The 6s was too heavy. And every phone after that has gotten even heavier.

So some people want a phone no larger than a credit card, expandable to the size of a home theatre for watching videos. Must be able to run AutoCAD with a professional grade camera. The battery life should be about 672 hours, and the phone should weigh no more than 5 standard size dove feathers. All for under $20.

I swear, if Apple gave away a bag of gold with the phone, some of you guys would complain it’s too heavy.

I am at a loss to understand MR respondents. For years people were complaining about Apple’s preoccupation with thin and light and limited battery life. Now that phones have gotten thicker and heavier and battery life is much better, people still complain. At what point does negativity stop?

Some people also complain about the added weight due to wireless charging. For those who have coordination difficulty or who are visually impaired, not having to use a cable to charge, is wonderful. I guess when you are young and/or not faced with disability, then it is harder to consider needs beyond yourself.

@jaybar,

...or perhaps some people are never happy unless they’re complaining about something.

Never before, has apple released so many phone options at once, and they still find something to complain about. If the 5/6/7 series phone was so great, why not just use those instead?

That’s clearly ridiculous now. I would easily pay up to $40 even $42. Ugh another bag of gold..I’m running out of storage space!

Those that prefer increased battery life at the cost of weight will accept the additional weight.

People that prefer lighter phones will object to the increased weight and size.

Different people will voice different opinions.

Battery life is the most important & most necessary feature for a mobile device. Therefore Apple made the correct decision to make the phones heavier to accommodate a larger battery & better internals.

Remember the iPhone is a portable device. It's not a tablet or a laptop. You want light weight. A half-pound phone is not light at all.

I'm even concerned about the increased weight of the 11 Pro (non Max) in comparison to the X (which is where I am coming from).

If an 8oz phone is causing you physical strife you need to embark on a moderate e exercise program.

I have an iPhone XS Max and I don't find it heavy. Adding 18 grams to it shouldn't be dramatic, if we get 5 additional hours of battery life. I think that this is a good trade off. Of course it would be interesting to see if the added weight makes the phone more difficult to use over an extended period of time, but I think we will be ok..

However you feel about it, isn't it a little interesting that the iPhone is the ONE part of the Apple hardware ecosystem that's getting bigger, thicker and heavier?

I had kept my 6 Plus around for a while even after getting a 7 Plus and then the XS Max.
The 7Plus felt much heavier compared the 6Plus and to me the the Max felt about the same as the 7Plus.

Now I have neither the 6 Plus or 7Plus just the Max so any weight difference doesn’t matter nothing to compare it to. When I get the 11 Max same thing I won’t notice the weight difference once the XS Max is gone.
