Ok so everyone please LISTEN UP!!⭐️

spent about 4-5 hours in contact with Apple. Helpline > helpline > helpline > helpline senior advisor > engineer

Engineer says this is NOT LOGGED as an issue by Apple. Said that they don’t take info from Apple discussions site or macrumours or any online forums into account.

have advised I return my phone for replacement.

So, people please get onto Apple support and log your issue!
I made a report last night and thanks for taking the time to talk to the Engineer. Advising you return the phone is a waste of time, as another one in stock is going to do the same thing. He may have known that but, he had to go through the steps just the same.

Reported using the above link.

I’d be interested to know how people get on with their replacement phones they’ve been advised to get. I can’t see that helping.

Where, if anywhere, do Apple publicly acknowledge issues like this? Do they have a known issues page?
I don’t believe it will. However, it is standard Apple protocol to tell customer to reset all settings, restore phone and set up as new, and then return phone for a new one.

My phone was made 11/2 as probably many, if not most here were as well. If it is a batch issue, it may be a very large one. I think it is a software problem as mentioned yesterday.

I think given that people have taken them back and have reported the same issues that it is perhaps not a specific batch. Especially when you factor in that I am in the UK and have exchanged messages with people with the same issue from all over the world.

A temporary work around that bypasses Lock Screen swipe

Settings > Accessibility > Back Tap > toggle on > set to home

From Lock Screen double tap the back of your case, and it will take you directly to Home Screen with no swiping involved.

If you are prompted with the passcode screen, simply double tap the back of your case and your passcode will automatically be inputted and send you to Home Screen.

With this work around, you shouldn’t need to use tin foil on the side of the case or touch the camera circles.

Also have this issue, mostly on lock screen. I have a screen protector but no case.

Potential work around for those having issues swiping up to unlock: Back tap
Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back tap
Set double tap to Home Screen

EDIT: Ooops, just saw that Apple_Robert just posted this

Dam got to excited thought it had fixed, was charging while doing the update and playing around everything seems fine like others was saying working fine when kept power cord in. Then I realised that, unplugged it same thing happen with Lock Screen issue. My bad

Could someone articulate write a template describing the issue that users here have so they can just copy and paste it to make it easier to give apple feedback. I'll then post it in the first post with link to the apple feedback.

I can confirm that iOS 14.3 public beta also doesn't resolve the issue.
I can also back this up having just installed myself.

Contacted Apple support again (3rd time) who ran deep diagnostics, as expected this came back clean.

They are still insisting upon replacing the device even after me explaining how others have done the same with no success.

Maybe I should kept with my Samsung note 10 instead of a change, did a swap with apple and now this sigh......

I'm including this in the first post, please let me know if I should change it?

"There is a problem with the lock screen not detecting presses on the camera, flashlight or anything
unless you press very gently.
Issue only occurs when using BOTH a screen protector and a case.
If you touch something conductive like the frame or the camera lens frame it works
."

I think by now, Apple knows about the issue. It’s all over the internet now,I just gotten off with support from apple, schedule them to give me a call tomorrow to see what is the resolution , if nothing imma going to ask refund and return the unit.

I'm a huge Apple fanboi but I have to admit this is a huge embarrassment for Apple. How this problem slipped through the cracks is astonishing.

With that said, I've shelled out another $60 for a Pikata case which I believe will resolve the issue for me.

As annoying as it is, returning the device and going for another iPhone model seems extreme, especially when everything else is near on perfect. Just remove the screen protector for the time being?!

Just wait and see what happens in the next week, I’m sure Apple will acknowledge and fix the issue.
