I pre-qualified for my iUP switcharoo the night before launch. I was up and loading the Apple Store app at the top of launch hour. Wasn’t until 3-after before the screen loaded to show my reservation. 2 taps later, my Space Pro 256 was ordered. And somehow I am seeing a 9/27-10/1 delivery. Wow - they either A) moved a LOT of devices in 3-min. or they B) have a very limited supply. I’m all in on A. Which is pretty remarkable that ship dates could slip that rapidly. That Apple... totally doomed. :p

That happen to me also...same timing...

I think the general buzz and hype that came with every new iPhone has fizzled. Times change, iPhones are no longer the device that feel more premium than other smartphones phones. There are now phones that simply feel and look more premium and higher end than iPhones. I've purchased 2 Note 10+ at $1500 each. I just can't imagine spending that much for an iPhone now. Not after the experience of using a Note. Not a chance. It even seems there's weaker demand for the new iPhones.

You can buy two cars for the same price of a Mercedes but you will never own a Mercedes. I've tried every phone out there as I love my gadgets, but nothing is built as well as an iPhone.

Plus you have no idea or statistics to support your claim about weak demand, these are just your own foolish views based on no source.

Samsung will never understand the importance of quality and precision, they just keep churning out new products quickly trying to saturate the market and every now and again they pick up folks like you.

Nope I'm talking about the 11 series as a whole. A lot of stuff is already sold out for the release date, just look it up on their website. A lot of gold stuff is left, not popular at all this time around.
Lol it’s not!

I was able to preorder the midnight green Pro Max for store pickup for September 20, but I notice that my status is "Order in progress" not preparing for shipment. I guess the in store pickup process is different than I'm used to.

Yes it’s different than delivery to your house. Last year it stayed that way until Friday mrng then said pickup at store right at the time of my appointment. Just my experience

Same here, and I have a 9/27-10/1 estimated delivery. And as of this morning the status is still processing.

I’ve never pre-ordered right at the opening so I have no frame of reference personally on what the timeline looks like. Still, it’s hard not to check the Apple Store app every few hours looking for an update. (And if it’s this distracting I may purposely wait a few days or a week next time around to avoid the distraction.)

Makes sense since most likely the phones for store pickup will most likely arrive at the store by Wednesday.

On the same day that iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max pre-orders began, some customers are already beginning to see their order statuses shift from "processing" to "preparing to ship" on Apple's website.

Once an order has reached "preparing to ship" status, it can no longer be canceled, although customers still have 14 days to return the iPhone upon receiving it for a full refund. Once orders reached "shipped" status in the United States, they can usually be tracked on UPS's or FedEx's websites.

If your order has a Friday, September 20 delivery estimate, but has yet to reach "preparing to ship" status, this should change over the next few days. To check the status of your order, visit the Order Listing page on Apple's website.

The first deliveries to customers and in-store availability will begin Friday, September 20.

Discuss your iPhone pre-order in the MacRumors forums.

I just received notification from Verizon that iPhone 11 Pro Max has shipped... I still expect it no earlier that 9/20, even though my original order said 9/19 delivery. They always hold them until Friday. No worries, but it’s good to know it’s on its way.

Well, maybe for you, but the # of sales, the online excitement, news coverage, and the valuation of the sales of the iPhones that is 2-4 times as expensive as a laptop or desktop, seems to disagree. Along with the Apple Watch sales, which truthfully may not be as big of an upgrade this year, may be less only bc last was probably the most amazing upgrade I’ve seen in a very long time; however, I suspect they will be significant nonetheless. The titanium offering is that Watch in a price point for a premium watch that I’ve been waiting for.

Honestly, I hardly use my home laptop anymore. I recently took it out to update it just in case and as a backup for preordering my iPhone and Apple Watch. I even did ALL of my electronic paperwork on my iPhone for signing the contract, getting mortgage approved, and closing on my new house only with my iPhone. I saved all documents to my secure cloud that I access via my iPhone but goes to my laptop once I log in and connect it to the network.

Once the iPad is a full laptop replacement for all of our needs, we may well drop the PC in our home 100% for personal use. Some safari web limitations for certain sites and some application limitations hold me back because of poor gunnel visioned mobile development where they limit the app’s functionality and remove the option to render the page in desktop form.

I suspect that either they up their development game or I’ll find an alternative to the service. It is terribly inconvenient to be forced to a pc just for one functionality. Amazon did this for a while but eventually changed that. Chrome and Firefox sometimes would force the desktop version if a user asked but that’s not always true depending upon their agreements or deals.

All this is to say that I think a customer base’s expectation for outstanding quality and functionality (Steve Jobs’ it just works!) could be mistakenly interpreted as a lack of excitement. I think it is more the same expectation in a product that owners of luxury cars, luxury watches, boats, etc. have when something new is out.

Do I need a new iPhone? No, but the camera, the battery life, the performance improvements are worth it to me. I’m not as young and with kids, I’m not in line for the new one. And Apple makes a lot more of these for their release date, so it’s not as limited as before where some people will use that to their advantage in charging extra because of limited supply.

I really hope that iPhone 11 pro will not be a flop for Apple. I think that people will purchase the iPhone 11 instead of the pro..

The iPhone 11 and the iPhone XR before it were designed to the best seller, the default iPhone. I’m sure Apple is expecting it to outsell the Pro, though it has upgraded features that will entice a lot of iPhone upgraders.

That is, if you are into phones. Just like cars don't matter if you are into cars. I do like my 400e coupe, though.

I guess I don’t know what to put in for reference or how to do it correctly, because I get error messages.

The iPhone 6 is not getting iOS 13, which means, Apple will stop supplying the iPhone X with iOS upgrades by 2022. Seems like the right time for me to upgrade. $6,500 saved over 5 years avoiding impulse buys and the need to have a status symbol.

I hope I end up getting my phone on Thursday somehow, because I'm going to be stupidly busy Friday and Saturday and won't have time to enjoy my phone. But of course I won't.

It'll be until sometime Sunday before I'll be able to set up my phone. Bah.

Not necessarily. Apple has changed their strategy somewhat, towards supporting phones even longer and having people upgrade less often. We may get longer support periods out of the last few generations than we've gotten before.

Also consider the fact that the last three generations especially are massively overpowered, so there's a lot of wiggle room for support time going forward. Additionally, the iPhone 6 specifically was somewhat hobbled, with less memory (1GB) than it should have had, and a much slower storage subsystem than the 6S. I remember being desperate to ditch my 6 by the time the 7 came out, and the amazing difference in performance after upgrading.
