people that complain about the pre-ordering being a **** show - you haven't tried pre-ordering the PS5, XBOX Series X or the NVIDIA RTX 3080 when their pre-orders opened up and the websites didn't even load.
Seriously the Xbox preorder took well over 2.5 hours to finally get one trying on multiple websites.

Bored now. From the store opening about 10 minutes late the delivery date started slipping up to 4/11 at which point I might as well wait for the mini

Snagged a iPhone Pro Pacific Blue with estimated delivery on the 23rd. Only issue is with my qualified trade - so it shows $258 vs. $440 through Verizon. I'm on the phone with them now. If they can't modify the order I will probably just cancel it and wait. Not sure what I had to do to get the full $440. From the looks of it I forgot to "modify my plan" to the 5G? Which I can't get so it's pointless. lol

Are you on an unlimited plan. I just moved from shared data to unlimited for the extra discount.

T-Mobile jumped the gun. I was able to pre-order a solid 10 minutes earlier than 5am. Got 2 new Pros coming on the 23rd!

I noticed that and had my order in there, too. I’m all set on a graphite one for Oct. 23.

I got an iPhone 12 Pro 256GB Graphite, picking it up at the store on Oct 23rd. I'm gonna buy the case and other accessories at the store because I wanted to be fast and not to risk messing up my order.

Wasn't able to get in store pickup for silver 512Gb, but wife got in store pickup for Blue 128Gb. I'm already anxious that she will have hers for a few hours before I get mine

Same exact situation for my mom and me, good thing I took graphite!
Same for pacific blue here. Thank you for sharing the news. It must be pacific blue world wide that is a week later with delivery. I am happy to wait as pacific blue is my colour preference and it will match a lot of my wardrobe plus next year's Apple Watch if there is a blue model series seven.

I am. Unlimited Go, but they said that plan didn't qualify through the chat and then ended the chat abruptly on Verizon. lol. So I'm getting someone on the phone to see if we can figure it out. From the looks of it I'd have to pay $10 more a month for the plan that gets me the extra $200. so I guess it evens out in the end? I can't get 5G in my area but I'll play their game. :)

Worst experience since the 3GS days. Apple had major server overload.

I was sitting at my computer and also had my phone in hand, whichever I could use first. Apple Store app got in first, but major lag and was tryin to check out for 10 minutes. By the time I was able to check out, the dates on the 128 Pacific Blue 12 Pro had already switched a week back to 10/30.

First iPhone in like 5 or so years I won't have on launch day. In days past when it was a 3am EST for pre orders, I'd get up, login at 3, place my order and in 5 minutes I was back in bed asleep. But this year was a total mess.

Someone I read here was right, they made the mistake of allocating too much for store sales this year and not enough for delivers. I can't see as many people go into a store to pick up the phone this year. You figure Tim would know that since he came from logistics, although the man does lack simple common sense though I noticed.

iPhone 12 Pro 256GB Pacific Blue on launch day! Super excited to replace my iPhone X silver.

Double order: one for  Store pick-up and one for Express Delivery. See which processes sooner. Also, ordered some accessoires (afterwards in a seperate order, to speed up the process) with a black silicon case with blue leather pouch. Didn't saw the combination on internet so I Photoshopped it together:

I like that combo!

Had some problems on the website, then remembered you use the iOS app for ordering. Got right through no lag. Blue 128GB iPhone 12. Traded in my iPhone XR for Verizon payments. Couldn't pass up $17.04 a month.

EDIT: Arriving next Friday.

This is BULL!

Apple is trying to get us to risk COVID by prioritising store stock over deliveries.
I've visited my local Apple Store 3 times in the last month, every time in the middle of a weekday afternoon since that's the quietest time. Every time I've had to queue outside to get in, once for over 30 minutes. The store has over 150 display stations (where I'm counting one of the big wooden tables as 8 since they can have up to 8 playing-with-something positions on them for the iPhone and iPad tables for instance) but due to Covid restrictions they are only letting about 6 customers (or couples if shopping together) into the store plus I think 1 Genius bar appointment. If that is what it is like in the quietest mid week times at the moment then I dread to think what it (or my local Apple Store at least) will be like on 12 and 12 Pro release days.

