Wrong. Many folks here trash everything Apple does, doesn't matter good or bad. This site is so overrun by negativity it will kill a baby spirit to read through the first 2 pages of the comment section.

In the good old days it was only kittens that suffered.... oMg now it's baby spirits! The HORROR!!

They'll keep messing around with them as long as people have got heavy lifting to do. Show me how to rip a Blu Ray and convert it to MKV on an iPad uumm Pro.

As a round number, the percentage of potential Apple customers who really care about those two formats when not at their desk might be pretty close to zero. Not enough to build something other than the Mac Pro (which Apple still sells).

Well from what I see on these forums there are still plenty of Mac people who want a computer and don't really need another iPad regardless of whether they need to convert movies or not. There are a huge number of other reasons people need computers but that's largely lost on the iPod crowd.

Yeah, there are rent a mac in the cloud and such, but I think it would more of a success if apple decides to do it large scale with a good price. With a kickass Virtual Desktop assistant installed as standard on ipad.

This is a Rev.A product. Give it three months and there will be plenty of optimized software.
It will take longer for developers to optimize true desktop power apps. Unless you want the continuation of watered down mobile apps?

I also think the poster was talking about the fact ios Itself isnt optimised for big screens.

Unfortunately the pro moniker sounds a little confusing. Maybe the iPad plus?!

I am sure a few thousand hours were spent over the large iPad product name. Here are a few that were considered according to a mix of grapevine and bar talk in the South Bay.

iPad Max
iPad Plus
iPad Total
iPad 5
iPad 100
iPad Shingle
iPad Partner
iPad Slate (yes, copyright concern)
iPad Clipboard
iPad Ultimate
iPad Steve (yes, a tribute name)
iPad Wedge
iPad Professional (full spelling)
iPad Exchange
iPad Wonder (a bit granola)
iPad DaVinci, etc. (a series based on the Renaissance artists)

but it's Windows and it sucks.
It does suck
(its windoze, that goes without saying),
but at least its a full computer.
Unlike the iToys we keep seeing Apple dump out. When was the last time you could run two things in two windows like a desktop computer in iOS? Never.
Apple needs to start making REAL computers again. Not gimmicky toys that don't serve any purpose other than "hey, the Apple diehards will gobble this shiz up and make us a ton of cash".

So you want a laptop? Good thing Apple still makes those.
The point is Apple isn't innovating anymore. They're picking over the bones Jobs left behind.
The iPad was a hit...make it bigger.
The iPhone was a hit...make it bigger, or, uh, make it different colors. Yeah, that'll get the rubes to spend their cash.

Apple should have had the next level of computing out there years ago. Like the modified MacBooks that had integrated wacom screens built into them that the Woz endorsed years ago. By now they should have been the standard in laptop computing. Instead, we just get reheated leftovers with a higher price tag.

Kinda too big don't you think? Size does matter to some people. Why do you think more and more are opting for the Mini instead of the standard sized-one.
Well, size and price tag. Apple is still pricing their gear as if it's still the 90's and they're a struggling company. Which is just spitting in our faces insulting at this point.

it is an iPad ... strange enough it actually is called IPAD ...

Microsoft isnt demonstrating much, since Surface aren't exactly an huge commercial success ....

yep, Apple si doomed ... wait ... in the 90's Apple was verging bankruptcy while today they are sitting on a mountain of money ... you should improve your analyst skills.
In the 90's Apple was priced high to compensate for their tiny market and struggling nature of the company. Today they are one of the richest companies in the world. YET, they still price their gear as if they are still in the 90's, but without the innovative gear. Instead the just prey upon the rabid/vapid Apple fans that simply must own the latest iPhone/Pad/whatever.
Crooked business models don't change the fact that the company is an idea desert and their tech is as stagnant as a puddle of water in an old tire.

Unless Intel steps it up then Apple is about to race past them on the low powered devices. It's getting harder and harder to justify Apple using 400 dollar intel chips when they can do it in probably a quarter of the price at the most.

They'll never go for more cost effective parts. How could they bilk us out of our money if they actually built these things honestly?

There's nothing stagnating in Apple 's technology. Basically everything they make has a commercial success...
But their pricing policy is upsetting, especially if you live outside US.
The iPad pro is priced about €150 more than it deserve.... maybe more.

