But macrumors forum users tell me the screen is piss yellow and I need to return the phone 20x to get a perfect one???

To be honest, I've experienced many naff screens... Apple would be sure to send pristine hand-picked units for review.

Personally, I see no difference between my Pro Max and my old XS Max screen.

How does the iPhone 11 Pro's screen compare to something like the new Galaxy Note? I went into a Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by how much better the Galaxy Note's screen looked compared to my XR.
What? the XR is an LCD screen. You'd have to compare a X/XS/11 pro with the Note.

Pretty big upgrade in my opinion. All these little features even coming from an XS Max make me super happy. The screen is a bit warmer making everything really vivid: Each camera is incredible. The battery is absolutely bonkers. The build quality is really solid. The software WILL be optimized in the coming weeks/month to open apps faster if not in the upcoming 13.1. The fact that it's IP68 water resistant up to 4 meters, that's better than any major flagship smartphone out there. The depth effect is massively improved on the front camera, and no longer blurs subjects shirts and just overall looks brilliant!

Continuing to raise the bar on color accuracy? How can that be when last year they said the same thing with the supposed holy grail 6500K white point? Wasn't that supposed to be as "color accurate" as it gets?

Something stinks here, I wonder if Displaymate is on Apple's dole. Either that or they are getting cherry picked units no doubt, because I've seen some horrendous screens out there, half yellow half pink, pink halos around the edges, green tinge gradients, etc., and I'm not even touching the yellow screen issue.

Apple doesn't make displays.
The best display up until now was the OnePlus 7 Pro and also got an A+.
Comparable to the iPhone 11 Pro Max and superiors in a couple of areas.

This was a couple of months ago:
The OnePlus 7 Pro matches or sets 10 Smartphone Display Performance Records for:
· Highest Absolute Color Accuracy (0.8 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Highest Image Contrast Accuracy and Intensity Scale Accuracy (2.20 Gamma) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Change in Peak Brightness with the Image Content APL (1 percent) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Shift in Color Accuracy with the Image Content APL (0.3 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Shift in Image Contrast and Intensity Scale with the Image Content APL (0.00) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Largest Native Color Gamut (111% DCI-P3 and 140% sRGB / Rec.709).
· Highest Contrast Ratio (Infinite).
· Lowest Screen Reflectance (4.6 percent).
· Smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle (22 percent at 30 degrees).
· Highest Visible Screen Resolution 3K (3120x1440) – 4K Does Not Appear Visually Sharper on a Smartphone.

Compared to the iPhone
The iPhone 11 Pro Max matches or sets new Smartphone Display Performance Records for:
Note that Numerical Performance Differences that are Visually Indistinguishable are considered Matched and Tied Performance Records.
· Highest Absolute Color Accuracy (0.9 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Smallest Shift in Color Accuracy with the Image Content APL (0.3 JNCD) – Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect.
· Highest Full Screen Brightness for OLED Smartphones (770 nits for 100% APL and 821 nits for 50% APL).
· Highest Full Screen Contrast Rating in Ambient Light (171 at 100% APL).
· Highest HDR Peak Brightness of 1,290 nits for standard HDR 20% APL, and 1,090 nits for Full Screen White with 100% APL.
· Highest Contrast Ratio (Infinite).
· Lowest Screen Reflectance (4.5 percent).
· Smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle (25% at 30 degrees).
· Highest Visible Screen Resolution 2.7K (2688x1242) – 4K Does Not appear visually sharper on a Smartphone.

If you look at the above results, you see that if you want accuracy the OnePlus 7 Pro is a better display.
If you want brightness the iPhone has the better display.
Both are stunning and both got an A+.

I guess, "thank you, Samsung" is in order?

Yes.

Yes.
Keep repeating that to yourself maybe it will became true 😂
Comparing an OnePlus to an iPhone ? Really ?

So basically Samsung is making a better display for Apple than for its own products... this says much about Apple requirements compared to others.

It’s not just Samsung’s panels that Apple is using to make them better, Apples custom calibration specs’ with brightness/color gamut/temperature is what makes thei displays attractive. If you compare Apples OLED display next to a Samsung display, Samsung‘s calibration specs tend to be much more saturated with colors. It’s all about the calibration, but yes, Samsung manufactures a quality OLED panel.

For all the complaints on here, it would seem the 11 Pro has impressed just about all the experts in all areas...I gotta say I picked mine up Saturday, and I am quite impressed with everything, even coming from a XS...The display was no different on that front, quite impressive

So you are saying that you see a big difference in the screen between the 11 Pro and the XS?
All I"m seeing is slightly brighter with the 11 Pro.

Ohhh. FFS give up on the notch... you act like it's half the display......

It's very obstructive when apps are making use of the full screen displays with bright colors. Thankfully dark mode options have been helping that a lot but I definitely still have not been able to get used to it.

Where’s the android fanboys saying their note 10 or 10+ is better display?

(p.s it goes a long way to show how much Apple does with their displays because even if they get them from Samsung - depending on who they go with it’s sometimes someone else - they still make it better than Samsung does their own phones... which is pretty pathetic on Samsung’s end)

So basically Samsung is making a better display for Apple than for its own products... this says much about Apple requirements compared to others.

Samsung provides the manufacturing plant, that’s it. Nothing in iPhone is physically made by Apple, it is made in factories owned by other companies. The design and technology in the chip, in the screen, etc. - that’s Apple. It is quite literally an Apple display.

So predictable.

“The new iPhone has the best camera, cpu, gpu, display, <insert component name> that we have ever measured”.

Rinse repeat.
It's funny how Android fanboys like to keep quoting Dxomark's Pixel 2 rating to brag about how great the Pixel phone is but they dismiss DisplayMate, which seems at the very least as good at displays as Dxomark is at photography.

Apple does have by far the best chip in handsets. It's a lead they maintain throughout the year.
