UPS already had tracking status for my order (blue Pro Max) when I signed in. It's showing in ZhengZhou right now.

EDIT: I meant to also add that, according to Apple, my status is still "preparing to ship."

Can't believe what happened. I'm desperate to dump my OP7. Stood there refreshing constantly. The apple web site must have had a bug as it wasn't until I visited the US store that the bit about getting the apple store ready changed and that was 20 minutes past the pre-order time.

So mine currently says 30 Nov and my watch arrives tomorrow (9 Nov). I hope the watch warranty starts on activation as otherwise its going back as I dont want to lose a month of warranty.

I'm in the UK.
Best to use the app. The website is always late. I completed the order from UK by 1:03PM on the app, and it wasn’t till 1:15PM that the websitecame back up for me.

pretty sure canadian 12 pro max orders are preparing for shipment now. Also i think apple has switched it to contactless delivery, aka no signature required.

How are you getting detailed tracking info from UPS? When I put my phone number in the track by reference, it says they're only showing the basic info for privacy reasons.

It is nothing more than Apple being set in its ways and not wanting to establish a new precedence for future releases that may or may not be staggered.
I think normally they give themselves that extra buffer because the new devices are literally rolling off the assembly line. This year it seems like the extra time allowed them to bank additional inventory.

With the latest Apple Watch, however, it went on sale pretty much immediately after it was announced and began shipping very quickly after that. Apple does seem to be more elastic in its rollouts this year due to the pandemic, in ways that are sometimes surprising and at other times frustrating. This is all uncharted territory.

I don’t get it, I ordered with Sprint at 7:57 est graphite iPhone pro max and mine says 11/24 ship date. Everyone else that I’m reading and even on apple it says the 13th. Kinda annoyed

How did you order it? Was it their Sprint app pre-order service? The whole "beat the rush Priority Status" deal? I ordered a phone via this and they have the money but I'm getting no information whatsoever as to when it might arrive or even that I'm getting it other than their website says I've got a device agreement. I keep thinking I probably should have gotten it via Apple but because I'm a longtime customer they're giving me additional $ off the price. So...
I wait.

I read something on another site that said for some reason you can't order with an iPhone or iPad as it won't work. How messed up is that?

All 5 of the ones I’ve upgraded show preparing to ship on AT&Ts order status page but when I try to track via UPS My Choice using my phone number as the reference number nothing is found. Does this only work if ordering from Apple directly?

I tried five times to place an order in the app on my iPhone (from Canada) and it produced errors each time it went to complete the payment, telling me to try again. While the web site was later in allowing me in at all, I was able to actually complete a purchase. Basically it took 15 minutes of hammering on it both in the app and on the web site before I was able to successfully place an order. My son was luckier and was able to place an order through the app after less than five minutes of trying. No doubt load on the infrastructure was an issue, but I think once you've got customers with product and payment selected in the app, having it fail is a bug (since you have an app you should be able to handshake in some manner to throttle requests). Computers were implementing flow control in the 1960s, you'd think Apple in 2020 could do something here.

You will get it on launch day. It’s a one in 1 million chance you’ll get it early

I wonder if Apple should relax the hold in places in lockdown. Everyone is relying on deliveries, and I’m not sure people in general will welcome added pressures on deliveries and a poor experience of late deliveries in places in full lockdown, where Apple stores are not doing in-store pick ups or sale on launch day. If the phones are already there, why not spread it out over Wednesday - Friday?

I ordered ten minutes after pre-order opened and mine has just started saying Preparing To Ship two hours ago.

I think they went to “preparing to ship” just to lock the orders down. Mine has been stuck at it for awhile.

iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max pre-orders just went live this morning, but some customers who placed orders are already seeing those orders shift over to the "preparing to ship" status.

Orders that are preparing to ship are no longer able to be canceled, and soon those orders should be able to be tracked using methods like UPS My Choice and track by reference number in the United States. The first customers who ordered this morning will see their devices arriving on Friday, November 13.

Supplies of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max have been adequate, though some iPhone 12 Pro Max colors and capacities from some carriers will not arrive until later in November or early December for orders placed now.

Many iPhone 12 mini models appear to be in stock and available for launch day delivery, and for those able to pick up in a store, most iPhone 12 Pro Max and 12 mini models continue to be available for launch day pickup in some areas.

According to spot checks done by Loup Ventures, the 128GB iPhone 12 Pro Max in Pacific Blue appears to be one of the most highly sought after models, alongside the iPhone 12 Pro in the same color.

I did store pickup so I could give them my "old" phone on the spot. Always do this, we won't see any shipping info for in-store pickup.

I was going to but through decluttr and the 10% code here I picked up an extra $150 for my 11pro. $600 for this made the mini a no brained for me.

Yeah I used to sell my old phone vs trading for the extra money as the market value was always higher than the loan, but it’s too much of a hassle selling and then paying fees and shipping. Not worth $100.

I ordered the iPhone 12 Pro Max (128 GB, Graphite) from AT&T within minutes after pre-orders went live. Order status has been at "Preparing to Ship" since Saturday. Last night I received notification from Fed-Ex that my shipping label has been created. Right now the expected ship date is Thursday, the 12th, with delivery on Friday the 13th via Fed-Ex Overnight shipping. (shipping from Texas)

For those that ordered through AT&T, setup a FedEx account and check that. It appears AT&T is shipping via FedEx where Apple is shipping via UPS.

I ordered on launch day (around 11am CST) a Pacific Blue PM and it has been showing as 'Preparing to Ship' since the day after. I had been checking UPS based on info found on the forums and did not see a tracking number. I just checked FedEx and there is a tracking label there and it is showing that it will be delivered on the 13th.

Shipping method is: 'FedEx Standard Overnight-Deliver Weekday,Residential Delivery' and it will be shipped out on the 12th.

As the previous user mentioned, it is coming from Ft. Worth, Texas.
