For me at least, the big deal is that in preordering one from MacMall, they did a preauthorization charge of nearly $800 on my bank account. This is the kind that drops off in like 4-5 days, but even if I cancel I won't have access to that money until the charge drops. I can't just turn around and order a second iPad Pro because I don't just have an extra $1600 in my bank account I can let be temporarily held.
OK, I stand corrected. I think most people order by credit card, in which case this isn't an issue.

Barring special circumstances, like yours, my statement is still true for the majority of customers.

Cue already announced few more days. Apple won't delay now.

chances are these stores have oversold their initial order and now delaying it awaiting more shipment.

Wifi models should be easy to get, the one cellular would be the hardest to find item this Christmas

Why do u say that? I would think wifi is most popular? Most people would just tether their phone instead of getting a LTE model I would imagine?

Best buy now has them listed on their site., just search ipad pro. can't buy it... says coming soon for online and in store pickup.

Thanks, you saved me from checking today online with them which I have been doing each day cause that is where I'm buying from. 18 months interest free and January 15th to return.

Now awaiting preorder availability which may not happen, just first come first served.

I'm getting me a space grey 128 gig wifi model and a pencil and thats it. I can't afford no more after that till december. I have no need for the cell model. The thing most likely will never leave my house and i got an iPhone and watch with me at all times.

Im still debating the keyboard case and going to wait on reviews for that. It looks kinda cool, kinda meh at the same time. If they make a red one and a version where you can protect the back of the unit or if it will still work if i get an otter box case for it, then ill consider it but its $170 bucks for a keyboard at the end of the day and for that price it can wait a while if at all based on reviews

Buy the keyboard from Best Buy, you will have till January 15th to return it so you can get a good idea if you need/want it.

Perhaps if you cancel it right away. Your funds will be available when Apple's iPad Pro drops.

That's not how authorization holds work, at least with my bank. They stay there as pending charges for 4-5 days at least regardless of whether the order is cancelled or not. I had someone get into my Walmart account a couple weeks ago and try to ship a $100 gift card to the other side of the country. Luckily I saw the email as soon as they ordered it and was able to log in and cancel it, but it took almost a week for that $100 charge to disappear even though the order was cancelled two minutes after it was placed.

Oh my . . . . sorry

I just went to Mac Mall. They now say 'Mid November' - smart. An improvement on what we've been seeing.

I don't remember which Ipad, I think is was the 4 that was announced and went on sale the same day without preorder (and not the usual annual cycle Ipads follow for a release, a complete surprise).

So one never knows with Apple. Who knows if there will be a preorder, the same thing might happen with the Pro.

If I remember correctly the iPad 4 was released not to long after the iPad 3, because people complained that it was to soon after. Apple probably didn't make a fuss about it because of annoying people. The iPad Pro may be getting the silent treatment simply because Apple doesn't think that many people will buy it, let's not forget Apple are not aiming it at the average consumer, it's more like the creative and business side of things.

I guess the difference here is that Apple announced the iPad Pro way back in September. To be honest I don't care if there's a preorder just give us an availability date.
