins they have dates and times available. Hell microsoft announced the date the surface would be available at retail and pre orders in there keynote. I really wish apple would do the same as people often need to budget accordingly to purchase there products. I mean yes we know the price of it, but people like me have to plan out ahead of time!

Me2 mate me2...

Hopefully Apple wont screw it up like they did the ATV "Pre-order"
How did they screw up? I pre-ordered and got mine when they said I would. So did friends of mine and lots of other folks on the forums here.

Here is the verbiage from the original 9 to 5 Mac post.

"Apple plans to start selling the 12.9-inch iPad Pro on Wednesday, November 11th via both its physical retail and online stores, according to multiple sources."

To me this says no preorder.

I think the whole "pre-order" is on the way out. Too many people double ordering and sending one back. Get people to the stores is a pretty good strategy.

I think we will get a pre-order later this week. I picked up an ATV4 easily in the store after launch day but I feel the iPad pro will be a little bit more
difficult and will probably order as soon as possible.

If it is the 11th then Apple will probably make some kind of announcement this week. I would assume that they will allow pre-orders, they did with the new Apple TV and they will probably go live on a Friday or Tuesday.

And then (like with the Apple TV) you will get your pre order, delivered, after it becomes available in the store. LOL

I actually think the opposite - pre-orders should be the standard and stores come later. having a trustworthy pre-order system is the best way to go, people double order because it's a horrible system they put in place..

By opening it up for pre-order on a Monday without announcing availability in stores. When they announced a couple days later it would be available in stores that Friday it was already too late for those who pre-ordered to cancel their orders because they were already "preparing to ship" even though they ended up not shipping for another 4+ days for some people.

So the end result is people who ordered early ended up not getting their units until 5 days (mine still won't be delivered until tomorrow) after they were available in store (and even Best Buy) without even being able to cancel.

I'm trying to think of the downside of this scenario. Let's say you pre-order several days in advance, then before your device arrives, it becomes available in-store. At that point, you buy it in the store and when the one your pre-ordered arrives a few days later, you return it (unopened) to the store.

Either way, you're covered, right?

This seems sort of definitive. The fact they say both retail and online sounds like more than a rumor.

But then again, BS grows on trees

I wish we could just get a solid answer....

Not that it matters anyway I guess. I have to wait until the end of November.

UPDATE! FRONT PAGE!

Now to confuse matters, they are saying the 13th, but 'may' accept pre-orders earlier.

This is exactly the type of vague rumor I come here for.

Kudos :)

Or it was a typo. 11th is still the only rumor as of now, Cue did say only a couple more days whatever that means.

MacMall just updated their iPad Pro page with models and accepted my order today. (Don't get too excited – their estimated ship date was November 30, so I've no assurance they can even announce the release date yet. But that's still a development versus yesterday.)
