Maybe you have access to a top secret survey no one else has seen, but logically it doesn't make much sense that people are bypassing the Mini for the sole reason that the battery lasts an hour less when all iPhone practically last the entire day on one charge.

What? I "bypassed" the mini because I rather have better cameras. Battery life isn't too much of an issue anymore for me due to constant topping off via wireless charging.

I'm surprised the SE sales figures aren't higher. Best deal in a new smartphone. I'm also surprised the 12 Pro Max sales figures are so high. So many people struggling through the pandemic yet they're willing to spend almost as much as a used car for a telephone.
I watched people spend their $1200 on nothing they needed and the next week, they had to remove a loaf of bread because they couldn't afford it.

Majority of the current iPhone mini users maybe iPhone 5 design loyalists, but they are very loyal. Economies of scale suggest it will fly off the shelf when it becomes 3rd generation iPhone SE.

Having said that, this is not a good sign for those that wants iPhone 13/14 Pro mini.

I get a chuckle when I hear or read about how "no one wants an iPhone mini" and that the battery sucks and seemingly no one can make it through a day with an iPhone mini.

Was time for my wife and I to upgrade; we both bought Minis. Granted we're what, 2 months in? Not a huge sample size -- but for 2 people who are on their phones I would guess a normal if not higher than normal amount (because pandemic), we've yet to run out of battery at the end of a normal day, which starts with usage at 5:45am or 6:00am and ends around 23:00.

Can't argue with sales numbers; but to somehow say that it's a "terrible battery life phone" or "it will not last a day" or "no one wants it, obviously" and should be discontinued is a bit much. Instead, probably more fair to say that--sure, it's not for everybody...but there are plenty of iPhone mini owners who are likely happy and satisfied and make it through an entire day with some kind of normal usage pattern. We're two of them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That’s not true. At all.
I very much want a smaller phone and my wife loves her mini. I ended up going with the pro for the camera features but if the mini had these camera features I wouldn’t have hesitated.
mans im sure I’m not alone. Plenty of people want a smaller phone, but prioritize camera quality.
There are physics laws. You can’t make a light, small, thin phone with great cameras and good battery life. That’s the real reason why the Pro Max has a larger sensor than the Pro, not because Apple wants to downgrade the standard Pro.

Is this in America? I haven't seen anything in my area much less on t.v.. although I don't want a lot of mainstream t.v. channels.
Yes, here's a website of just how many Apple billboards are all over LA. They also had a pretty strong advertising campaign on TikTok, they were the first ad you'd see when you opened the app. I know this site hates TikTok, but that reaches millions of eyes a day.

This doesn't really prove anything. With the mini being released after the initial offering from Apple, it makes sense that sales would be down, especially over the holidays. Apple hasn't really promoted the mini in any meaningful way. A lot of people probably don't even know a new mini exist (outside of forums like this). Over a longer time frame, I think sales for the mini will pick up.

You've got to be kidding. The 12 Pro Max was also "released after the initial offering" but the sales of that model is about 400% higher.

Apple hasn't promoted the mini in any meaningful way? If you visit apple.com, the first thing you see is "iPhone 12 from $699."

I love the mini but I kind of saw that coming to be honest. It's price is up there(cost me 1050 euros for the 256 model) and for most people bigger screen just means more phone. Unless Samsung and the rest offer a smaller size phone, I don't think Apple will bother to keep and update a mini phone in its lineup.

Not to mention the pandemic hit the world particularly hard as 2020 was coming to an end. I think that also contributed to the lower than anticipated figures.

I am talking about tv advertisements and the like, JPack. I didn't expect the mini to have high sales this go -round given the big phone competition but, I had hoped for a little better.

I knew it! It used to be so fashionable to go around tirelessly complaining that Apple needs to make smaller phones, but this proves it — nobody actually wants that.
I upgraded from my 11 Pro (first new phone in 5 years) to the mini specifically for the size. We exist, but are clearly nowhere close to a majority. This will be my iPhone for the next 5 years and I couldn’t be happier with it 🤷‍♂️

My phone is the original SE 128GB. I prefer the size and having looked and held the Mini I know it will work for me.

But the reason I haven’t bought one?
The iPhone SE is still supported with the latest OS. I have no reason to upgrade.

Love my Mini! It's the phone I've been waiting for for years. My only gripe is the choice to do wide angle instead of zoom for the second lense and the battery life. I'm so happy with my Mini especially with how close the mini and the pro are now. The fact that they added OLED to the midrange phones was huge.
Me too! I've got my mini a couple days ago and I am very pleased with it. I finally have a PERFECT smartphone again, not a huge, ugly phablet.

But i got a mini for every person in my family of 4 for $700. Spent ~ $175 each for iPhone 8 to trade in. Yes, I’m stuck with my carrier for 2 years but they are the cheapest by far and I’ve been with them for 10 years. Don’t see moving anytime soon.
Yes that's an exclusion to the actual problem.

If a person goes into Apple and sees a 12 mini for $29 a month or the regular 12 at $33 a month, the value is better for the 12 at $4 a month extra.

But the 6% is equal to 10 million in sales over a year! So, maybe fewer want it, but they still sell 10 million copies of it, which is huge for some phone manufacturers.
