Wow, that is a heavy phone. Put a case on it and its now well over half a pound, sheesh. I was hoping it would come in lighter than the Xs Max.

I can only imagine the weight of next year's version if rumors are true that it will be 6.7".

Wonder how big the battery is. Seems they removed the 3D Touch layer, increased the thickness, and dumped in a big battery.

Comments here are too funny. People complain the batteries don't last long enough. So Apple puts in a bigger battery and its 20 grams heavier and people complain its a chunker and too heavy. Too funny.

The thing is, Apple can make a 6.5" phone with a really big battery but could put it out at less than 7 ounces if they want so why are they making it so heavy? Google, Samsung and other manufactures achieve this. Is Apple going with heavier building materials because they think super heavy phones are good or is it because the higher end lower weight materials are more expensive, or what?

Perhaps it's because of the bigger battery + stronger glass back?

We complained for years about shattering phones and because battery didn't last long enough due to Apple's "obsession" with thin phones, didn't we?

I hear ya, those are things pretty much everybody wants.........but again, why is the phone so heavy? Not to make this about Android or anything but as I stated Google, Samsung, etc. all put out high end phones of the same size with huge batteries that weigh significantly less. Clearly its possible for Apple to do the same so why aren't they?
[doublepost=1568385132][/doublepost]I love the argument "ha ha maybe you should work out". Even my boss who competes at the amateur level of power lifting (his combined total for squat, dead lift, and bench press is now over 1,500lbs by the way) and even he thinks his Iphone is too heavy for a smartphone.

I like heavy phones. I pre-order the 11 Pro 256GB in MidNight Green! Not going use a cover! I already have a iPhone Xs Max 512GB in white/silver.

11 Pro is a relative dud in my view for a late 2019 release, but +20g for an extra 5 hours over the XS Max is an option I'd take if given it. XS Max battery is pretty decent and almost always gets me through a whole day. Some nights I forget to charge it and wake up low. Times like that I'd love the extra battery life.

The XS Max is a heavy bit of kit but you get used to it.

Agree with the OP's sentiment though, you can't just keep tacking on +20g every time you add new tech. The weights have been creeping up for years and eventually they'll need to address it sincerely on the larger models. It's not simply the phone's weight, but the phone's weight plus case weight, plus different levels of fatigue of people with a range of hand strengths.

My fiancé's a strong guy too. Been an athlete of some sort most of his adult life yet he's a weight weenie. Just generally doesn't like heavy things. He also considers the XS Max a heavy phone, but he wouldn't trade down to a smaller phone. He likes the big screen and actually wants a slightly bigger screen.

Wondering if guys like him who want Apple to go slightly bigger will end up regretting it :D

To be fair, I’d put a Max sized iPhone in my back pocket without a worry. I don’t do that to my light weight Note 10+ unless it’s in my protective folio case, and even then only for a short time if I have my hands full. There are definitely lighter phones that do pass JerryRigEverything’s torture tests out there, but they feel fragile.

Maybe the Titanium watches are a preview of things to come for iPhones.
