bullpoop, just look what trumped the vacuum above. apple watch is 11th cause it's a useless product for anyone but apple tech enthusiasts.
Just because you don't see a need for an :apple: Watch doesn't mean everyone else will see it the same way. Just because you won't buy one doesn't mean others will do the same.
The fact that it is on the list means that people do want it.

Of course my logic isn't unanimous, you're here. Surface Pro is equivalent in comparison to the Macbook. And its look like the Macbook is in the lead. And yeah people do consider Macbooks when purchasing a Mac... I see it all the time at the Apple store... It's just finding the form factor you're comfortable with. And of course there are different beasts in the same class, you're a good observer! That being said, the Macbook and the Surface are generally considered the same class by the majority of tech syndicates.

I'll bet you $50 that the majority of the reviews of the iPad Pro released in the first week (or month depending how slow they take to get them published) will compare it to the Surface.

Why because it has a pen and its the new "Pro" tablet from Apple? Cool but the Surface is much much greater then the iPad Pro, so the comparison is not even valid... Windows OS is more powerful then iOS in terms of what you can do without hackery... THAT being said, OS X is still better in many aspects when compared to Windows. The only real edge Windows has is Gaming... But gamers are the minority when it comes to computing.

A Mac Pro is much greater than a Macbook but you still think they're comparable? But like I said, that's what Apple is targeting, it's their own fault they put a mobile OS on it and not a desktop OS. That's to their detriment and Microsoft's gain.

iPad Pro is arguably at Number 1, under "iPad".

It's not a surface-like product. It's an iPad with a slightly larger screen and an optional wacom-pena accessory.

It doesn't run OS X. It doesn't have USB ports. It doesn't support a mouse.

There are two comparisons made when it comes to technology. Hardware and Software. I argue that only devices with equivalent software are valid for comparison... That being said, iOS devices can't be compared to Windows devices.

Their desktop OS isn't built for multitouch. How are people still missing this. Honestly, go borrow a copy of any book that includes anecdotes about original iPad development and it's easy to see why Apple would never cram OS X onto the device. Look at Walter Issacon's biography of Steve Jobs, or "Becoming Steve Jobs".

Instead of jumping in half way through a discussion, you'll see further back I said that Apple needed to develop a touch screen desktop OS, whether it be iOS adapted to allow desktop apps, OS X adapted for touch, or something completely new.

So honestly, go actually READ the thread before you read one post and jump in thinking you've got all the details. Yeesh.

Btw your whole thing about original iPad development is moot because Steve Jobs also said you'll never need a Stylus............oh wait................................................

You still will never need a stylus, it's called an accessory not a necessity.

Also chill man.. People aren't attacking your soul. Don't take bickering personally .

People are completely missing the point of this. The fact that the iPad a product with declining sales and a category that is "dying" is the most desirable tech seems to indicate Apple has won people over with the iPad pro.

Or maybe casual users who mostly have iPad 2s are ready this year to upgrade.

While true you're really not using the device for what it was designed to do without it. Just like using the surface without the stylus would be pointless. My point there was that what Steve Jobs said years ago doesn't matter now. Apple have long moved on from Steve Jobs. Unfortunately some of the Apple fans are still clinging on.

Or the software just got that more compelling? Software > Hardware when it comes to sales.

Not always true. Look at Samsung. Their phone specs are miles ahead of Apple but their UI is awful (Touchwiz, raw Android is pretty good), yet they still have the largest slice of the smartphone pie (albeit deminishing). People are wowed by things like octa-core. 16 megapixels. 4K screen etc etc.

Apple still clings on too. Jobs is in everyone's memory. But he certainly wasn't the creator everyone makes him into. He played his role in bringing fantastic people together, albeit a bit illegally with the back dated stock options. Don't forget Scott Forstall who basically reinvented skeuomorphic design for Apple and was later fired for it... The other 99% make Apple products not Steve. He's was mostly the Yay, Nay guy.

Not to mention his own personal deep dark past outwith Apple. Cough first child.

There isn't a way to easily read a thread here, so I just responding to your most recent point, so sorry if I got the wrong idea. You are right. They need to make iOS for iPad on par with OS X and Windows. I've said before on MacRumors that I would love companies like Adobe to create apps like Photoshop for Windows, OS X and iPad.

Naturally, they'll make the iPad version touch-friendly, but one of the main reasons an iPad can't replace a laptop for me now is that it's too much a scaled up iPhone. If I wanted to play Minecraft, I'd have to play Minecraft: Pocket Edition, not the normal desktop version I'm used to. There's no Creative Cloud, no Final Cut Pro X, no iBooks Author, etc.

I assumed iOS was capable enough to create these apps, only the processing power was letting the side down. I'd hoped the iPad Pro would remedy this. I think it has done, but developers don't seem to see it as a third platform like Windows and OS X.

Lastly, Steve Jobs was right, you shouldn't need a stylus when introducing the iPhone. I think he was right on the phone, and you he was right about the tablet, too. Can you imagine having to use a stylus to check email? You probably know better than I do that the Apple Pencil is more of a Wacom accessory than a built in stylus. You can use all iPad apps without it, just as I can use Adobe Creative Cloud on my laptop with out my graphics tablet. Just for some users some of the time, it's a nice thing to have.

A vacuum beat the Apple Watch.

I've got an Apple Watch that I really like but I know it currently has limited appeal. I think too many people were accustomed to looking at their phones to get the time and were completely out of the habit of wearing a watch. Apple didn't just have get people to "switch" to the Apple Watch, they had to try to convince a large market segment to start wearing a watch again (or for the first time).

While I am happy with my watch, I still haven't found the "killer app" that would make it a must have device for the general public.

The problem with the Apple watch is Apple. They priced themselves out of the smart watch market. The sport is about the max people really want to pay for a piece of technology that will be obsolete next year. For the price of a stainless steel model, you can get a decent normal watch. Most Seikos are less than that, you can even get Tag Heuer's for less. As for the Edition. $15k? I'd rather the Rolex/Omega/Patek Phillipe etc.

Crazy to me that the Bose headphones are #2. They're good at noise cancelling, but I'm really surprised that specific model is up so high when all the non-oem I see on the subway are Beats.

Agreed. I bought the stainless version then kicked myself afterward because the sport model had all the same functionality (I just didn't like the sport bands and buying a 2nd band took me half the way to the cost of the stainless model).
