Makes sense since most likely the phones for store pickup will most likely arrive at the store by Wednesday.
Last year I was booked for 8am and I got there around 730am. I was in the parking lot waiting to go in when UPS trucks came with a cop escort bringing them in. In this mall is an Apple store, Verizon, sprint, Tmobile and Att across the street. They all got them Friday morning could just be the chandler AZ mall but that’s what I witnessed last year release day. I’m slotted for 8am AZ time I’ll see if that’s how it happens again.

Does anyone know why Apple is so against people getting their device early?

They seem to go through a lot of effort, even holding shipments to make sure they don't arrive before Friday. How does it benefit Apple to do this, rather than just let people get them when they get through the shipping chain, even if it's early?

Tracking number showing up in UPS. “Order Processed: Ready for UPS” Estimated 9/20.
I’ve got tracking numbers for my #iPhone11Pro purchases, too, via the UPS app where the status is “Order Processed: Ready for UPS”. Status hasn’t changed on the Apple Store app (Preparing to Ship). Today they are in ZhengZhou, China and I’ll pick up early Friday morning at my local UPS distribution center myself rather than wait all day for home delivery.

New phones timed with release of new iOS. Apps supporting iOS are generally not made available until the actual release.

EST, I didn’t get my confirmation email until 8:11. Usually I get it right away, maybe there was a delay in processing. I was ready to go at 08:00, but the store didn’t start working until 8:03. I am not worried about it anyway.
(FYI, EST is Eastern Standard Time and we are currently in EDT, Eastern Daylight Time)
I had encountered something similar when ordering my X in 2017. Hopefully they might bump you back up to launch day.

My order is showing in UPS. Getting excited!!

Hey guys. Let’s not stress about UPS delivery dates this year. Okay? I mean...we do this every year and our stuff always comes on time. Just breathe and live life. Our phones and watches will be here before we know it.

Has anyone received UPS information who bought 11 pro with IUP monthly payments? I ordered at 5.02 am PDT on 13th. Shows delivery by 23rd September. Apple shows preparing to ship but no information in UPS.

I'll never understand why Android owners visit Apple forums to rant about devices they don't own.
Right? Like, cool. Go away. Enjoy your kitkatoreosprinkles 18.0 OS. Bye.

I'm excited about the iPhone release every year, knowing the order is preparing to ship then it is on it's way and I didn't buy one this time. It is like the night before Christmas, but for adults.
Yesssss! My husband and I look forward to this every year! It’s OUR Christmas! Absolutely magical! And I love coming here once a year to find my UPS tracking, flight finding friends to be excited with!

Download the UPS app, easier than site.
What are you putting in as the shipping dates? Mines getting fussy if I put anything after today, let alone the 20th, despite mine is prepping to ship, with a launch day release date!!!

But that’s the fun, stressing together and enjoying this one week a year we all reunite to order and track our new phones!!!

The carriers and Best Buy are still offering launch day delivery if you don’t want to wait.

Every year people say this and then are very disappointed when they don’t get their phone on launch day because it’s Best Buy. The often over promise and under deliver. Apple is the opposite.

Because the release date is 9/20. Is that difficult to understand? You’ll live if it doesn’t arrive on 9/19.

The carriers and Best Buy do not promise launch day delivery. They will have some inventory on launch day. Big difference.