Great hardware, terrible iOS. It's almost like apple doesn't understand users' needs. A ferarri with $100 tires. A concord jet plane with 1/4" tank capacity. A motorcycle that has 85mpg but gas distance of 50 miles.

When will apple get that you cannot fit a square peg in a round hole and look great doing it? Anyone who buys this has too much disposable income and in its current iOS 9 form a complete waste of hardware.

None of these reviewers dare offend Apple by saying the iPad pro sucks. It's so biased these reviews just call it out for what it is! An oversized iPad air! iOS really shouldn't be used in any other form than on a smartphone.

Really? I run the whole office suite and iCloud drive through through my iPad as well as play a bunch of games on iOS. This guy is a huge leap for me in terms of operability, screen space, and gaming performance. I don't need OSX and really dislike desktop interface. This iPad is essentially the best laptop replacement you can find. If it ran OSX, it wouldn't br a laptop replacement anymore, it would just be a laptop without a keyboard.

I was saying there's no reason they can't make OS X more of a touch OS.

They did, quite some time ago. Which is why when the iPhone launched Apple said it runs a version of OS X. They stripped out the UI, made changes to make it more mobile efficient and touch friendly and eventually renamed it as iOS.

I'm not saying iOS is perfect, but it is a great solution for a mobile device. What needs to change is the software companies release for the iPad Pro. It's already shown its got the power to perform. The good old "Think Different" is very well suited to the iPad Pro's current situation.

I've been using mobile and then hybrid, followed by more mobile and then another round of them trying hybrid operating systems since the days of Psion and iOS is still my favourite of the bunch (although I did love my old Psion Series 7)

Actually the Surface Pro 3 sales numbers are pretty good considering there are lots of different manufacturers of Windows laptops. Apple has a monopoly on Mac OS. Tablet portion may not be as good as the iPad, but for me personally, I just read PDFs on my tablet, so I don't really need it to do too much besides that and email and web browsing.

But your last sentence was pretty hostile. I want to do the minimal tasks that I do on a tablet, but also have the laptop to do the big things that I do. Surface Pro 3 is pretty awesome for that, but I also just want Mac OS... so I stick with a MBA and an iPad 2 Air. Wish I could just have one device.

You're own assertion was way over the top and deserves the response;
I'm pretty tired of people coming here and praising something I was forced to use for work for a while and was a pretty bad experience!

Surface line has been a major money pit for microsoft; sales through dumping is not a good place to be.

As for the tablet portion, even the surface 4 online forums are filled with bad experience and yeah, no app.
So, why not just buy a great laptop and a great tablet instead of having a crappy experience with both.
The cost will be the same.

Your assertion is way over the top and deserves a response. The surface line is not a money pit and is profitable for Microsoft. The initial RT variant was a loser, but Apple has its share of losers in the past too. That is business, you win some and you lose some.

As for the surface pro 3 and Surface pro 4, people love them. It is a joy to use for me. Are there people who hate them? Of course and there are people who hate iPads. Hell, hold the iPad Air 2 too firmly and the screen distorts for from pressure on the back. Countless complaints of screen coloring, uniformity issues are all over. Have you ever visited the apple support forums? Ever glanced at how many recalls Apple had to initiate because of QC issues? Apple makes excellent products as does Microsoft. You should really learn to divorce your emotional investment in Apple.

So you mean the iPad Pro beat Intel integrated graphics? WOW! That's a pretty damn high bar to beat!

What's sad is that Apple cares more about the GPU on their toy iPads than they do their professional Macbook lines. But then we all know they don't give a crap of they would have updated OpenGL to the latest standards ages ago (and no Metal doesn't replace OpenGL fully, especially in its current state).

To those that think Macs in general should move to ARM, consider some of us (me for certain) GONE if they do so. We would lose all the benefits of Intel compatibility (easier ports of applications and games from Windows and the ability to boot into Windows if needed). It'd be like going back to early PPC (when they didn't suck compared to Intel). No software library. No games. WTF good would a marginal improvement in CPU speeds (if any existed at the desktop level) do you if your have no software? Oy vei! You could run crapperific iOS Apps!!! Woohooo!
