I'm not a "spoiled child" I have my iPad 3 on Craig's list, the top offer I've gotten so far is for $250 but only if I include my leather case, several have responded offering amounts as low as $200 "cash money" these potential buyers mention that they know thy can buy a refurb from Apple for $379.. One low baller even threatened to flag my listing. Besides, even if I was paid $300 for this embarrassing device that doesn't exist anymore I'll still have to fork over another few hundred to replace it with the "new iPad" won't I?
Yeah. You're not a spoiled child, you're acting a spoiled *brat*.
Seriously. Chill out. I got $550 for my iPad 3 two days after the event. The guy I sold it to knew not only about the new iPads, but also the refurbs. Most people think refurb = broken, so they ignore it. As far as he was concerned, Apple was just trying to get money by getting people to go to the new dock connector.
You don't *need* to fork over anything. There's no loaded gun to your head forcing you to update, and the iPad 3 will still be totally functional for another couple years minimum. You're just upset that you don't have the latest gadget, so you're throwing a tantrum.
While this post seems harsh, I'm not a total jerk. Some tips for selling on Craigslist:
Include the box, charger, and papers. Highlight that it's still covered under Apple's stock warranty, as well as Applecare+. Use terms like "Like New" and "Restored to factory defaults". These are big to buyers.
Have good pics - show the screen is scratch free, the back is scratch free, and the box and accessories. A good, clear shot of the logo, "iPad" and 32GB on the back is a good seller as well.
If I were you, I'd price it at $500 OBO. Be willing to take $450, but no less. Don't include anything but what's in the box.
As for the messages, if someone uses the refurbs as a bartering chip, just reply "Great. Go buy one that has been broken for a discount then. This one isn't a reject or a B-stock".
If someone threatens to flag you because you rejected their lowball offer, dare them to. Challenge them. "Do it then. Flag it. I dare you." Funny thing - Craigslist requires a certain amount of flags for the same reason from different IP addresses to get anything done. One flag from one person will do nothing. And if they spend an hour doing it over and over? Fantastic. You just wasted an hour of their time.
Good luck with the sale. A legit buyer will pay a fair price - it just comes down to finding a legit buyer.
