I like the heavier, substantial feel of the last few phones. I'm glad to see it go thicker and heavier since the 6, which always felt kind of flimsy and cheap.

The number one weight culprit is the glass back. Glass is way heavier than aluminum. If you want wireless charging- no more aluminum backs. Heavier phone. No way around it.

The iPhone 6 Plus is the lightest of the big phones- but it could be bent if cranked on. Every big phone since then has gotten heavier with each new iteration. The difference in weight between a XS Max and a 6 Plus in the hand is really noticeable. It feels like a brick (light brick) in comparison.

Comments here are too funny. People complain the batteries don't last long enough. So Apple puts in a bigger battery and its 20 grams heavier and people complain its a chunker and too heavy. Too funny.

Other manufacturers increase battery life without increasing weight since modern phones have reduced bezels... oh, there's the problem.

Wow, that is a heavy phone. Put a case on it and its now well over half a pound, sheesh. I was hoping it would come in lighter than the Xs Max.

I can only imagine the weight of next year's version if rumors are true that it will be 6.7".

So the 6.8” Note 10 Plus, with a stylus weighs 196 grams
The 6.5” iPhone 11 Pro Max weighs 226 grams

I’m not a small dude, and that’s gonna be a pocket problem since swapping from a Note 9, 201 grams, to a Note 10 Plus at 196 grams feels significantly lighter.

You know what other things weigh 226 grams

This bicycle seat.

its the #2 reason I'm not getting it. Wont even consider it simply for this reason. The jump from 7+ to XS Max weight stressed me out. Going from XS Max to this is just going to be even more stressful. No thanks

Bezels have ZERO to do with weight. Glass is glass is glass.

Maybe hmm stainless steel in the OLED iphone frames is approx 2.5 times heavier than aluminum that Samsung etc use Couldn't possibly be that could it?

Have some objectivity and facts

How much extra bulk does the charger and charging cable add?

If you don't like the size, get a the smaller phone.

Look I don't often share this publicly, and it’s something only a few close loved ones and coworkers know about me. The fact is, a couple years ago I was diagnosed with very-mild to mild intermittent carpal tunnel in one wrist. You would never know it from my other posts or anything, but it might be true and I’ve come to peace with that. But there are people like me everywhere and for us, the weight matters. We just want to go about our lives and not be subject to the tyranny of these beastly chunkerzzz! Haha

Edit: accuracy

For sure. I actually have the Xs max and I’m switching to a lighter device. I was just trying to make a humorous point about how some people like myself just find it heavy. Trying to lighten the mood i this thread lol.

Lol one time, it dropped on my face so hard that the noise startled my wife on other side of our king bed.
lol yeah can relate. Glad I've never gotten as unlucky as to hurt myself but sure startles me
Start the memes now.

1 U.S. quarter 25 cents weighs 5.67 grams

226 grams is 39.85 quarters that’s 40 U.S. quarters in your pocket worth of weight.
So equivalent weight of a roll of quarters? With comment quoted above a roll of quarters hitting you in the face is gonna hurt
