iPhone 12 Apple leather cases?

Received a California poppy leather just now. It looks pretty good. The cutout around the camera hole has that slight gap, it doesn’t necessarily look bad but the one I got has no gap near the top and gap all around the rest of the camera so it looks off. The buttons feel amazing.

The biggest issue is that it does not hold the phone in well at all. I am 100% certain that a drop on the face of the phone will destroy the phone as it pops out so easily. To test this I dropped the phone on it’s face from a height of one inch on to a hard mouse on. Sure enough, the phone popped out and the screen struck the mouse pad.

My silicon case had a simile issue, but the leather one is much much worse. Any drop is going to dislodge the phone from the case. Will probably try to get another one to see if i can get one that holds my phone in and doesn’t have the uneven gap around the camera.

I'd return and replace it then. Probably some duds out there. My Baltic Blue one is nice and tight and doesn't pop out at any corners (or creak or anything). One of my kids knocked my phone off the couch yesterday onto the hardwood floor (face down) and it didn't pop out or loosen up at all.

I definitely experienced some creaking and stuff along the edges with some prior year Apple leather cases though. So I don't think it is new to this year's crop - just normal QA issues.

Is the top left corner seated all the way? It looks different than the other 3 corners of the case.

Does camera bump give some protection or it’s flush ?

For sure on the 12 PM it's actually raised so the phone in the case does not sit flush on the table. Not sure about the regular 12/Pro cases.

Yeah definitely returning it. It just fell out of the case in my hand and scratched the screen against my ring.

Super disappointed. In all the years I’ve had iPhones, I’ve never used a case just a sleeve and never scratched the screen a single time.

My review posted on another thread. I really love this case. I've carried it around a lot today and noticed no tendency of the case to slip off. It is very snug. Hope it stays that way. My unit has a tiny little leather speck in the back, but I don't really mind as hey, this is leather...

I got my Apple Leather case today. Baltic Blue is terrific! A great color that looks darker blue in artificial light but almost shines in sunlight. It's also a perfect color fit with the iPhone's pacific blue.

The fit is perfect - snug, phone holds perfectly in place (what you'd expect from an Apple case, right?). The case is quite thin - I have the impression it's thinner than previous models used to be. It protects the iPhone entirely. No more these bulky edges that used to get worn out or dirty very quickly. Buttons are snug and responsive without being loose. Lip is thin but just right to protect the screen.

The grip is quite comfortable. Feels a little slippery at first if like me you have very dry hands. But somehow that tends to get better with usage.

And... I get the MagSafe animation as well.

Verdict, I'm in love. Definitely my preferred case now with the Caudabe sheath!

I just can't understand how Apple could screw up their clear case so much. It's so different compared to leather and silicone cases, which are perfect.

😂. I should have been a little more clear. There was some movement involved, but not a lot. I moved it from my right hand to my left hand and gripped it by the sides and it popped out and fell in to my hand on my ring. It just takes a slight tap at it

I took it to the Apple store and the guy at the door didn’t believe me either until I showed him. He said it was defective and I could make an appointment in the store or just return and reorder online, which is what I did. Picking up a new one tomorrow. Hopefully goes better than this one because I really love the look.

The ring thing kind of my fault. Knowing it was easily coming out, I should have been more careful. Grasped it quickly when it popped out because I was afraid I was going to drop it. I’ll just get a screen replacement in six months or so in case it gets more scratches.

I just took my phone out of my pocket and the whole phone was coming out of the case, not just one corner.

Will be returning it and reordering, maybe wait a little to get a new batch.

My blue leather case came in today. Looks good, fits well, and no corner issues thus far. It did have a slight smell of leather. I wiped it down with some Griots leather rejuvenator and now smells much better.

On edit: The grip on the case is quite nice- much more grippy than the 11 pro leather case.

Phone goes in the case a little too easily. The one I got was apparent just from that. A slight tap against the palm and you’ll know if it’s as loose as mine was.

It sounds like this isn’t that wide spread of an issue though or I’d think we’d see a lot more issues here. I’ll update again tomorrow when I get my replacement.

The silicone ones have the same issue. I had to return mine. I occasionally needed to push a corner in to re-seat the phone. I think it's a delicate balance of friction and magnetic power holding the phone in place.

There’s definitely some inconsistencies with the cases this generation. I felt that way about my silicone case, like it would slip out given half a chance. Conversely, the leather is so tight I actually checked how to put it on properly before forcing it the wrong way. It’s tight as a Duck’s a***.

Surprised to hear about issues of the phone popping out. Both by Baltic blue and saddle brown fit tight and snugly on the iPhone 12 Pro and no chance of it falling out. Maybe exchange it at apple and see if a new one is better?

Yep, I think I see it...a tiny scuff on one of the edges. Meh, you won’t even notice it after a while.

Yes sadly they neglected to say the contents is also badly damaged.

The first of my Pro 12 leather cases has arrived. Baltic Blue and it looks fine. No scratches or blemishes. I dont have a phone to put in it as my 12 Pro hasn't arrived yet. My 12 Pro max arrives tomorrow but I have already made a decision to return it as looking at the youtube reviews, it has made my mind up that its going to be just a little too large so it goes back as soon as it arrives and I am waiting for the Pro to arrive. My 11 pro max was on the limit and I said I would never go larger than that.
Just done a comparison of the leather Pro 12 case with one of my 11 Pro Max cases and I am convinced the the Pro is going to be the perfect size. Now waiting for the Californian Poppy to arrive on Sunday from Amazon. This will be New and not "like new". I don't want a crumplegate

Bad move, this could be a new trend in case design!!! I suspect this case was originally returned to Amazon for the same issue I’m not returning it.
