I just ordered from macmall to save tax and won't fret about it any longer. It'll show up when it shows up.
I'm not that patient. Not that Im the kind of person that needs to get these Apple products on the first day, but my current iPad 2 is running so slow it is torture to use. I have been holding out on getting a new one for 6 months so I want this ASAP.

I want to pre order one from one of these 3rd party sites, but for what ever reason i just don't trust them. I really just want to get one asap directly from apple that way i know for sure they have them in stock, and if they don't, they kinda have the capability of building them.

For all we know these 3rd party stores could be just selling pre orders to stuff they don't even know for sure they will have in stock! I just wish to god apple would announce a pre order or order date already, it would relieve a lot of anxiety

I also preordered from MacMall for a Space Gray 32GB model. The actual product page still looks exactly the same with a "mid-November" shipping date and text that says the product normally ships in around 8 days.

But I just got an email from them that says this:

"This is to inform you that there has been a change in the delivery date for the orders that you placed on November 6, 2015 (Order# ********):

Previous estimated arrival date: November 18, 2015 - November 25, 2015
New estimated arrival date: December 3, 2015 - December 10, 2015

Please note that you will only be billed for items that have shipped. You will receive corresponding shipment information as the remainder of your order ships. To check the status of your order, you can go to Order status by clicking here."

Needless to say, I'm not happy. Obviously this is all speculation since they don't even have the products themselves yet or know of an actual release date, but the main reason I ordered was a consideration of a few days later shipping vs not having to pay any taxes. If the arrival date is now possibly a MONTH after when Apple could have it to me, I'd rather pay a little more to have it at release. But of course, as soon as I ordered they did a preauthorization charge so I have to wait at least a few days for that to even drop off before I could cancel the order and again, it's possible Apple preorders could have been announced or it could even be on sale by then and the money will still be tied up.

see this is why I'm paranoid and hesitant about buying anything from a 3rd party when the first party hasn't released an official launch date.

I've had this happen to me before. Your desperate to get the new item, a 3rd party store comes along and says hey...buy it from us, we'll have it. So you do and next thing you know, you'll get it, AFTER everyone else gets theres from the first party. Why? because they don't know themselves when its coming out, they sell you on a promise, they tie your money up and delay it and then eventually you will get it.

Its BS pure and simple. Don't get me wrong Apple aint helping the matters by not saying anything to anyone! All apple has to do is put out a press release saying date and time you can pre order or just purchase...people can plan it out, budget accordingly because most of us don't have a spare 1000 bucks laying around we can spend on a whim, and have to plan it out, but lately there not taking that into consideration.

It should be a rule of thumb that when you announce a product you should also announce a launch date. Everyone else does it, apple just gives vague timeframes lately and its counter productive and stuff like this happens!

Its totally not fair to the people who want it and get it from 3rd parties who pull BS like this, and its not fair to us checking the website and chasing down every single rumor out there to figure out when we can finally purchase the dam thing!

Last night Staples gave a release date of 11/11, now it is 11/25 for all the models they list.

This could indicate Apple has pushed the release back.

I think it's more likely that Apple keeps the first wave of iPads to sell themselves and delay the delivery for third party resellers.

Maybe Apple have underestimated the demand, if they have only made a certain amount they may have now realised that they will sell out faster than they previously thought.

I preordered thru B&H as back up in case they aren't easily available at the Apple store on launch day whenever that is.

I don't know if its because Apple still hasn't given us a date but I'm more excited about the iPad Pro than I was the iPhone 6s.

I received my email from Macmall this morning too with a new date of December 1-3.

Wondering if I should cancel or let it ride to see if I can get one from Apple first before doing so.

Dealing with a third party for Apple products is the pits.... Especially a product that doesnt exist. I think Apple shouldve waited until all their ducks were in a row before announcing the iPad Pro. If you cant release the product right after the announcement why bother? If you arent sure when or if you can deliver better to not say anything.

I don't know what the big deal is. You can always cancel your pre order. I don't think it will be that difficult to get one from Apple, but if it is, you at least have the 3rd party as a backup.

Glad you posted this. I suspected that other retailers would be shipping/delivering the iPad Pro later than the availability from Apple. It didn't make sense (seeing other rumors/posts) that Apple would allow other retailers "get the jump". I, also, would forego the slight discount (from Sams Club or MacMall) to get it when I want it . . . which is either at launch or as soon as I can acquire one.

I feel ya! I have the original iPad Mini. Not only is it running slow and doesn't run some apps, it's not periodically freezing on me. I've tried to resolve the problem including doing a complete restore to no avail. At this point in time I'm not looking for any solutions to revive my iPad Mini. I'm focusing my time and efforts into getting that iPad Pro ; )

Cue already announced few more days. Apple won't delay now.

chances are these stores have oversold their initial order and now delaying it awaiting more shipment.

Wifi models should be easy to get, the one cellular would be the hardest to find item this Christmas

I'm getting me a space grey 128 gig wifi model and a pencil and thats it. I can't afford no more after that till december. I have no need for the cell model. The thing most likely will never leave my house and i got an iPhone and watch with me at all times.

Im still debating the keyboard case and going to wait on reviews for that. It looks kinda cool, kinda meh at the same time. If they make a red one and a version where you can protect the back of the unit or if it will still work if i get an otter box case for it, then ill consider it but its $170 bucks for a keyboard at the end of the day and for that price it can wait a while if at all based on reviews

For me at least, the big deal is that in preordering one from MacMall, they did a preauthorization charge of nearly $800 on my bank account. This is the kind that drops off in like 4-5 days, but even if I cancel I won't have access to that money until the charge drops. I can't just turn around and order a second iPad Pro because I don't just have an extra $1600 in my bank account I can let be temporarily held.

I have a Logitech solar keyboard that's made for iOS devices. It even has a Home Button key. I use it with my Otterbox.

I suspect you're right about having oversold the original order. Apple has probably told each retailer how many of each model they can have, and they're taking orders based on that number; later orders get later "shipping" dates although I'd bet they really don't know how many they'll get - just how many they ordered.

If I'm Apple, I overbuild on the WiFi models, figuring most folks live with near universal WiFi and if you're away from the hotspot, you tether. Me, I really prefer the convenience of the cell models. We'll see...

I don't have a problem with stores overselling and adding people to a back order list but they need to actually tell you that before you order. This is the product page for MacMall as I type this. It still says "shipping mid-November" and "shipping in about 8 days". Don't tell customers that and then email them saying "Sorry, you now have to wait until the middle of December".

I totally agree. Be honest with your customers. I've seen MacMall do this before and thats why I avoid buying from them unless there's no other option.
