iPad Pros had similar issues that were never fixed?
touch disease, touch issues, yes, onwards of the first gen Pros. I followed till the third gen pros.

Not every iPad Pro had it. But it become worse each generation. Was probably a small (probably sub 10%) percentage of users but they were vocal and the issues legit. Threads with hundreds of pages. Never got fixed. Was a hardware issue.

I am not saying that is the case here. Just do your homework before purchase to be extra sure.

To temporarily solve the problem, we cut off the end of a lightning cable and plug it into the phone, making care not to break off said cable in the phone. :D. Levity aside, glad that member’s wife did the test.

As a developer, it seem to be a f**** layout issue. I had same issues with one of my app.
I've bad develop the layouts, and UIButton appears on screen but was outside his parent view bounds. So button visible, but out of frame, so not touch responding.
I suspect same issue here, like a sort of 5.8" and higher UI not adapted to 5.4. And when you plug something, UI adapts I don't know how they have manage the Lock Screen.
I'm confident that this will be fix by software update. :)

Great then. But if many people don’t have this issue, it might not be a bug. If everybody has it, probably a bug.

To sum it up for everyone the issue only happens with screen protector and case on. We don’t need to know that it works with one or the other.

A bug can be intermittent and only a select group using the phone and or app in a certain way experience the bug. Group size is not always indicative of whether or not something is a software bug.

it can be. But if every single person has the same issue, I’m confident it will be fixed asap. If it’s a small group, Apple might even ignore it.

If you look at developer site, iOS 14.2 seems weird. No possibility to find iPhone 12 mini (iPhone 13,1) firmware.
And iPhone 12 firmware is labeled iPhone13,4 (which is iPhone 12 Max), iPhone 12 Max is labeled iPhone13,2 (which is iPhone 12)
C'm'on Apple ^^

Edit: iOS 14.3 beta 1 has the same iPhone id mistake 😱🥳

I am having the same issue on the iPhone 12 mini. It is also affecting my touch pad when on the telephone. I can not press keypad buttons when on a call. Going back to home screen and the back to phone keypad buttons resolves the issue until the phone dims down or locks and the problems comes back. I have called Apple and reported this to them, after being on the phone for many hours and after speaking to five representative, I have now being advised to wipe my new phone using a computer using iTunes to reset the software. I don’t know if this will help. Not very happy with my new phone today. Also Whilst trying to go back to the home screen when on the telephone I have hung up accidentally on two occasions already by swiping the hangup icon.

😱

That is true. And that is why the more people reporting, the better our chance to get it fixed. It also helps that MacRumors wrote an article. I haven’t seen any other articles about this.

i have no idea about this issue. Nor do I know how severe it is. So I’m not the right person to comment on this. I don’t know whether it’s widespread or not. MR should investigate I guess.

Are you going to attempt DFU? And if so, did Apple tell you how to invoke it?

I’m having the same issues with my Mini. Also the audio on my speakerphone is not very loud either. I’ve tried with case on and off and it doesn’t seem to make any difference when swiping. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I might try calling Apple but I’m seriously thinking this phone might be going back. I’m so disappointed.
