Here's a photo I took on my iPhone of my Surface Pro 4 hooked up to a second monitor, external hard drive, keyboard, mouse, midi controller, mini mixing console, and my Apple Watch charging on the extra USB charger included on the plug. Oh, and also the pen is safely docked on the side of the device... Because Microsoft thought it would be wise to give you multiple solutions for storing the pen. Also not shown, the 128GB microSD card inside the device to supplement the 256GB model I own.

If, by years ahead, you mean that the iPad does not yet have the software or expensive accessories to support these types of setups, yes, you are right.

As I've said before, I am also an Apple fan and do believe that we will one day see lightning accessories of all kinds, but the markup will be insane (as manufacturers know that we will pay it) and they will roll out right as Apple switches to USB-C.

The surface pro 4 is really cool, Im so relieved that they finally updated the type cover keys and trackpad. For me it is so much better and rivals the quality and feel of most ultrabook keyboards.

Is the surface still as smooth when the anti virus decides to kick in the background , and windows updates starts faffing around and all you want to do is draw but Windows won't stop nagging you ? Or is it as nice to use when you spend an evening a month removing malware from Windows ? And it just starts to get Windows rot ?

I'm not synical after using Windows most my life at all... Really I'm not o_O

Windoze is Windoze so expect those stuff happening to your device while doing critical artwork. Anyways, no drawing expensive pro applications for Windoze + Surface can match the quality and functionality of the Procreate iOS app for iPad Pro + Apple Pencil.

This was always my problem with Surface. It makes sense if you truly need ONE device to do it all in an ultraportable format. But as a tablet, everything is more cumbersome and slower. Even something as simple as rotating the screen orientation or booting from sleep is frustratingly laggy relative to an iPad. The iPad has limitations, but it simply the best user experience in its form factor. And the Pro takes it to the next level with its speedy processor and RAM. Using it, *everything* was instant.

A desktop/laptop OS is NEVER going to work properly on a tablet like Surface. Most People today anyways don't strive for perfection, but something that works half assed. Surface fits the bill nicely for them, but serious/professional artists will always use a perfect device like iPad Pro and Mac Pro.

In the full Pencil video the author clearly states that the curve performance in OneNote is not the best (nothing to do with the pen), and that to make this a true test the same app would have to be used, and he mentions that both pens are really good. Instead, this video just show the last part, and BOOM - we have the Pencil is better than Surface Pen. And everyone jumps on the bandwagon, proclaiming Apple is the best.

Apple Pencil is better than any N-trig pens enough said. It's debatable though when it comes to the best Wacom pens/Cintiq.

Keep smoking your crack and continue gulping the Cook Kool Aid. You have no idea what you're talking about in regards to professional creative apps.

Procreate, while nice. is weak compared to the " big boys ".

I guess the word "Pro" doesn't take into account a better CPU/GPU.. by this video ...*rolls eyes*

Anyone holding this monstrosity up at a concert to take a photo so I can get a better view :)

Not really keen on the 2-piece smart cover., i still prefer the all-in-one smart case of the iPad Air 2

Added an emphasis to your AND.

If I'm to go all in on the Apple ecosystem, read comfortably, draw, and do video editing both at home and light video editing on location I'd need:

iPhone (have)
Apple Watch (have)
Mac Pro (true video editing)
MacBook Pro (on location work)
IPad Pro (notes, drawing)
iPad Mini (reading comfortably)

There's just too much overlap here for me. I don't want 4-5 devices plus a pen to charge when I travel. Apple is doing too GOOD of a job of not cannibalizing their current products.

Everything you read on MR each week is only getting bigger by certain paranoid commentators ;) Talking about a a magnified molehill as big as Mount Everest. And of course, the Chinese mishap is a molehill. ;) What important is how quick Apple took action before it becomes a real problem.

You might want to actually research how that molehill played out. And look up the definition of Molehill ;) that was a major breach of a regional AppStore .

The information is easy to access, they the MR search or google.

Paranoid commentators.....right.... hey just ignore that it ever happened, or that it might happen again ;)

You do see the irony of what the word deluded means right ;)

Guess all the pencils and smart covers were available to the serious professional artists with perfect Mac pros.

The rest of us will wait a few weeks to a month to u leash this potential. Cause without the pencil, it's just a BIG iPad AIR! ;)

The specs are Pro, the software is not.
The software was originally made for a 3.5inch screen cellphone.

This is like MacOS 9 in the year 2000.

Those Microsoft Surface circles with the pen.... ummm... aren't circles! What's with all the octagon type shapes?

How is the device perfect when you can't even attach multiple files types to an email? Or plug in a hard drive, or use actual professional applications that costs thousands of dollars?

Come back to me when I can plug the iPad into multiple monitors and run autodesk revit With a mouse and keyboard. Because I sure as hell wouldn't sit there flicking my fingwrs around for 40 hours a week modeling a complex building

Guys, you are getting really boring. We get you want a Apple Surface. The iPad pro isn't for you then - easy to get, right?
Critism is good, that is what apple fan boys don't get.

Without critism apple would still be making 3 inch phones. If consumers demand enough, they will act on the demand.

Why do they not work on a surface? Are you just throwing that out there without an example?

A pro would use a Wacom plugged into a desktop. When that pro travels a lot - as I found - then this is no longer an option. I had to find a far more elegant solution to toting round an air and Wacom cables and bits.
The Surface Pro 3 was that solution and its never been half arsed.

I agree regarding the scaling, it looks "toytown" very unpro, wish they would allow adjustments, this applies to all ipads, for me, phone scaling is perfect.

Well, A9X > intel i5
A9X GPU > intel onboard
iOS > Windows
4 speakers > 2 speakers of Surface
iPad video editing three 4k streams > Surface can't do even one 4k stream
No viruses > millions of viruses on Windows
Pencil sensitivity and tilt sensor > Surface low sensitivity, no tilt sensors

Yeah, you keep trolling this stuff out.
it means NOTHING!

The processor and GPU could be amazing. Its worth bugger all if you can't do anything with all that power.

iOS != Windows. They are a totally different OS.
You might as well compare an iPhone to a Surface.

Lets be real here. The only thing you can compare an iPad Pro to is another iPad.
