The point of this thread is making having both screen protector and case on causes issues.

you either don’t have a case or don’t have a screen protector or you have tiny fingers.

Same deal here after many hours on the phone. Senior technician said they're aware of the issue but still don't belive that it's affecting all devices. Apparently they're sending me another version of the leather magsafe case.

I thought it's pretty obvious that it's not the case by plenty of video showing the same problem in another device case (iPhone 7 Plus case, Pixel case)?

So I’m having the exact same issue too with my iPhone 12 mini 128gb white device.

I contacted Apple explaining the issue and that basically every other 12 mini owner I’ve talked to about it has the same issue and that it’s all over the internet (have you guys ever contacted Apple via iMessage? It’s way faster usually as you don’t have to wait on hold like you do on the phone, and you can go about your day and just respond to them like you would any other regular iMessage) and they said:

What I will need to do is go ahead and get you in contact with our phone support team to take a deeper look into this. There is a possibility that we will need to get our Engineers involved. If that happens to be the case, our Senior advisors over phones will also be maintain a constant communication to work with you on this to ensure we can get this sorted out.
“

They said they’d give me a call back tomorrow. Will let you guys know how it goes!

I habe this problem, too?
I also recognized, that the keyboard doesnt work properly, when you want to write a message for example in whatsapp, while hearing a voice message at the same time.
the Keyboard ist kinda very delayed.
With a cable or the device grounded all problems disaper.
Dose someone else have this Problem, too?

The same here.
Just tried it and replicated that error.
Tip of the thumb works, bigger surface area doesn’t.
Same problem as in the lockscreen.

KEEP CALLING APPLE. If we all call & let them know & bug them they will have no choice, but to fix the issue. You’re not wasting your time. Call twice a day like me. I’m very upset with them. Very disappointed.

What version of the mini do you have? 64gb/128gb/256gb? I have 256gb

color? I have blue.

it could be a batch issue on certain models. I’m definitely getting the error
 
Ive experienced no issues with swiping up from Lock Screen since getting my phone a few days ago. Once or twice the camera didn’t trigger on first thumb press and no issues related to the flashlight. I have a thin Pitaka Air case so I’m not sure if that matters.

My description of the problem:



MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IPHONE 12 mini. Possible faulty touch screen displays causing Lockscreen issues where you cannot unlock your phone without FaceID. I & thousands of others have the issue & it sucks. DO NOT let Apple sweep this under the rug. Call them & report it if you are experiencing this issue please:

To see if you have the problem on your 12 or 12 mini, do the following:



  • If you have the 12 mini & you have a protector case, try unlocking your phone using “only one hand/only your thumb”. Make sure that no part of your hand is touching the bare phone. The problem occurs ONLY when you have a case (barrier if you will) between your hand & the phone frame. If the Lock screen is unresponsive or sporadic ... your phone is effected by the glitch or hardware issue...nobody knows which it is yet.


***This occurs:



A. Only with a protector case installed that forms a physical barrier between your hand & the metal frame of the phone. Screen protector doesn’t matter...just the case.



B. One handed operation



C. After Face ID fails to recognize your face (due to wearing a mask) & prompts you to “swipe up to unlock”, by inputting your passcode



D. When your phone is locked & an incoming call comes in asking you to swipe to answer.



E. On the Lock Screen, the flashlight & camera icons will also be unresponsive



***In all scenarios A-E above, the iPhone 12 mini touch screen will act sporadically & unresponsive. This makes the lives of 1st responders like myself, harder. The only solution is to not use a protector case really, which isn’t ideal with a $700-$1,000 phone.

I’ve been having this issue too but haven’t tried to rigorously document it like some in this thread have. 128 GB mini in Green here.

My concern is if hardware is indeed a factor, what will Apple do for those of us who bought from a carrier? Would a replacement for this be covered for replacement under Apple care?

I’m on T-Mobile and have $415 in rebates etc. already processing / applied, and I am not keen on the nightmare it might be to unwind this in order to return the 12 mini before the return period closes. Anyone have a suggestion of what options are realistic / prudent?

Well, yes. just until you'll get a scratch on your screen. One you wouldn't have gotten it you have had a screen protector on.

Holy f! You’re right! Until now I was sure it is Lock Screen issue only. I am no expert but it is so bizarre it needs to be software related.

You know what, try to hear the voice message on AirPods or other headphones, then it is working , what’s going on 😅😂
