Instead of jumping in half way through a discussion, you'll see further back I said that Apple needed to develop a touch screen desktop OS, whether it be iOS adapted to allow desktop apps, OS X adapted for touch, or something completely new.
So honestly, go actually READ the thread before you read one post and jump in thinking you've got all the details. Yeesh.
Btw your whole thing about original iPad development is moot because Steve Jobs also said you'll never need a Stylus............oh wait................................................
There isn't a way to easily read a thread here, so I just responding to your most recent point, so sorry if I got the wrong idea. You are right. They need to make iOS for iPad on par with OS X and Windows. I've said before on MacRumors that I would love companies like Adobe to create apps like Photoshop for Windows, OS X and iPad.
Naturally, they'll make the iPad version touch-friendly, but one of the main reasons an iPad can't replace a laptop for me now is that it's too much a scaled up iPhone. If I wanted to play Minecraft, I'd have to play
Minecraft: Pocket Edition, not the normal desktop version I'm used to. There's no Creative Cloud, no Final Cut Pro X, no iBooks Author, etc.
I assumed iOS was capable enough to create these apps, only the processing power was letting the side down. I'd hoped the iPad Pro would remedy this. I think it has done, but developers don't seem to see it as a third platform like Windows and OS X.
Lastly, Steve Jobs was right, you shouldn't need a stylus when introducing the iPhone. I think he was right on the phone, and you he was right about the tablet, too. Can you imagine having to use a stylus to check email? You probably know better than I do that the Apple Pencil is more of a Wacom accessory than a built in stylus. You can use all iPad apps without it, just as I can use Adobe Creative Cloud on my laptop with out my graphics tablet. Just for some users some of the time, it's a nice thing to have.
