iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Users Complain of Missing SMS Text Messages and Message Notifications

My big problem is that the Capital One app, which has shown notifications whenever I use my Capital One Mastercard, no longer shows notifications on my iPhone 12 unless it's an Apple Pay purchase over NFC. I think Apple needs to address this with the final iOS 14.3 release in December 2020. 
I had this issue with my Amex and Wells Fargo cards in Apple Wallet (basically....all cards other than Apple Card). Not sure if the 14.2 update, re-setting up my phone due to the missing SMS issues, moving to Big Sur with similar Notifications experience, or those banking apps were updated. This is soooooo frustrating. Happening on my iPhone 12 pro and wife’s iPhone 12, both on T-Mobile. T-Mobile had excellent customer service trying to troubleshoot. Apple seems to care less and wants to point the finger at the carriers. Hope they fix or I see a Samsung in my future
I had this issue with both my wife’s and I’s new 12 pros. You need to call or chat with Verizon or whoever you have, and have them reset your SMS services. They will most likely reset everything but it will fix it. A 5 minute phone call fixed it for both our phones!

This is a major problem. I was running 14.1 on Friday with new 12 Pro Max - and received some SMS for verifications etc. Come Saturday, no SMS messages at all. I did another sim swap with my network and this didn't resolve it - also followed all the steps in this thread and it didn't lead to any resolution. I can't setup apple pay with banks, can't re-auth bank apps on new iphone, can't auth payments, can't log in to anything that has two factor auth to SMS. This is an absolute nightmare
To clarify, now running 14.2 and didn't change the issue. Also weird that I was receiving them to begin with before it stopped which suggests maybe something Apple-side
So you called and had them reset your SMS services? I was able to have the rep do this for me and while on the phone still he had me text a “non-iPhone” friend and waited until I received a response. It worked perfect once he did what he did.
I haven't tried that with EE, but have been chatting to Apple support this morning and they have no idea what to do with this problem. I'm now having the same issue on iOS 14.1 on an old iPhone X
Well, follow those instructions and call your carrier, make sure you tell them to reset the SMS services. If you don’t tell them they will waste your time with a bunch of other ideas and might never think to do it. Sometimes they just need a little help in the right direction! Good luck.
Same problem with my 12Pro Max. I called Apple Support, they advised to reset all settings which I have did and it made no difference. So still not working and now I need to restore my phone again

Since the release of the new iPhone 12 models, many new iPhone owners have been running into problems with the Messages app. There are complaints from users who aren't seeing SMS messages from friends, are missing text messages in group chats, and who aren't getting notifications when text messages are incoming.
It's not clear if this is a problem that's related specifically to the iPhone 12 models or if it's a wider issue with iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, but the majority of complaints appear to be from iPhone 12 owners.
Those who are experiencing missed SMS messages are simply not seeing some text messages that are sent from Android devices, as MacRumors reader FraXis describes:Most of the people who are missing SMS messages are not seeing them in group chats, but there are reports of some standalone messages not getting delivered. Some Verizon users have been able to solve their SMS messages by downloading the Verizon Message+ app, but it's not a complete fix for everyone and it doesn't work for all non-Verizon users. One reader also had success resetting network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings), but that has not worked for others. Toggling off 5G also does not seem to be a solution.
This is likely a problem that carriers need to address with updated firmware or that Apple needs to fix in an upcoming software update. It appears to be a problem in both iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, and it's too soon yet to tell if iOS 14.3 is affected.

You just need to be patient for 24 hours after swapping the Sim card or changing to new esim in your new iphone..provider will activate you SMS services after that.
This isn't a thing in the UK. I used to work for a UK network, and hasn't been the case with my current network before. Some regions may be different, but definitely not a UK thing, so not the right guidance in this case. Has also been more than 24 hours since my last sim swap
OK- EE in the UK tried everything, including resetting network settings at their end and mine with no success. They have escalated it to a device specialist team to see if they have any notices from Apple. Have owned every gen iPhone and this is the worst launch ever which is a shame because so happy with the new pro max! Definitely seems like an iOS problem.

Don't get any message notifications if the phone is locked. Outlook mail client notifications work even if the phone is locked, MS Authenticator app does not.
Apple support have been basically useless so far. The first guy I spoke with told me that notifications don't work on the phone if you have an Apple Watch(?!).
I’m working with a Sr Tech Support rep and just sent her this story with the comments. I’ve been at it for a week, tried doing a factory reset, toggling 5G on and off. Definitely didn’t fix the issue. Hopefully if enough of us have escalated this, Apple will acknowledge and fix the problem.
I am experiencing this as well. I have verizon. iPhone 12 pro.
I am in a group text with 3 iPhone users and and one android, and I do not get texts from one or some of them sometimes in that group chat.
Cant tell if thats the only time, but it is the only time I am able to verify since others reply and I am lost in context. I then sent screenshots of the conversation.

I’m also in the UK and it’s still happening on 14.3 beta as of now.
