Palm rejection works okay. Regardless, what is the point of more screen if you fully expect to be blocking more of it with your palms? Yeah there are times I'm using the iPad propped up (not in hand), but I still hold it a fair amount too.

Honestly the bezels on my 10.5 are too thin as is. It is actually really hard to use apps/games that make use of dragging things because it's too easy to accidentally drag off the side of the device. The edge of the screen is just too close to the physical edge to utilize dragging. So even less bezel would increase this dead zone of screen real estate. What is the point of more screen if I can't use it properly?

Do you? Most of the time I have my iPad Pro propped up with my cover attached, I’m either drawing, handwriting or typing with mine I’d say most of the time my iPad Pro is not in my hand, even when consuming content it’s either proper up with my case or laying down, I use my AirPods too with it.

wow, the notch looks incredibly bad on the larger form factor. Not a good move by Apple in my opinion.
Lol they haven’t released it yet... and they probabaly won’t, having a little bit of a bezel isn’t bad and gives u somewhere to hold it, so there probabanly wont be a notch

Oh goodness, that notch is the fugliest thing I’ve ever seen on an iOS device. Please, no!

Fingers crossed for a slim bezel all around, though not too slim. More than enough space on the iPad where no notch is needed. Seeing as how one of the ways I use my iPad is to watch videos and TV episodes occasionally, I’d rather not have that goofy bump in the way. Will see what is actually delivered in June (or whenever).

EDIT: Oh, and FaceID hopefully works in landscape mode.

On a phone, space is at a premium (you want it to fit comfortably in a pocket or other small confined space, yet you want the biggest screen possible), so an argument can be made for the notch and the rounded corners. But on an iPad, give me a proper rectangular screen with absolutely no intrusions (looking at you, notch), so if you show 4:3 video or still images, it uses every pixel without dropping any of the image.

Rounded screen corners on an iPad would be loudly saying, "we care way more about making the device look pretty than about it being functional". Rounded corners on an iPad mean that if you want to show a rectangular image, without snipping off the image's corners, you've effectively got wide bezels anyway - because you'll have to shrink the image in from the screen edges to fit the whole thing on the screen.

I’ll wait a few years before upgrading anymore Apple hardware. Not much is changing hardware wise, do something big with software Apple!

Really? iOS 11 was huge for the iPad in 2017. iOS 11 was literally formatted for the iPad in many different ways and opened up its potential.

This.

The notch on my X doesn't bother me. I think it would on an iPad.

Unfortunately true. At least with the 1st gen in the X. Maybe Apple has "fixed" it for iPad. IMHO I think that is a must. I rarely hold my 12.9 in portrait. It's too top heavy that way. I'll look at it on a table in portrait, but when I hold it it's horizontal.

Guess people don't talk about FaceID not working in landscape because most people do usually hold their iPhone in portrait. The only time I view my iPhone in landscape is when I'm watching a video.
All correct. iPhone is a portrait device. iPad is more ubiquitous but still primarily landscape.

Please remove that iPad Notch design. There is no way in hell Apple would do something like this other than on iPhone, where there is limited space.

Fortunately, Apple does plenty to stop and think if they should, whereas typical blog watchers do not.

Most of the people on this site remind of people I work with who ask for and get refused features or changes, and when you show it to them, they go "Oh yeah nevermind that's terrible." You don't say.

I think that if Apple makes the iPad with narrower bezels, perhaps equal in width to what the side bezels are now and ditching the home button, it would be enough to get me to date from my iPad Air. I don't want full screen / no bezels because my hands / fingers are already covering some areas of the screen when held, but it would be good to reduce chin and forehead some, as it's added empty space already.

Tricky? I think the word you're looking for is "impossible". They weigh entirely too much to carry them safely by the edges. A bezel-free design on an iPad is pretty much an epic fail all around, even without a notch. A notch would just be the final nail in the coffin.
Everyone wants an iPad with some bezel, even if they don't think they do. And don't worry, that's what Apple will deliver.

An iPad with a bezel the same size as the side bezel on 10.5" iPad, but all the way around, with no Home Button + Face ID sounds glorious to me.

Exactly. Whats next an iMac with rounded corners. I remember the big push for the new CRT TVs years ago, Flatter, squarer picture - get the full picture. Now we are going backwards again, losing the corner of the screen.
