GL to all you pre orderers, hope you all get launch day deliveries! I've been one of you for the last three years but will keep my XsMax for one more year. Just can't justify dropping over $1k for an upgrade that only has an extra camera lens. I'm already looking forward to the 2020 phone.
I like the green one but I don’t want to risk low stock of that one. So I’m still undecided between it and space gray. I think the matte space gray is really nice and a neutral goes with everything kinda color.
I don't know that I would be that concerned about that. More recently it seems these preorders have gone very smoothly over all.
Last year, I wanted to restore the new iPhone from a backup, but the backup had a different iOS than the new iPhone, so this year, I'm going to update my Xs Max to iOS 13 on the 19th. And I'll update the Apple Watch too. Then I will back up. So, I'll be ready on the 20th.
I think the biggest difference will be the amount of people awake at this new order time.
This thread is such a breath of fresh air interacting with people who are excited about their upgrades. Thank you @AustinIllini for starting it.
I got burned badly by that one year. I upgraded my existing phone to 12.1 (or was it 11) and made a backup. My new phone had 12.0 on it and the upgrade severs were slammed so I couldn't upgrade it to 12.1. But I couldn't restore my backup onto my new phone because the backup was a newer version than what it was running.

That's true, but I'd be interested to know how many casual users are all that interested in ordering at the first moment.
Yea it certainly isn't like it used to be. I wouldn't really normally care but I have a vacation 5 days after launch day so I'd really love to take the new phone/camera with us.
The more I think about it the more I think I’m going to go for it. Worst that happens is I have to wait a few more days. But I have a XS Max so I’m not missing much if I do.

Don’t think there will be a difference. If you got up at 3AM EST or 12AM Pacific or anywhere in between you are a hardcore user. If your waiting and refreshing at 5AM-8AM this year your probably a hardcore user. The average joe isn’t going to jump the gun for a phone
Gotcha and you're probably right. I'm not looking forward to the timing but figured demand might be down.. then I see so many people saying what they are ordering, already buying cases.. it's so hard to predict. I think a lot of people skipped last time and might jump this time.
This is actually a perfect pre order day. I have to work overnight tomorrow night so I'm going to stay up all night and sleep after my pre order.
So I’m not sure this process...do we just go back to the Apple store & our phone is already saved? We don’t have to go back thru the selection correct? Also I was initially denied thru Citizenone because my credit report was locked...someone called me last night to verify I submitted application. I haven’t received any further email other than the “Come Back to Pre-order”.
Yes, that's a big benefit of the pre-approval. Your selection is saved and you just confirm. You can make changes if you want to but don't have to.

For my iUP, I'll be choosing the in-store pick up (hopefully I'll make it), and order the sim-free model and do that for home delivery, but will be requesting a hold for pick up at UPS CC. Since they open form 10 to 12:30 pm and 4 pm to 6 PM, I'll likely go pick it up at 4 pm or so.
I wish we had control over whether Fedex or UPS is used. Holding at a Kinkos is so much more convenient for me. When I hold with UPS the distribution center is across town.
Pre Orders are UPS because UPS handles the shipments from China which in this case is where everyones will start from.
