Ok, I’ll bite.
Apple Flagship vs. Samsung flagship:

iPhone XS Max w/ 512gb internal - $1349
Samsung Note 10+ 5g w/ 512gb internal - $1299

Ummmmm..... so, where’s that “much smaller iPhone storage at higher prices”?

Worst attempt at a false comparison ever

5G, a stylus, and still cheaper, ouch

Plus with Apple you need to include the cost of buying the real charger separately

And one has to factor in 5 years of support and best in class service. Ouch.

And yet note sales have been abysmal. Ouch.

Customer service demanding to be called geniuses before they lie to you and suggest any fault requires a new phone is not best in class

Apple service has been garbage for years

5 years of OS updates is different to 5 years of support. They're two very different things. In reality your support is limited to the warranty you get and/or additionally pay for through AppleCare. Out of warranty "support" is far from friendly from a pricing perspective.

There are definitely big pluses to the way Apple does things but there are big minuses too. Depends on which way the coin is when its your turn to flip it. I've had both ends of the spectrum with spectacularly good and spectacularly bad.

I haven’t been lied to, so that makes some general statements about that and service untrue. Now, if you’re talking anecdotally...

Umm I hope all that spin isn't making you dizzy.

lets compare the price of the non 5G Note, you know for a fair comparison..

here in the UK..

iPhone XS Max 256gb £1249

Note 10 + 256gb £1099

So yeah same storage capacity at significantly lower price.

EDIT: The 5G note 256gb configuration is actually £1099 so £148 cheaper than the Xs Max. The non 5G note 10 + is £999 so £248 cheaper.

Looking forward to seeing what they can cook up for this generation. I'm not expecting much, and am planning on holding onto my iPhone X for another year...

I like the idea of Pro but enough numbers (they don't line up anymore)

iPhone XR = iPhone
iPhone XS = iPhone Pro 5.8"
iPhone XS Max = iPhone Pro 6.5"

Just have their naming line up with the rest of their products. We don't have MacBook Pro 20 or iPad Pro 4.

Note is cheaper no doubt but when you come to sell both the max and note you get that difference back as the iPhone will have at least a £300 better resale value than the note will...so really yeah the iPhone costs 200 more but when it comes to phone value it all evens out in the end...

let’s look at comparison here

note 9 on comparison sites resell value is £300

iPhone XS Max 256GB is still £700-750

so yeah massive difference

Funny, I and everyone I know would disagree. So would numerous customer satisfaction surveys. Wondering where you're pulling your information from?

But you're right it's not fair to compare the Note 10 to the iPhone XS Max. The Note 10 is the epitome of a "wannabee" device. All these so-called productivity features (like Dex) that are severely handicapped by running an inferior OS with a lousy ecosystem and Fisher Price Apps written by developers who are too lazy to even optimize them for flagship devices.

XS is still Apple's latest phone

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Max, iPhone 11 R. Still don’t know what the ‘R’ stand for. Then next year they will be iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 R. Pretty simple.

Apple just needs to get back.on the ball with "real" innovative features. I'm a die hard iFan but can we get more than just camera upgrades???

Errr way to miss the point....the Xs is 11 months old and still has a better resale value of over £450 on comparison sites...so really the cost of the two matters very little as you get far more money back from your iPhone

Hopefully you are right as the prices are insane anyway....

They are high, but I’ve always felt Apple products were expensive. They last and provide good value for most so it really just comes down to the individual and what they value most.

I hear this a lot. What are some suggestions? What are some innovative features being introduced from competition?

You missed the point. Let's see what happens to the XS prices AFTER Apple has already announced and started pre-orders for it's next phone. (Although according to the rumours there's nothing actually worth having in the new iPhone.)

You don't "get your money back" unless you stop buying iPhones, you just put it towards your next overpriced phone.

The value won’t drop that much...you are still looking at 600-650 for last years model even when the new one is out.

of course you get your money back as due to the higher value you are spending far less for a new phone

all android phones lose their value weeks and months after release. So if anything the prices of the new Samsung are more overpriced as you don’t get any return back when you do decide to upgrade to the next model.

The new iPhone will be camera improvement based and be minor but not much difference to the note 10 as that Improvement was very minor as well.

if you keep your iPhone for 2-4 years you get money back with it...you keep your android 2-4 years you have no hope of getting any return

Did anyone else find the way the lens was group in a big rectangular box shape is just and eyesore ? Or was it just me?
People raised a huge stink over the notch as well. This could well be another one of those things which seems more problematic in theory, but few actually have any issues with it in real life.
