Gazelle offered me 550, amazon offering 660 if you take a gift card. Anybody wanna buy 660 worth of stuff off amazon through me? :)

I really think people underestimate how many people value "having the best, latest one out there". It's everywhere all over the tech community. Even here. Look around....LOTS - and I mean LOTS - of people are selling iPad 3rd gens as quickly as they can. They don't "need" the A6X. They just want the best. At any REASONABLE cost. Bleeding edge.

Will they sell iPad 4 when Samsung Nexus 10 (with 2560 x 1600 resolution) will be announced next week? Or will they stay with inferior iPads?

CPU is twice as fast. This puts it more in line with the iPhone 5. If you like the latest and greatest iPad gaming, this may become noticeable at some point. Not everyone enjoys iPad gaming of course, and to them yeah it's basically just a new port.

From what I understand, the changes on the 4th Gen:

Lightening port
2X performance CPU
2X performance GPU
720P front camera
Expanded LTE support
50% thinner*

*OK, lied about that one ... woo!

tech bubble is about to burst. You cant keep offering "twice as fast" products each year and expect people to care. These year to year minor spec bumps will eventually (EVENTUALLY) have people scratching their heads and buying less frequently.

Really? I purchased my iPad 1 new in 2010. By early 2012, it was next to useless, as it crashes every 5-10 minutes on iOS 5... The same story has happened to my iPod Touch 4G, which as of lately, crashes on most higher speced apps.
That does it. I'm selling my 2012 iPad now! :)

I put my 3rd gen 64Gb black iPad 3 with 4G on eBay Saturday night and the auction is now at 610$ with 2 days letf so it will probably get to 650-700$.

So, I'll have the latest and greatest for what, less than 300$? I think it's a deal and I can afford it.

maybe you should look into settling with a version of iOS 4 on your iPad unless you absolutely need the latest and greatest.

You are really setting your side up to fail, lol! I would absolutely love to downgrade to iOS 4 on both devices, but as you should know, can't. Glorious Apple has decided that nobody, including the Apple "Genius'", can downgrade their own devices firmware. Yet another reason I left Apple for good. As said before, I spent $500 for 1.5 years good use, which is totally unacceptable to me...

Take the $660, sell it for $600, $50 better than Gazelle, everybody wins :D (I don't know the logistics of selling an Amazon gift card ...)

How do you know the price of Samsung Nexus 10 (latest and greatest)?

After I purchased the new iPad in March/April or whever it was, I sold my iPad 1 for close to $400 on Amazon. I considered that a win-win in terms of holding its value despite the crashes.

Half the price for half a year old piece of equipment that's in excelent condition? It's like a $1.37 a day just for the right to own one.

After paying close to $900 for the iPad listed in my sig plus applecare+ it is a little disappointing to see that I can only get roughly $400 back from a 7 month old device.

I was able to sell my 2 year iPhone 4 for $260. Thats only a $140 difference for two completely different experiences. What a shame. Still feel like Apple burned us. I guess I'll be smart with my money and wait two years from my purchase date to see what is out then.

People who use sites like gazelle are clueless.

Or, the convenience outweighs the cost of selling it directly yourself. It's like trading in a car to a dealer when you buy a new car. Is it ever really the best thing to do? Probably not but in some cases it just makes life easier, which can be worth the cost.

Also, sometimes you get great quotes on Gazelle or with other trade-in services that are as good a price as you could get reselling it yourself, albeit that is more rare for obvious reasons.

I'm not saying I'd use Gazelle or other similar sites but it doesn't always come down to ignorance.

It's good to see so many consumers are ready to dump old tech and jump on board with the insanely awesome new iPad 4.

I didn't know I could sell it, when I sent them my 4s they just credited the money to my amazon account.

Frankly, I am somewhat concerned about the ethics of selling my massive POS iPad 1. I really don't think it would be moral to sell it without the buyer understanding it crashes literally every few minutes, but writing that on any sales ad would make the value drop too low.

Oh yeah, that's what I was saying, I don't know if you can/could, wasn't sure if it was like a voucher number that could be transferred.

Amazon is tempting, we buy so much through them, it would be as good as cash (heck, I've got like $100 worth of stuff sitting my cart at Amazon right now).

Surprised nobody has drawn a link between this and Win8/MS-Surface showing up on Friday.

Yeah, I doubt it but hey... it's there FWIW.

If you "left Apple for good" wouldn't you not be here on MacRumors? ;)

/Yes, that was an intentional double negative.

Isn't it using the same GPU on the 3rd gen? It only has about a 66hz boost iirc.
