This is obviously a matter of preference as many have said here. I've already(along with others) been discussing this in another thread where people have decided to go from a XS Max to a pro this year.
The way to look at this is % increase, not just throwing around "oh whats a few grams" difference. The phones have been continuously getting heavier, and some don't like it including myself. To put things in perspective, We are up ~30% in weight now from the 6 plus phone. From last year's XS Max to the the pro plus alone, we are up ~8.5% in weight. You will certainly feel it. Many people who are in offices or have access to charging etc, don't need this type of crazy battery life. Is it nice to have? Yes, obviously. But if it's at the cost of the phone being bulkier, then I'll pass. It's not too different than saying everybody should use one of those bulky battery cases to get extra battery life and just deal with the extra size. Some people love those so they can get through days of usage, and some wouldn't be caught dead with them.
Every time you add weight to the phone- it becomes harder to use one handed or laying down/sideways. The balance in your hand just changes, and yes I get the new materials do this. I immediately noticed this when I got my XS max. To me this year the solution is to try the iphone pro model and go down in size. Since there is 0 difference in internals or camera, I'm willing to go back to the smaller size especially now that the smaller phone will now get similar battery life to the old Plus/Max models. I did enjoy having a larger screen, but I just don't want another 8+ % weight on my phone which I felt was already maxing out what I felt was comfortable. You could argue that Apple shouldn't really be advertising this as a "feature" upgrade, as almost any company out there could increase the weight of their phones (and this model is actually increased in all dimensions slightly) by making them more bulky so they can stuff a bigger battery in. I'm willing to bet they bring the weight back down next year at which point I'll consider going back to a bigger screen.
