California Poppy on my white iPhone 12. The color is so nice, but I don’t know how I feel about the aluminum sides showing. I’m not sure if it makes sense to anyone else, but my eyes are drawn to the black bezel then the aluminum side then the orange case - and it’s a lot going on. The buttons are really clicky and the case feels so premium.
I’m also tempted to trade for the saddle brown.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. If you like the color, stick with what you’ve got. The screen is black when off... the back side is the most important part for the color.

Personally, I’d be more nervous about how the California Poppy case will patina. Some leather cases look more dirty than a patina over time.

The Silver and Poppy look really nice. I bought both the Poppy and Saddle Brown to try out with my silver 12PM. Either color will show the silver sides So I say pick what you like best.

Whilst I don't like the Cali Poppy case, I like how you can see the thin silver aluminium edging

Have used the Apple leather cases for as long as I could remember so was disappointed they didn’t have it available at launch. Used the silicone case in the mean time and hated the feel of it.

Finally got my Saddle Brown leather case and the will be returning the silicone case.

Agreed, this is what's holding me back from getting a California Poppy case.

As a follow up to my post for the Amazon Warehouse leather cases, I hope other people had more luck than me with what they received. This was described as Like New condition. Only if like new is after been run over by several Amazon delivery lorries!!!

Omg, I’m so sorry that happened!

I’m also sorry for laughing quite a bit when I saw this. It was just too absurd not to.

I hope you get it sorted out soon without further disappointment.

I do see what you’re talking about here. I think it‘s because the case is such a bright color and the white/aluminum doesn’t contrast properly with the poppy case. I‘d bet it looks amazing in one of the darker ones.

Does anyone know how much drop protection does Apple leather cases offer vs a more rugged Nomad case?

I have a saddle brown case arriving today for my 12 Pro. I did order the clear case at launch but stopped using it almost immediately do to the corner popping issue folks have mentioned. I am really hoping my leather case won't do the same thing!

Despite my disappointment I too laughed at this as it was so obviously not fit for sale. I’ll probably have to pay full price and get a perfect one.

It gives you minor drop protection, but I would not count on it making a big difference for a major drop on an uneven surface. I think that it’s best for scratch and everyday wear and tear protection. On an even surface and maybe waist height drop, you’d probably be fine (though the new ceramic shield glass may be fine for that either way).

Long story short, if you drop your phone a lot, it’s probably not the best case for you.

Saddle / Poppy / Plum silicone.

I was expecting the grip to be better with the silicone but not really IMO and it does grab coming out of the pocket. Also the silicone does feel heavier In the hand (which it does weigh more). Just hoping I dont run into the corners of the 12PM popping out.

I’ve only seen these cases in pictures but can’t say I really see the appeal of them considering they are £59 each. There are a lot of nice cases on the market though and it’s always nice to see what others went with.

Got a second one. Same issue, not as bad as the first, though. I’m waiting at the Apple store now for them to bring me a third one.

I just got the BB for my 12 Pro. I had the plum silicone before. Having always had the leather case before I expected the leather case to be better. In my opinion it is not, it is more slippery and the front lip being lower I am thinking it will offer less protection.

The color is nice and I can’t decide if I want to return it or keep it as a standby.

The 12 Pro Max Brown and Blue leather both look great. Not sure which one I'm going to stick with, but this particular blue is going back because it has some issues around the camera cutout.
- The camera cutout has got quite the lip on it
- The case does not feel too big, the pinky hold will work just fine with the 12 PM (as it did with the 11 PM)
- The leather feels lighter than the sillicone
- That camera is going to be HUGE (last picture has the 11PM camera inside the 12PM case)
- I would say the cases in real life look about as dark as the last picture

No problem with my black leather case on my 12 Pro. Just got it today. It is snugly in the case, and takes some effort to remove the phone from the case. It doesn't easily pop out.

As far as size comparison. It's virtually the same size and thickness as the Caudabe Sheath, perhaps ever so slightly smaller. It's not as grippy as the Sheath, but a little grippier than the 11 Pro leather case, probably because of the square edges.

Third one same issue. I’m starting to wonder if it’s the phone itself not connecting to the case properly? Are these things actually held in magnetically? Took me half a dozen tries to get the MagSafe animation to show up.

I don’t think the magnets do much of anything to hold the cases on. Mine feels tight on the corners and the sides. There’s no way it would come out of the case without me doing so intentionally.

Yeah, I tested my phone on a MagSafe charger in store just to see if there was something weird about my phone, but it stuck solidly. I gave up on the leather cases after the third Cal Poppy one. Thought about trying another color, but I really only like the poppy color way.

So... I don’t know, bad batch? Maybe I’m being overly sensitive? The store employees I spoke with agreed it was coming out too easily, but they didn’t think the case offered a lot of protection even if it did stay in more securely, which I agree with.

It’s too bad though. The blue in poppy looked so damn good, but I can’t get myself to lay out this much money for something I don’t completely love.

Guess I’ll stick to the silicon when I’m around my kids and just go bare until I have to replace the phone. Naked $1000 phone is a pretty sick flex, though I think most people just write you off as stupid. 😜

Finally got the saddle for my 12 Pro. Came here to say that it doesn't look or feel quite as premium as the saddle from my 11 Pro Max, but maybe I've just forgotten what a brand new Apple leather case feels like.

One thing is indisputable: the buttons are freaking MAGIC. After the ridiculously hard-to-press buttons on the cheapie silicone case I was using as a holdover, the Apple ones are a breath of fresh air.

As for hold, I'd say it's easier to get my 12P out than my 11PM. But I wouldn't say it falls out or pops off. We'll see.

Welp, I got it today, put it on and....it does the same thing the clear case did. When I have the phone in my pocket and I even slightly bend my leg (like to put on my shoes) I can feel the phone pop out of the case at a corner. I think this is more to do with the new square edge design of the phone than a defect in the case. The case does not wrap around the front face of the phone hardly at all so there isn't much to retain the phone in the case edge. Combine this with the highly polished edge band of the pro being nice and slick and "pop goes the weasel".

I have already initiated a return on the case. I currently have a Torro leather sleeve I use and it is super high quality. When (if?) the Apple leather sleeves come out I may consider getting one of these in saddle leather but we will see.
