I had a nightmare with pre-order last year (somehow, despite preapproval, it went through as a new iUP instead of an upgrade/trade-in, and was a huge mess to fix) so was relieved at how smooth it went this year.

Got in right at 5am, picked my store pick-up time to match the pickup time for my Series 5 watch, and had the confirmation email 14 minutes later. Citizens approval email came a couple of hours later, and order is in Processing. iPhone 11 Pro Max in Space Gray. I'm usually on the new color bandwagon, but the green just didn't wow me this year. Maybe I'll regret it once I see them in person...we'll see.

I love the vibe of the Apple store on launch day, but I do miss the fun of tracking all the flights from China across the world. :)
Same flow as ours but no watch, and we got 64GB Maxes in Green and Gold. Flowed totally smooth with the preapprovals auto filling. Longest part was picking the Pickup Date and Timeslot.

Thank you for sharing that! do you have a promo code? lol i dont want to pay $5.00 or $40.00.

Do you already have UPS mychoice or are you just signing up? If your just signing up now it's somewhat worthless to you as you must verify your address before it will start showing you packages being shipped to you.

Last year, I was able to do the hold at the distribution center nearest me. I've had MyChoice for years now, and have used it at least the last 3 years that I can recall. Worked great, other than getting a message about a "hold" or "tentative date" (something like that) but it cleared and I showed up at the UPS CC, and as I was in line it pinged that my order was ready for pickup. There were a couple of folks ahead of me. They needed to get them moved from across the street.

Did this for my X. Worked pretty well. Had some glitches but ended up with my phone at about 7:15am on launch day.

Great thread! I ordered Verizon iPhone Pro Max 256gb space gray at 8:03, and already was kicked back to Oct 1-4 delivery. But after reading this thread, I discovered that the UNLOCKED phones with same specs were available for Sept 20 deliver, so cancelled order, reordered unlocked, and will then just move the SIM card over.... nice!

Am I the only one who placed a store pickup iUP order for launch day and still doesn’t have a tax charge or anything on my credit card?

Ordered at 10:57am PST. I thought delivery would be much later since I was ordering this late, but I can wait. Still, I got a 9/20 delivery date. Either demand isn't as high, or the supply is sufficient. Either way, yay for me. :D

I dont think there is any way to avoid the upgrade fee other than switching carriers.
Sure there are a couple of ways but both involve paying full price at time of purchase vs payments. The payment terms are what requiring you to activate the device with a carrier which triggers the "Upgrade" fee.

Purchase a SIM Free iPhone or purchase a carrier model at retail and reuse your current active carrier SIM.

What are you doing to that they are making you pay $40? Are you signing up for a premium service? You don't need to have the premium service. Signing up for UPS My Choice is FREE.
Membership has a fee for $40.00

I ordered the same exact thing as soon as the store went live and my date is sep 27th - oct 1st. Weird.

Ok guys so totally off topic but I saw Verizon come up.

right now I have 4 lines, mine a xs, my husband an iPhone 7, my dad a note 4, and my daughter a pixel 3

can I swap SIM cards to make it:

me the new iPhone pro, my husband my old xs, my dad for my daughters pixel, and my daughter my husbands 7

lol I know I know, everyone is wanting to swap phones

I accidentally ordered a sim free phone so I did get Verizon to mail me a sim card. But I didn’t realize SIM cards can be swapped around. Would that work for me? Then maybe I won’t have to pay activation fees

Either Apple’s inventory count for early orders is wayyyyy off and all those early backorders will get moved up or those new orders will get delayed.

Lots of stuff making 0 sense this morning.