Unless Apple can think of some clever arrangements to speed things up while staying Covid compliant I'm not sure I'd want to be anywhere near an Apple Store on a release day unless I was willing to write of the entire day queuing.

Well that was a disaster.

• Only the iPhone version of the app was live, at 5:01 am. The iPad version and the website were still "getting things ready" for about 5 minutes past 5.

• You cannot use the iPhone app to purchase an installment plan iPhone on your wireless account that isn't the phone you're physically holding. It defaults to the carrier and device you're using, with no way to specify another line on your plan. EDIT: I should clarify, the second option is broken for me. I put in the other devices phone number, the last four of my SSN, and get "An error has occurred" or "Your session has timed out" depending on if I try it on my phone or my Mac.

• Apple will not ship an iPhone to any address on your AT&T account other than the one specified on the account. Sucks when you're trying to get your brother a new iPhone and he lives 400 miles away. So you think you'll try to order from the wireless carrier directly, because they will ship to another address. Only problem is AT&T's website is about as useful as ever and is completely broken. Still barely functioning as I type this at 5:48 am.

In the end I managed to snag my phone (12 Pro, 256 GB, Pacific Blue, full price) at 5:02 am because I had it pre-saved. I got an October 23 arrival date. I ended up getting my brother's phone (12 Pro, 128 GB, Pacific Blue, AT&T installment plan) around 5:23 am from Apple's website. That has a 7 - 10 business days shipping estimate, and I have to ship it to him once it arrives at my house.

Just tons of people buying at the exact same time. I had originally selected gold for my preapproval but switched to blue this morning. Was probably done at 8:03. It doesn't take long for shipping times to slip
I know, i've been doing this for years. Doesn't make it less dissapointing.

OK... got the order placed in the US. I found the process to be less than perfect. There was a 7 minute delay before that "finishing touches" message finally went away. Then after I got the order filled in, it wouldn't allow me to pay cuz it said I didn't have shipping address. I checked my account details, all that info is right there! I tried a couple of other payment routes, and finally it worked. One last little thing.... my case comes two days after my phone. I don't like carrying my phone without a protective case, I must be a bit OCD about things like that.

I had exactly the same problem - it said I didnt have a shipping address which is strange considering I have ordered other things with Apple Pay just fine.
I had a slight panic as I had to fill in all the details manually and I was worried about getting something wrong in my haste, however all seems to have gone through okay (12Pro, 256BG. Graphite).
Decided I would wait for accessories to see what they actually look like.

I must get that Apple Pay issue sorted out though...

I got my order in.

I am in Canada. It took a while to get it all done - felt like the system was overloaded - multiple failures and errors on checkout.

Oct 23 delivery date!

I think the cause of the errors was that I was trying to order on the website from MacBook Pro and also via the iPhone Apple Store app to see which one was fastest.

Next time (Nov 6) I will order using the iPhone app on it's own

Actually it seems like I got 2 orders in and that's a bit unintentional so I'll probably cancel one later or see if a friend wants it.

Gold iPhone 12 Pro 512 - decided on gold because the pro versions are shiny. Whatever - you never see the colour anyways - always in a case.

Hardly...

Proof

6 mins past and online deliveries not on launch date.

15 mins past and you could still pickup locally from London which is now moved into a 'High Risk' classification area for Coronavirus.

I started trying right at 5 am Pacific time... got the finishing touches screen for 6 minutes, got in, placed my order quickly for a 128 12 Pro in Graphite, with a mag safe charger. At checkout, the site crashed, so I went back and did it again, and again, then, by the time I got into the bag, I had three duplicate orders totaling $5K of devices in the bag. After deleting the two extra iPhones and checking out using Apple Pay on my Apple Card, it shows October 28-30 delivery. I felt like I did everything right, but still got it wrong. Mag Safe shows Oct. 21 delivery. Final confirmation came through at 5:28am.
