Either Apple’s inventory count for early orders is wayyyyy off and all those early backorders will get moved up or those new orders will get delayed.

Lots of stuff making 0 sense this morning.

It is Friday the 13th after all. Hence the screwups. They should have known better than to start preorders today.

I don't think anyone likes that dumb hidden finance charge at all. And no one else makes you pay extra without anything in return (insurance etc...)

I don't understand the issue. I did the math? The +$5 is so you end up paying 1/2 the phone in a year which you have to do to upgrade. The rip off would be if you decide later NOT to upgrade, then you are still paying $5 - I'm not sure if that just pays off your phone faster in that case?

The alternative strategy is to skip the upgrade fee then when you decide you definitely want to upgrade, simply pay off the balance so that you are 1/2 paid.

Am I missing something?

Well, I kind of screwed up. lol. I was pre-approved for my iUP upgrade as it's been for the past few years but I swear I had "reserved" a 256GB Space Grey Pro Max but it being 5am and half asleep (I'm currently on the west coast), It seems I ordered a 256 Space Grey Pro instead. It was probably about 5:03AM when the order finally went through via the app and I went back to sleep.

What's weird it that the order at 5:03AM has a ship date of Oct 1-4 per the email I saw when I woke up. Have the dates really slipped to that? For the Pro? after 3 minutes?? Or is that just some weird thing and the shipping update should course correct soon? And shouldn't it have been reserved from my pre-approval? That's what happened last year.

Anyway, in an attempt to fix my error, I am thinking about just ditching iUP this year and went to put the 256K Space Grey Pro Max on order at 10am and it is scheduled to arrive on 9/20 Launch Day. It's really annoying that there's such a big shipping difference between SIM Free and the required carrier phones for iUP.

Membership has a fee for $40.00

You didn't need the premium membership to track your phone and to have it held at the Call Center. You only need to pay for the membership if you want the 2 hour window and for them to deliver USPS SmartPost packages. BTW, I wouldn't bother with the membership just for the 2 hour delivery window. At least where I live, UPS never gives you that option on iPhone delivery day. I think that they are just too swamped and can't guarantee a 2 hour window. Plus, with a free membership, if UPS is offering the 2 hour window, you can just pay the $5 that day instead of the whole year. Lots of people use the tracking without the premium membership.

I ordered pro max SG 256g within seconds. Apple Card charged a little, emails, processing, etc, everything so smooth I was shocked. I went back to bed just after 5am my time so I’m 20 some pages behind, but hope most people have smooth sailing and those with glitches see them fixed ASAP.

Disappointed that at 5:03 my pre approval was already a Sept 27. Silver 256 iPhone 11. Ordered it. Went back and ordered a 64 Green for sept 20 pick up. May jts go with green 64 since I have 64 now and still have 26 gigs remaining.

I’ve looked at this hard several times in the last few years. Unless I want to download my entire music library to my phone, 64 really is enough for me - my numbers are similar to yours. Why pay for space I won’t use? YMMV of course.

If I ordered a Watch for 10:00am on launch since that was all they had listed at the time, and then later ordered iPhone for 8:00am that same day for launch, will they make me leave and come back to get my Watch or will they let me get both items during my earliest pickup time?

Ordered at 10:57am PST. I thought delivery would be much later since I was ordering this late, but I can wait. Still, I got a 9/20 delivery date. Either demand isn't as high, or the supply is sufficient. Either way, yay for me. 😀

I dont think there is any way to avoid the upgrade fee other than switching carriers.

Pay up front for an unlocked phone and just swap SIM cards.

For those that had early post Launch day projected deliveries in the past, how soon after placing the order did the delivery time frame change? Trying not to be too optimistic that my 9/27-10/1 window was going to moved forward, but if it were, when would it happen?

Such a joke. Placed an order at 5:01 Pacific for a silver 256GB Sim-free iPhone 11 Pro Max and got 9/23 delivery (not launch date). Was grumpy at the time.

Just placed another order NOW, 7 hours later, for the SAME phone, sim-free, and got 9/20 launch day delivery.

What the heck, Apple?

It normally stays the same until you get the shipped notification. You get the shipped notification when the shipment gets the import scan. So you'll get charged, see your package in UPS my choice and start seeing movement before the status order updates.

I don't know if something changed last year as I didn't order, but until the X it was like that.
