Anyone care to guesstimate the PPI of each model's screen? I'd hope that with OLED technology, they switch to >326ppi on the non-Pro models. However, there may not be enough difference between the non-Pro and Pro models to warrant the price difference.

I would be surprised if the PRO and PRO Max don't increase in price. The larger screens and 5G will add cost to the phones and Apple won't want to give up margin. I see both PRO models increasing in price.

I doubt it. Apple has increased screen sizes and put new technology devices in iphones many times before without raising prices.

It’s time that Apple stops reserving OLED to the high end pro phones, not comparing iPhone to Android but even some low end Android phones have OLED. The iPhone 11 should have been OLED the iPhone SE should be the only exception to keep the cost down.

OLED only? Gah... :(

Terrible news for people sensitive to PWM.

It’s time that Apple stops reserving OLED to the high end pro phones, not comparing iPhone to Android but even some low end Android phones have OLED. The iPhone 11 should have been OLED the iPhone SE should be the only exception to keep the cost down.

Then people who physically can't use their OLED implementation would have had zero new options until the new SE came out.

Well the extra features will likely also be

Bigger sensors
Night mode on all camera lens
Bigger battery

However at this stage not sure what else.

The other stuff helps, but won't help make my choice more difficult. It would come down to the screen and that's about it because anything better than the XS camera is good enough for me (the 11's system is better, so yeah). The XS' system is pretty good as it is.

First, John Prosser is my new ‘Go-to’ source.

Second, This is probably one of the best years I’ve ever for Apples lineup in terms of having a price point/size iPhone for everyone. If this rumor proves to be true, they’re literally have a target demographic for every consumer all the way from a $399 iPhone To the Max Pro.

(Personally, I also hope there will be a keynote this year, but I’m sure it will be in a much different form if there is one.)

So with 4 new phones + the new SE what older models (if any) does Apple keep in the lineup?

And if the non-pro models are also OLED will they also have smaller bezels or will they keep larger bezels as another way of making the pro models look more premium?

Maybe XR in the missing $549 price point?

Edit: nah, others already pointed out iPhone 11 hanging around. That’ll be the $5xx price range.

I hope the rumors are incorrect about an all OLED lineup. Otherwise the 11 is likely the last smartphone I and many others with migraines can buy until some new tech solves the problems with PWM flickering. At least as far as good phones go.

I don't get the OLED hype. LCDs have become so good these past few years and don't burn in, deteriorate quite a bit with use, or flicker. Issues which LCDs used to have but that has been solved years ago and now we're trading them for another technology which again has all these issues?

Well, given 6.1 is the current size of the XR, which I find too big, 5.4 it is! And it’s OLED!
Doesn't the XR have TouchID? If so, the new phone will be smaller unless it's OLED+TouchID.

What, exactly, is the big benefit of LiDAR for most users? I understand that it will help with AR and give you a more accurate measuring tool - but that's pretty niche. How many people will shell out an extra $350 for an extra camera lens, this LiDAR, maybe a faster screen (mostly useful for gaming) and maybe square edges? Surely there must be more to the "Pro" series? Personally, the only way I'd be going "Pro" is if that camera setup has significantly better optical zoom. Otherwise, I'll go for the 5.4".

will a 5.4 screen look long as the iPhone 11 6.1 screen?
for me 5.5" looked better than a longer screen

With a future lineup like that, makes you wonder if they actually end up dropping the numbers from models, since they could be iPhone Pro, iPhone and iPhone SE, or maybe iPhone Pro, iPhone Air, iPhone SE?

I’ve been wanting that ever since iPhone 4S wasn’t called iPhone 5. Yikes, what a burn those 4S rumors were back then. I held out hope with iPhone X as that could’ve been the transition point for people; letter, not number, then they could just let it all go. But noooo.. “iPhone 11”, ugh so stupid it doesn’t even look good in print.

Numbers should’ve dropped from iPad after the 3rd/4th gen fiasco, too. I thought “iPad Air” was gonna be it. Then Cook uttered “iPad Air 2” and I just groaned... finally they did it with iPad mini 3/4 and iPad proper after the “Air 2”.

Maybe this year, tho... 🤞

We get that the price will start at $649 and notch-less iPhone 12.

Apple new accessory lightning to camera module is for people who wish to make a facetime call.

Obscene prices, especially during a unprecedented health and economic crisis. But for Apple, business as usual.

I would like to remind Tim Cook that Apple must first pay taxes in Europe, then build repairable computers, respecting the rights of workers, and then he have the right to make moral and ecological sermons.

For me the decision will come down to difference in battery life between the 5.4 and 6.1. If there is a significant difference in battery life 6.1 will be the one for me.

Undoubtedly, that requires lithium-sulfur battery with 5 days of battery life will be coming to the iPhone 12s.

With Covid-19 I wonder if the iPhone SE abs iPhone 11 (the latter at a lower price point) will be Apple’s best selling phones of 2020-21?
