Oh boy, woke up this morning to another email saying payment didn’t go through. I updated and at least got an e-mail this time confirming payment change. Hope it still delivers on Friday.

Same thing happened to me, here’s hoping we still get it on Friday or earlier if that’s possible!

Mine changed to preparing to ship sometime overnight! Haven't tried finding anything with UPS yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before I'm trying lol

Despite preparing to pre-order, I encountered several difficulties. The Apple Store app lost the connection after pressing the "Place Order" button causing the app to get stuck on the spinning circle. After another failed attempt with the Apple Store app, I tried the website with my laptop, but then the trade-in service became temporarily unavailable. After several attempts on the website I was able to place the order with the trade-in of my iPhone Xs Max and a gift card that I had to redeem manually. Despite the delays, I surprisingly got a September 20th delivery date on a Space Grey 256GB iPhone 11 Pro Max. As of this morning, my "order is being prepared for shipment." If the customs authorities of China and/or South Korea do not cause shipping delays, I should get my order delivered next Friday.

This was the easiest preorder by far.

April 20th!?!?

And people thought the 11 would be a flop if shipping delays are that far out. :D

I opted for ship to store so I cannot track it like every year before. :/

It may be different with the iPhone (but I doubt it), but I was able to track my MacBook Pro on launch week when I ordered it to be picked up in the store. You just have to use your cell phone or order number as reference

Ordered 3 phones. The last of which was a Pro Max 256 Silver AT&T.

The first 2 orders are showing a 20th delivery date.

The Silver phone however is showing 9/27-10/1 delivery (ordered at 7:08 CST).

Apple says “We have everything necessary to complete your order, we’ll update your delivery date when your order is preparing to ship.”

I guess my interpretation of everything necessary is different than Apple. If you got everything necessary (including an iPhone)...it would not be late!

No big deal, it’s my wife’s phone and she could care less...just find it humorous how Apple couches their processing statement.

Looks like 1 return box is being shipped, so far. (Need 2).

0.2lbs from Compton, CA. 2nd Day Air. Seems expensive service for an empty box.

Phones are “preparing to ship”.

It would be nice if Apple threw us a bone and shipped them out before launch day. That's one thing I like about a few other OEMs, they ship their phones days before launch.

Oh they'll SHIP before launch day..... They'll start moving tomorrow, Mon, Tues..... However even if they make it to the states.... UPS will put a hold on them in kentucky and not DELIVER them until Friday.

You don't really see the early deliveries anymore like you used to and if you do it's someone with connections that works at a carrier and get their phone out of the delivered pile and not UPS messing up.

I thought I’d retell the story of my first iPhone purchase. It was the original iPhone. I was on month-to-month with Verizon because I knew I was going to dump them when the iPhone came out. The launch Friday came and went and I didn’t purchase an iPhone. It was now Saturday and I was curious, so I called the Columbia, MD Apple Store and asked the person, “I’m very sorry to disturb you; you must be really busy, but how long are the lines for the iPhone?” He replied, “Oh, there are no lines.” I said, “Well, do you still have any iPhones?” He replied, “Oh yes, we have iPhones.” The next thing I remember is tearing off to the Columbia Apple Store for my first iPhone.

I ordered a Verizon model, selected "Activate later" to save time and my order status does not say anything about Verizon. Is that normal if I didn't go thru the carrier authorization at order time? Or am I getting a phone with no SIM card? Do the unlocked ones have the CDMA bands necessary for Verizon?

Not sure to be honest you can read on apple website on the specs or contact apple about it.

I think I put it in the first post on this thread, but the only "locked" phones are the AT&T Next ones so it's reasonable they don't show the carrier.

Yes. Verizon only ships the unlocked ones

Order Page may not display if it's Verizon model, but you will get the Verizon Model. It will still come with the Verizon SIM card, which you can actually just remove that one and insert your current SIM card. Sim-Free models will have all necessary bands and it will work on Verizon network. I've used Sim-free XS max on version and works fine.

Same Exact boat!!!

Same exact phone (ATT), with IUP, did the whole pre-approval thing. I am on the west coast, up at 4:50 am, start trying the app, black splash screen up until about 5:03ish, get it, few clicks, shows sep 20th date, I finally get to a screen where I need to confirm credit card which is so stupid (use to be able Apple Pay) nonetheless I was done within seconds, by the time I was out, no joke still 5:03AM, with later ship date.

Same experience for me as well. I’ve been preordering online since you could do so and have always gotten a launch day ship date. Couldn’t get into the app until 5:02 with two different phones (Lte/WiFi). Was able to get a pickup date no problem for me, but wife’s phone required updated credit card info. Still completely confused why it asked for this when I was pre approved and have 8 cards on Apple Pay.

Now at 9/27-10/3 and order was placed at 5:03 for Verizon silver 256 Pro. Hoping this will be their “surprise and delight” bs, but the ordering process sure wasn’t for me this year.

For future reference, any thoughts on why so many people got into the Apple store before me? Also, if this happens again next year where in store pickup is availability for an hour after my 9/27 ship date, can I just cancel and re-place the order?
