My iPad Pro also failed because the screen became unresponsive & there were burn in discolorations from where my fingers pressed into while holding from reading in bed. I think we both got a long useful life out of ours. I’m very pleased with the current iPad Air that I replaced it with.
I don't wanna lose my 120Hz!
My Pro was still working perfectly smoothly for me. My iPad 3 was not doing nearly as well at 4 years old :). My iPad 3 is still perfectly functional, but much too outdated to run anything modern on it, including most websites.
I was just reminded that my Pro can charge through the Smart Connector, so I may have to buy the (pricey!) Logitech charging stand.
Battery life has been quite crappy as well, though.

I want to upgrade because the tech has advanced significantly, not because of failure of a part. I've been waiting for a mini-LED or OLED display in the 11" before upgrading.

Yes, and the OG iPod required FireWire, which was notably absent on iMacs that were then recent. I think the much greater functionality of CarPlay and the possibility of losing it unless you buy a new car or avoid buying a new phone is a huge issue, here.

Apple is not going to alter what it decides to do based on legacy automobiles. Nothing in Apple’s history suggests they would hestitate 5 minutes before dumping or changing a port if it feels like it.

I don’t recall the old 10.5” iPad Pros having a 120Hz display. If they did I haven’t noticed any changes on my iPad Air.

All I want from the new iPad Pro is for Apple to finally make the default landscape and not portrait with the camera fixed accordingly. I could care less about wireless charging because my Magic keyboard charges the iPad.
I agree. That should be the only necessary upgrade for the iPad Pro, I don’t see a radical change in design because of the accessories for it. Unless Apple decides to make a new Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, which technically they made a new Magic Keyboard.. but the old one was compatible.

I’d like apple to add the Taptic Engine to the iPad line. It’d be good for a number of features (especially gaming) and it seems odd that it hasn’t been added after all these years.

The iPad Pro’s design is so perfect that this new generation is gonna be a downgrade no matter what.
iPad Pro with a new design…just think of all those Magic Keyboards in landfills...including mine.

Here’s hoping they keep the new iPP the same size and compatible (very little chance) with the existing or at least let us trade our $300 Magic Keyboards in for the new ones.

If the front-facing camera wasn't always placed so far to the side in FaceTime the caller wouldn't look past in a correspondingly dismissive manner. Apple understandably hasn't yet managed to integrate a camera in the center behind the display (after all, Apple has applied for patents for this), but an appropriately installed camera pair facing each other (with image processing) would perhaps be able to do so.

This is what FaceTime Attention Correction is meant to do.

really? 24" imac will be updated? the 14" and 16" macbook pros will be updated? the airpods will be updated and we will have airpods 4? i guess not so your statement is wrong

I am wondering how suitable the current MagSafe puck is for the much larger iPad?

The current iPad Pro with Smart Connector is already 'kind of like' using MagSafe - I keep my 11" Pro mounted in the Magic Keyboard and seldom use a charging cable for it.
The iPad Pro has a metal back, sooooo, at this point, not at all. :) They’d have to go glass back… OR use the front to charge? Or, maybe this is about putting a charging zone in the iPad so you can charge other devices via the screen when it’s face up? OR, put charging zones in the palm rests of the Magic Keyboard and add a thin polymer battery to it so you can charge small things like your watch or AirPods?

Liquidmetal, of course, is a metallic glass that they could use for the back and wireless charging would work through it while it’s also light and tough as metal. Probably still too expensive for an iPad Pro back, though.

A big iPad Air fan, the only thing I would really want to improve in it would be its screen. IMO, OLED would be great, with its deeper and more uniform blacks. Will be curious to see what they come up with.
In my mind I saw an overheating iPad Air and a large anthropomorphic fan blowing on it. :D

The mini 8 comes out in 2023. we are still on iPad mini6
Oops I meant 7, yeah no jelly scroll maybe needs to be oled or LCD with 120ghz to avoid the problem even tho it’s still there but harder to see. 256gb-512gb options, bonus product red colour, rich colours and not washed out one coated spray painted looking. thicker for better battery life, apple CarPlay compatible !

My first generation iPad Pro is getting long in the tooth so I’ll be looking closely at what comes down this year for the iPad Pro.

It's on some of them. I had a Fire HD10 which had an awful noise issue with the microphone when I tried to use it on a Zoom conference. I realized that when you buy a $100 tablet, you get a $100 tablet, so sold it and got another iPad instead.
The fire tablets in general are crap and an iPad is way better but the plus versions of the HD8 and HD 10 do have wireless charging. My point was that wireless charging does exist on current tablets. I was not saying that a fire tablet was in anyway an alternative to an iPad lol

My iPad Pro 10.5" was recently rendered useless because its Lightning port failed and I can no longer charge it.
I'd be happy to see wireless charging in the next iPad Pro, if only for redundancy.
Apparently it can still be charged using the smart connecter using the Logitech base connector. However it charges very slowly. https://wccftech.com/psa-yes-you-can-charge-the-ipad-using-the-smart-connector/

The charging port of my iPad Pro 10.5 got damaged by my kids last year. It still worked but it depended on the angle of the charging cable. In the end I just upgraded to the 11 inch pro. I didn't know about being able to charge it via the smart connector when I upgraded but I would probably still have upgraded even if I knew.

I always think of wireless charging on a tablet now because of what happened to my 10.5 inch pro. Although I could still charge my iPad Pro via my magic keyboard.

iPads are build to last and I don’t see the need to update if you’ve bought one in the last couple years. I’m just waiting for the price of the Air 4 (256GB) to drop to the $500-600 range.
I agree. My last iPad was 3 years old before I upgraded it. If my husband hadn't of given it to my then 18 month old and 3 year old to use whilst I was at work, letting them damage the charging port I would have probably still been using it now. I plan on keeping my current iPad at least another 2-3 years. I've had it a year already.

I got three years out of mine and I only upgraded because my kids damaged the charging port so that it would only charge if the lightning cable was put in at certain angles. I would have still had it now if that hadn't of happened.

Not very dramatic although wireless charging for the iPad Pro is welcome.

Is it? Won’t exactly fit on your average charging puck, and aligning it would suck, so probably only reasonable for MagSafe. And if they are going to do MagSafe I’d much rather have support for the mac’s MagSafe 3 cable on ipads.
Unless Apple offers unrestricted AppleCare+ worldwide, and even so, No glass back for me thanks. It’s already painful in iPhone. MagSafe but in usb c format please (not expecting more ports)

PS: I’m guessing wireless charging will be through new Magic Keyboard.

I was as leery on here as anyone re: blooming, but I haven‘t seen any blooming on the Mac Pro with mini led, so i imagine it isn‘t a big deal in actual use on the iPad Pro either.
The blooming is definitely more noticeable on the iPad Pro, but it's not a a big deal in any case unless you are using the iPad in pitch darkness and with full brightness.

The 10.5" iPad Pro (along with the 12.9" of that generation) was the first time Apple put a 120Hz display on any of their devices. That display and the new iOS 11 multitasking features were what convinced me to get my first iPad, and I was not disappointed. Going back to a 60Hz iPad I always notice the choppy frames.

Just bought a new IPP this year wireless charging would not be a selling point for me to upgrade next year I think wireless charging takes longer to charge then just plugging it in now a new chip and longer battery life faster processor I may have to rethink.
