bullpoop, just look what trumped the vacuum above. apple watch is 11th cause it's a useless product for anyone but apple tech enthusiasts.

Same goes for the maxiPad. Those of us who summed up the iPad as nothing but a big iPod touch will be proven right one day. It's a useless toy. Much like the original iPod.

You genuinely think you will be proven right about your opinion of the iPad being useless one day?

You might want to learn when to admit you were wrong....

....
The report also found that men are both more likely than women to want tech-related gifts for the holidays are be the ones who gift consumer electronics to friends and family more frequently. ...

That sentence though...

1. iPad
2. Bose QuietComfort 25 Noise Cancelling Headphones
3. MacBook
4. Samsung 48" Smart 4K Ultra HD TV
5. Sharp 43" Smart HDTV with Roku
6. Microsoft Surface
7. Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II
8. Fitbit Charge HR Heart Rate and Activity Tracker
9. Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
10. Dyson V6 Absolute Bagless Cordless Vacuum
11. Vizio 43" Smart 4K Ultra HD TV
12. Apple Watch
13. SONOS PLAY:1 Wireless Speaker
14. iRobot Roomba Vacuum Cleaning Robot
15. GoPro HERO4 Action Camera

I know this is all purely opinion, but I'm just going to throw out there that I think the iPad is the least exciting Apple product around right now. It's nowhere near as productive as a MacBook (I'd much rather have a new MacBook than an iPad of any kind for Christmas), and even if you're going to argue in favor of having a touch screen for drawing, I feel like a Surface is a more robust device. I suppose you could argue it's a decent entertainment device, but you can watch videos on any of these three devices, and a gaming console or computer is going to blow the iPad away in terms of games. Want to read? Get a Kindle with an e-ink screen. It's easier on the eyes and a fifth of the price.

I know this is an unpopular opinion on this here Apple fan forum, but in practicality, the more I use my iPad the more I realize it seems like a bad compromise. I probably won't be getting another one unless Apple finally makes a great hybrid running OS X, and they'd probably call that a Mac anyway.

Also, as others have pointed out, where's the iPhone on this list? I'm pretty sure the iPhone is more popular (and is going to outsell) every device on here.

I still don't really know why GoPro's are all the rage, either, but then I don't take that many pictures.

When I was young, I wished for a Zenith portable transistorized AM/FM radio.....

Apple hasn't made a compelling enough case for the watch yet for me to be interested. Even many folks in the tech industry say that the watch is nice and all but it's not something they really need -- unlike the iPhone. That's my feeling, as well.

Once the watch does more things that the phone cannot instead of the other way around, the watch could become a more enticing purchase for more consumers.

... so many people actually like Bose products?

Audio tastes are subjective, some people prefer the sound of one device over another and don't care about peer pressure. I'm more surprised anyone buys Beats, but's that's just my opinion based on listening to both devices. One of the best services that Best Buy provides is providing the opportunity to try out most equipment. Try listening to Bose headphones sometimes before judging something based on nothing more than "the Internet said...".

This seems a dubious survey.

A GoPro makes the list? Hardly mass market. And no iPhone? No toys?

Glad to see iPad at the top, but I question the value of this survey.

Depends where. 99% of people in my life have one. Android people are outcasts in group texts. I barely SMS anyone. All iMessage.
The "people in my life" who, I suspect, are much like you/share your tastes, interests, etc., are not representative of the overall population. I guarantee you.

By the "people in my life" I'm pretty much talking about all my friends, family, and all the new people I encounter on a daily basis at my job. The iPhone marketshare in the US alone is enough to justify the creation of a smart watch that ties exclusively to it. Don't make the iPhone out to be some niche device that few people have. I live in Jersey and I rarely see android phones.

The Roomba should be way up there. I just got one last week, and it is incredible. I wish I had two--one for each floor.

Of course. A sample of one. Reread my response to your post. And I am not suggesting iPhone is some niche device. You know how you know, you in all likelihood move in circles of family and, outside your family, like-minded people. Professional, work in tech? Of course you see what you see. You see people who are, generically, much like yourself. That's all. No offense intended, just an observation.

LMAO at the fact that more people want a Dyson vacuum then an Apple Watch, and I mean the Dyson is a product that literally sucks.

It speaks volumes the fact that the Apple watch is way down on this list as it suggests that this whole smartwatch market is a fad that will pass. I mean the iPad, after years of stagnant sales, is still considered a top wish list item while the new Apple Watch can't even crack the top ten? If people actually wanted a smartwatch, and furthermore, Apple delivered a compelling product, it would have been the #1 wished for gift this year. The iPod, iPhone, and iPad were all highly coveted products starting day 1, the Apple Watch is already being forgotten about.

People would rather a vacuum that costs twice as much as an Apple Watch because people would rather a gift that sucks rather than one that blows.

It has more to do with income I imagine. In higher income areas iPhone marketshare hovers around the 80% mark I'm sure.

I'll bet you $50 that the majority of the reviews of the iPad Pro released in the first week (or month depending how slow they take to get them published) will compare it to the Surface.
People compare cats and dogs and they are still not the same family of animals. Mac Pro, iMac and MacBook Air are the same category just like House Cat, Lion and Saber-Tooth Tiger are the same no matter their size, weight and strength differences. A feline is a feline and a PC is a PC. PCs exist in different form factors: Desktop-PC, Laptop-PC and Tablet-PC. A Tablet-PC is not a tablet, it's a PC that looks like a tablet. Pinguins can't fly and can swim, but they are still birds not fish.

Now give the man his $50, because he is right.

• MacBook & Surface Pro, same category of device.
• iPad Pro & Surface Pro, different category of device.

You're right that listening tastes are subjective. I never knew of cared about out what the internet said about Bose products, unfortunately I learned the hard way and read about it after the fact. I bought three or four different Bose products including headphones and I returned or sold most of them. I still own a wave sound system that I hardly ever use. Both Beats and Bose headphones have terribly unbalanced sound (in very different ways) and are way overpriced for the sound quality they provide.

A vacuum beat the Apple Watch.
"Top gadgets and products planned to be gifted and asked for this holiday season were detailed."

I'm pretty sure this is a lot of guys giving jackass responses claiming they are planning on getting their gf's and wives vacuums for Christmas.

A Mac Pro is much greater than a Macbook but you still think they're comparable? But like I said, that's what Apple is targeting, it's their own fault they put a mobile OS on it and not a desktop OS. That's to their detriment and Microsoft's gain.

I don't know... looking at this list and sales of iPads and Surfaces, it looks like it was to Apple's gain. Let's face it, traditional PCs are overkill for most people.

That said, Apple and MS are on a collision course... they're just coming at it from a position of their respective strengths... iOS and Windows. MS is in more of a rush though (for obvious reasons) whereas Apple is most likely following their multi-year plan to replace the Mac in their usual methodical manner.
