Bluetooth Ipad pointy stylus

I think your idea for pressure sensitivity via Bluetooth is a great idea--maybe a way to implement it is the pen itself could detect how hard you squeeze it? I thought about it and it happens naturally when using a real pen/pencil.

Someone needs to invent this. Sell the stylus and give away the necessary Bluetooth software. Id buy one.

:)

Bet again. Unfortunately, unless you use crayons to take notepad notes at work or school there's no way that the current mix of hardware/software can deliver a real notepad replacement.

Not only does the stylus have to get more pointy (the easy part) but the screen needs to be able to understand the input, deliver it faster, and with the type of small-letter accuracy that has yet to be demonstrated.

Sadly, I'm looking for a new folio that looks like this:

I didn't bet it'd be end all replacement for a notepad but with a better stylus it could get close. It would never replace a paper notepad for a situation that is writing intensive which would require me to write a lot really fast, but for sitting and jotting notes at a leisurely pace it can do pretty well I think.

New update for penultimate really rounded off the app for me. The wrist protection feature finally let's me write comfortably on the iPad. Now all I need is a bit nicer stylus (currently using the pogo one) and I bet the iPad can be an awesome notepad replacement.

you must have some serious penmanship skills cuz I can't do anything but draw large squiggly shapes with penultimate. i don't see the point in the app, I can't take notes cuz a couple of words fill the length of the sheet.

i did do a nice house with windows, a chimney and smoke coming out the other day, well worth 2.99.

Haha, first let me congratulate you on your artistic achievments. I do agree it's still no where near as effective as an actual pen and paper notepad. I don't think there's ever going to be something on the ipad that just allows you to completly replace a notepad. I'm just saying that the wrist protection update was very nice!

been following this thread for a while, while deciding whether or not to get th ipad...

anyone think this will work?

Any idea where to get that pen?

More info on how it works can be found here.

i hope this message doesn't get deleted like the thread i started.

This might work. Capacitive. Pointy tip. But it might only work on Elan's capacitive screens and it might be too soft. But it's promising. If someone buys one please report back.

Likewise, ELAN has also introduced eStylus™, the world’s first capacitive stylus that can easily pinpoint and input virtual QWERTY tiny icons and unfolds the digital handwriting on Capacitive Touchpad technology.* It allows user to input his or her signature directly from the touchpad.* This has further expanded the Capacitive Touchpad functions and offers user with more convenient options

Times like this I wish I was an engineer. I feel like there is money to be made here..

This seems to be pointier than most available.

The smudgeguard is listed as a nylon spandex blend. I'd imagine that it would block fingers but I'm cautious of its abilities to block the edge of the hand. If anyone has tried this, please write a review.

I've got it today and tried on my iPad with different applications. Unfortunately, it did not work well. Every time the side of my hand or pinky touches the screen, the iPad loses the detection of the stylus...
I might try make my own smudgeguard with different material.

For those of you that want to take notes like in a real notebook...

Try NoteTaker HD
Or
GhostWriter

Both have a pretty nice input field for inputing text ON THE LINES like in a real notebook. I have a hard time deciding between the two as to which is my favorite...

NoteTaker's interface runs a little smoother and quicker... But it saves individual pages instead of notebooks.

GhostWriter saves in notebooks, offers multiple tools and colors (pencil for drawing, pen for smaller input, highlighters) but it seems to get a little laggy the more you fill up a page.

None of this is to say I wouldn't like a stylus with a finer point, but even so, with Penultimate you'd STILL have a problem writing small and on the lines. An input field makes all the difference really.

get a pen, remove ink tip, wrap tip with a sock, use as stylus.

At least one person on the right track.
Except take an aluminum pen take the type ball out and stuff the narrow hole with conductive foam. And you are done. It will take the current on your hands and through the foam onto the screen. I'll be tryi this today and making the area of touch as small as a regular pen

Thank you
AE

This one is kind of pointy, if you hold it on its side. But I don't think that it would be best for notes. I'm sure that we will see a pointy, pen-like stylus and notes app for the iPad in no time!

I just got mine and I'm not happy with the results. It has what I think is a rubber tip that feels like a very firm pencil erase. Not very responsive and it leaves traces of rubber on the screen.

Thumbs down.

found one?

has anyone seen this one?

Product description on amazon says
"You could also turn your iPad, Mac Book track pad or other touch screen input device into a pen tablet for premium drawing programs."

Check the picture and description carefully. You have to flip the pen over and use the rubber top on capacitive screens. The point is an actual pen.

Damn, looks like I was too excited about the thought of it being what I wanted it to be i didn't notice :(

anyone got any info on these?:

- pogo's new stuff advertised on website... "there's a lot more coming"
- apple's patent for stylus ever coming to life

Is there any reason not to use the dagi stylus? It looks funky but it seems to do the proper job. I do not have one personally but I am trying to figure out why it is not meeting the need after I saw photos of it.

I got a Boxwave stylus earlier today to use with Notetaker HD.

I am really impressed. Using the input window I can create notes that look and function almost exactly like a real notepad. It took a little practice with Notetaker HD but now I love this thing. My lines are a reasonably thin diameter and fit well within standard notebook lines.

This is now usable as a virtual notepad replacement for the famous yellow legal pad. I have a big business trip next month and this will be my notetaking system.
