anyone else getting an error when attempting to enter cellular info for T-Mobile preapproval? is it just because i’m on an employee discount line? i thought it shouldn’t matter as i’m not financing via T-Mobile
Mine informed me that I had a balance and that I could still go through with it. I’m not sure why, never have had that before. My bill is do next week but I have my statement now.

Any benefits to buying through apple vs verizon and sim free vs verizon? Paid in full if that matters. I want to be able to use FI when I travel internationally and use verizon on the esim the rest of the time
Apple's system is better overall. Also, if you finance, the loan is through CitizenOne

If you get an iPhone loan with Verizon, the phone isn't really yours and Verizon can disable your device for missed payments. Citizen one can't do that. I'm not saying you should miss payments, but the device is yours when you buy it from Apple. You're basically leasing it from Verizon.

Thanks for making this!

Excited to pre-order the iPhone 11 Pro once it's announced and subsequently released.

I would like to chime in and remind everyone that iStockNow is helpful - I've gotten my last two iPhones a day or two after the release in store even when they were sold out everywhere.

Thanks for this! Very thorough!

For those who were already enrolled in the the iUP, this years preapproval didn’t trigger a hard pull on your credit, correct? In the past it’s been a soft pull, but figured I’d ask.

Thanks in advance!

I'm already in the program. Completed the pre-approval for a SG 256GB 11 Pro without a hitch even with TransUnion locked. Double-checked that there wasn't a hit reported on TU. There wasn't, so yup, a soft hit.

EDIT: FYI...iPhone 11 cases are now available online at the Apple Store. Ordered a saddle brown leather case for my 11Pro. Regular delivery on the 13th.

Regarding selecting a carrier during preorder:

I have an XS Max that I purchased unlocked at full price from a local Apple Store last year. Within the 14 day return period, I went to the Apple Store and had them convert my Max to the iUP (they returned the device and resold it to me on the iUP). For the upcoming launch, I've checked my upgrade eligibility on the Apple Store app (several times), and it says that I'm good to go for upgrading on the iUP. Also, I'm on the AT&T grandfathered unlimited data plan.

When I go through the iUP process during preorder, do I need to select AT&T as my carrier? If so, will my new device be locked to AT&T? Apple does not sell unlocked sim free iPhones on the iUP, but my understanding is that the TMobile devices are unlocked and that if I buy one of these models on the iUP and simply insert my current sim into the TMobile iPhone, it'll work. I think that TMobile is the only carrier where we're not required to have a current account active with them when we choose the iUP. Is this correct?

To be on the safe side, I will probably choose the AT&T device, but I'd rather have the iPhone unlocked, if possible. Maybe it doesn't even really matter (unless I decide to sell the device in the future) since I'm going to stay with my AT&T plan, but I'd appreciate any info.

This is what my apple store app says regarding SIM lock/unlock:

thanks. adding to the front page
[doublepost=1568167305][/doublepost]@Weaselboy , can we get this and the other carrier threads pinned? They're really active but getting overrun by other threads (see the T-mobile thread)

Thank you for the heads up! My wife just did her pre-approval and no notification of an inquiry so it sounds like it’s still a soft pull for existing iUP members.

Hmmm....were you already enrolled in the iUP?
No IUP. Only did the 24 month 0 financing on the 7+ 3yrs ago. Phone is still perfect...

Today after watching the keynote, I decided the 11 was a perfect replacement although I would never use half the features....

I got an Equifax pull.
Correction noted - just checked and you are correct - they pulled from Experian.

Same here, had to copy it from the wallet app.
On my iPhone XS everything populated automatically (when getting the pre-approval for a iPhone 11 Black), but on my wife's 8+ (she is going for the iPhone 11 Red) I had to enter everything. I guess it is because my XS is only 12 months of payments - enough to upgrade - but her 8+ is fully paid off.

Added to the front page. Thanks sir
Yep got my preapproval done a couple of minutes after 4 PM CDT. Quick as usual. Space grey, 512 GB iPhone Pro Max, time to go back to the larger format and max ram. I do not see much readiness for 5G next year it is way to early going to take several years so this will be awesome phone for me. Let the fun begin as we travel from China and start worrying about flights LOL

Got pre-approval for the white 11Pro 256GB.

I told myself I'd skip this one...

oh well
I was on fence but the camera tech is always of interest. I am on iUP anyway, I do not see 5G being much for several years so waiting for that next year did not stop me. I moved back up from Xs to a Pro Max (space grey) with 512 GB to really go big and have photo storage space.

That’s my favorite part! I just hope mine doesn’t start out stateside like it did last year. Talk about a boring week.
More fun going through typhoons

It's kind of a matter of not needing the bigger device. I told myself after this year I would probably drop back down to the comfortable 5.8" form factor.
I did the X and Xs down from the 7s Max. But decided I wanted Max again iike having a iPad mini for video watching.

I’m doubting my choice on Silver but then I remember that I’ll have it for one year and go with the Space Grey next year for the big redesign most likely. :D

Yesterday I never would have thought that I'd be selecting a green iPhone this year. I don't like the iPhone 11 green at all but the Pro looks slick.

I'm so glad that they let us go through preapproval now so that we don't have to deal with this on preorder day.

Just a data point for those wondering like I was....

Just completed my pre-approval as an existing iUP enrollee and DID get a hard credit inquiry via Equifax. Not the end of the world, but it kinda sucks having a hard pull every year for a phone. Oh well.

It sounds like whether or not a hard pull happens can vary from person to person:

"Citizens One reserves the right to perform a credit inquiry as needed to determine loan eligibility. Depending on your account performance and transactional history in the iPhone Upgrade Program, Citizens One may approve your new loan application without your credit being impacted."
