I'm quite surprised but I really think they are keeping the hype down because there really isn't many to go around......
I was thinking the same, recent reports have said that Apple only ordered around 2 million for this year! Other reports have said Apple wanted to order more but because of the screen size those that are making them have had trouble making the amount required.
People on here are really underestimating how in demand these things will be. Yes the price is high but when does that stop the Apple crowd?
People are going to be looking for these as gifts for the holidays...... The keeping up with the joneses crowd..... People who just really want a bigger iPad to replace a old one, etc.

Edit: That price doesn't stop the Cintiq crowd either. A decent percentage of the creatives are interested in this thing, and we're used to spending $2-3000 or more on Wacom's laggy tablets. In that world $800 gets you a non-portable Cintiq 13HD without a touch digitizer.

I just can think that Apple not release any pre order or in store sell because.Apple don't have any real quantity to ship yet.
Lots of reasons. Some people doing want to have to tie up the money. Some people don't live close to Apple Stores, so returning is more difficult. Some people don't want the hassle of having to ship it back if Apple store isn't even an option.
All this could have been avoided if Apple was 1) more forthcoming about when it was going to be available in store (and BB) and 2) shortened the window on when no changes could be made to the order. Mine was ordered Monday AM, and then locked Tuesday even though it didn't ship until Sunday.
iPad 4 was a real mess. "Hey guys, we just released a new iPad 6 months ago. Here's another one...and oh by the way it's available now."
I'll wait at the apple store tonight. I'm sure there are lines of people waiting for this.

I'm holding off on the iPad Pro until I get to play around with the one my uncle ordered. If I hadn't bought the Air 2 last year I'd def be getting the pro.
I'm a bit frustrated with the fact that Apple has started to make the 6s Plus more than just a bigger screen, and there is zero reason they couldn't have put OIS into the 6S. I guess I will just have to buy a 7 Plus when it comes out.

ok lets say this is true and it comes out next friday. When will apple have a pre order cause i prefer to order/pre order it directly from apple cause i have an account with them already and if there sold out at these stores, logically its just that stores stock right?
Good for you! But I'm stumped why Apple isn't doing a pre-order, or for that matter AT&T.
I'm pretty sure other stores got a very limited supply to sell right now while Apple themselves will have a lot more.

I'm guessing Monday Apple will take orders and shipments will start on the 11th and then get to people on the 13th. Either way it's probably just a week away, (still rumors) but I doubt we are far away from actually having it come out.

MacMall is taking pre orders.
I just pre ordered mine. 128, wifi + Cell, gold, with a keyboard. They said it will ship on the 15th, and I paid $14 extra for priority shipping.
If I can get it sooner from Apple, I will, and then cancel this order.
Edit: It looks like on my credit card charge, I paid $40 for priority shipping, not $14. The guy on the pone had a heavy accent.
