I thought this was a Verizon issue. I’m missing texts all the time, it’s most noticeable in group texts since someone will comment on something, I’m confused, then find that one or two texts are missing for me. Frustrating.

Same issue here. I thought it was a Verizon issue because they had a real hard time activating my phone. I made a Genius appointment and they gave me a new SIM and said they’ve never seen the issue. Still seems to have the issue sporadically and now I get a message “Last line no longer available” when making calls. I’m just glad it’s not just me.

To make matters worse the one person in the specific group chat without an iPhone is my dad and he refuses to assimilate even after I offered to buy him a new phone.

Same. Upgraded to a 12 Pro and a missing message in group chat from another iPhone user.

I upgraded from the XS to the 12Pro and up until yesterday I was able to receive text messages and now all of a sudden I no longer receive any messages. Oh yeah I am on Verizon’s network and have reset my settings with no luck as of yet. Please help with getting this fixed!

My wife has same issue. iOS 14.2 on iPhone 11. Missing notifications. When I message her the message instantly says ‘read’ at my end, at her end no notification but my message is there.

iPhone 11 Pro user here ... notifications are borked system wide with 14.2. Homekit has been the most noticeable for me, but messages show up on my computer and not my phone.

12 pro Max here: it will not clear 1 email from my inbox. 2 other devices show zero actual mail in the inbox, yet the new phone still shows “1” . Reboots on all 3 devices does not fix it. It won’t flush the cache or the notification subsystem.

** WiFi on ALL the devices in the house by Speedtest will show and have shown for 2 years 150/150 ...new phone 90 down and 40-90 up, freaking weird.

this is after I let it sit on the charger and do background processes for 45 minutes and removed it when the battery hit 96%

sidenote: the clear oem case is SLIPPERY as f*ck! So it’s going to be returned.

5G in my area is non-existent, so I get the same numbers as my iPhone 8+/iPhone 11 pro, and 2018 iPad Pro 12.9.

user since iPhone 3G era...

1: the phone was wiped and restored to 14.2 prior to setting up as new, and running nothing but Speedtest app and Geekbench 5

2: the phone was running with WiFi only or WiFi off during said tests

3: blue tint on display, even compared to the wife’s 11 pro (True Tone / etc. turned off, Max brightness

4: T-Mobile post paid.

r: Geekbench 5 scores are within 1-5 of others on both cpu/compute

i expect nothing less from 2020

Thank God I rely only on WhatsApp and Telegram for messaging. SMS no one cares now a days.....mostly junks are coming as SMS in my region.

Same Problem here in Germany with Vodafone within normal iMessage conversations.
The sender of the message, which is not notified, gets the info that the message got read by me although i didn’t read it.

Just for the record, I am absolutely not a fan of WhatsApp and I do very much care about privacy. I do not have a facebook account. My statement was just what I have observed from my contacts. More and more, people send me messages on WhatsApp instead of text. I always prefer text, but I have gotten complaints, especially from Android users, that my texts arrive at odd hours of the night, which is not when I sent them. Nowadays, I find that Android users among my contacts seem to prefer WhatsApp even for making phone calls, because the call quality is better.

If it were for me, I would not even use WhatsApp. I downloaded it for the first time only 2 years ago and it is something that was forced by circumstance (I had some health issues and family from abroad wanted a way to reach me).
In my place WhatsApp being used for customer care, even tracking shipment from websites, booking service calls, even Banks, Mobile providers offer services. Local brick & mortar shops use WhatsApp to connect to its loyal customer base.....SMS is primarily used only for receiving One Time Passwords.

Mine is an iPhone X but similar issue.

Also for some reason some but not all new messages both in Messages and Email are placed at the bottom of the list instead of the top. This behaviour is random and doesnt happen all the time.

In addition, since iOS 14; some iMessages are not visible but show up as the number bubble on the icon. A force close and reopen of the Messages app seems to make them reappear.

Buggy software as expected from modern day Apple unfortunately 😢

Since the release of the new iPhone 12 models, many new iPhone owners have been running into problems with the Messages app. There are complaints from users who aren't seeing SMS messages from friends, are missing text messages in group chats, and who aren't getting notifications when text messages are incoming.

It's not clear if this is a problem that's related specifically to the iPhone 12 models or if it's a wider issue with iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, but the majority of complaints appear to be from iPhone 12 owners.

Those who are experiencing missed SMS messages are simply not seeing some text messages that are sent from Android devices, as MacRumors reader FraXis describes:Most of the people who are missing SMS messages are not seeing them in group chats, but there are reports of some standalone messages not getting delivered. From MacRumors reader TheElmnt:There are also separate complaints of Messages being received, but no notification showing up. This is a problem that even pre-dates the iPhone 12 and iOS 14, as we've had earlier issues with it too. From MacRumors reader bmac4:
Some Verizon users have been able to solve their SMS messages by downloading the Verizon Message+ app, but it's not a complete fix for everyone and it doesn't work for all non-Verizon users. One reader also had success resetting network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings), but that has not worked for others. Toggling off 5G also does not seem to be a solution.

This is likely a problem that carriers need to address with updated firmware or that Apple needs to fix in an upcoming software update. It appears to be a problem in both iOS 14.1 and iOS 14.2, and it's too soon yet to tell if iOS 14.3 is affected.

I too missed an important (Covid related) messag on my new iPhone 12 Pro, IOS 14.1. However, the message was received on my iPad Mini 5th Generation running 14.1. I have subsequently received messages on my phone from the sender of the missing message. I seem to have received other messages OK on the phone

Apple should have made iMessage compatible for Android, could have avoided WhatsApp taking so much of the market.

Had the problem on my iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 14.2 with iMessages not giving a notification at random.
Now with my iPhone 12 Pro Max on iOS 14.2 the problem is still there.
The wife has the same problem on her iPhone Xs on iOS 14.2.
We didn’t have the problem on iOS 14.1.

It seems that there is a temporary fix for this and so far, has worked all the time for me.

The issue seems to occur when you leave the message app on the current thread, at that point, there are no notifications coming through.

If you swipe back to the message list before locking the phone, then the notifications work as normal

Jason.
