Two of the last four iPhones I’ve ordered directly through Apple. Those two iPhones ordered directly through Apple have been delivered the day before release day each time. As long as you’re within the first percentage of orders, you do have a probability of receiving the device a day before release.
Do you live near a distribution center? When I lived in Memphis, I could count on getting anything from FedEx a day early.

It is nothing more than Apple being set in its ways and not wanting to establish a new precedence for future releases that may or may not be staggered.
I’d imagine that focusing the early deliveries around one day saves Apple a lot of money in shipping. They likely get a cut rate for the volume shipped at once, and it doesn’t overload the shipping system as they’re not overnight packages.

I believe other companies with high demand products (Sony, Microsoft) also focus on a single day.

I ordered my Pacific blue 256GB at 8:00 EST and at around 11:00 am it was preparing to ship but then when I checked later that night it went back to processing anyone know why?

Just wondering... Is this normal? Mine is still Processing but some of you guys are already preparing on shipment status. I ordered mine when they open the pre-order.

What should I do?

That is a very good point I had not considered.

I just did store pickup end of story I’d rather get it on time than early vs getting 2-3 weeks later like some...I opted for the 256 model graphite I was debating 512 but that’s so many picture or videos to keep I usually just back up because eventually either you may lose your phone something happens and you never backed up 🤷🏽‍♂️

A little disappointed in apple. Spent an hour trying to get the shipping changed to their store or order cancelled and couldn’t. UPS sucks where I’m at and doesn’t arrive until like 7-8pm. This requires a signature doesn’t it?

Create a UPS My Choice account and they will let you do a shipment release authorization, meaning you don’t have to be physically home to sign for it.

Don't you guys have pickup points in the U.S? In Europe we can choose where to pickup our packages. I have my local 24/7 - 7-11 where we can pick it up day or night :)

We do but, if we change it to a retail access location, that can delay delivery by a day. If someone has a UPS locker access near by, one could change delivery to that point and pick up on launch day. I don’t have the latter nearby and don’t want to risk having delivery delayed with a retail access point, not to mention it could get conveniently lost at the access point and then I am screwed.

Oh... We have the package insurance. If not signed by reciever they can't withdraw the credit card.

My guess it has more to do with customer service calls. If someone online reports they got their phone early then you'll have hundreds of thousands of other customers calling to ask why they didn't get their phone early too.

Just a guess.

Can't believe what happened. I'm desperate to dump my OP7. Stood there refreshing constantly. The apple web site must have had a bug as it wasn't until I visited the US store that the bit about getting the apple store ready changed and that was 20 minutes past the pre-order time.

So mine currently says 30 Nov and my watch arrives tomorrow (9 Nov). I hope the watch warranty starts on activation as otherwise its going back as I dont want to lose a month of warranty.

I'm in the UK.
