90% here, 8 months and 157 cycles. Called Apple, they said it's "normal" that every 15 cycles battery loses 1% capacity. I say that's ********. Never did I have an iPhone battery lose capacity so quickly.
That’s [bleeep]. My iPhone X is on 158 cycles and still has 100% capacity while my 12 pro has 109 cycles and 90% capacity, so fairing even worse than yours. Also doesn’t Apple’s own documentation say that it should retain at least 80% capacity after 500 cycles? The way things are heading, there’s going to be a lot of replacement battery claims in the coming months.

Somehow I'm at 394 cycles (according to the analytics logs) and am at 88% battery life. I have no idea how my cycle count is that high, but I guess 88% isn't that bad then.

Launch day iPhone 12 Pro

“Up to” not “at least“ but 500 cycles is the estimated usage point when a battery could/should be replaced.
Apple said:

iPhone Owners

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery.

The way things are heading, there’s going to be a lot of replacement battery claims in the coming months.
The following is a little evidence to the contrary.
Launch day 12 Pro Max. Cycle count 172. Battery health 96%
If overall linear, 80% won’t be reached until ~860 cycles.

The pro max does seem to be fairing better than other iPhone 12s from what I’ve read. If you have a look at the battery health survey thread, nearly 70% of people are reporting worse battery degradation than previous iPhones. OK this isn’t a scientific survey and macrumors forum members probably aren’t representative of the general population of iPhone users, but it does suggest a more fundamental problem than just the odd phone.

Could there be some lower quality batteries (cost saving, manufacturing limits, or other)? Yes.

However, I think, two other factors are very probable culprits:

• iPhone 11 series battery capacities spoiled expectations for routine upgraders.
• Apple may have misjudged just how much pulling back to XS series battery capacities while adding certain improvements was impactful.
— Not only 5G but slightly larger screens (i.e. more pixels) and Dolby Vision HDR recording, just to name a few.

Compared to my 89 cycle count and 84% Health, it's good. But like Apple said "normal."
BULL!

Yet..oddly every since I upgraded t0 14.7, this Battery Health has stayed at 84 for over a month now. May sound good for many, not me.I said it before, I WANT this battery to drop to 80% as soon as possible to get the battery replaced free. Ugh, whatever the case...at this point if I have to pay $69 for the replacement, fine!

My launch 12 pro dropped from 99% in January to 90% by the first week of June. The battery has stayed at 90% since that time. Not sure what changed but seems my rapid battery health decline has stabilized.

What iOS are you on?

Currently on iOS 15 beta 5. Moved to PB 15 at beta 4 and was on iOS 14.7.1 before that

Wow! I got my iPhone 12 Pro on November and mine still has 100% battery health. Seems like it really makes a different to try to keep battery level between 20-80%. I’ve been trying to follow this ”rule” and hardly ever charge my phone up to 100%.

my launch day 12 pro is at 86% with 234 cycles. Since I started checking a month ago, it's been losing 1% every week. I'm hoping to get the Iphone 13 when it comes out next month so hoping I won't need to have the battery replaced before trading it in.

Launch day 12 pro max, on the iOS 15 beta train, fast charge 20W charger, switched to belkin 3-1 MagSafe charger, 15W charging.

Battery health still 100% only charge phone in the morning to 100%.

84% with 91 cycles. Just sad!

I plan to keep this until iPhone 14 and hoping this battery drops below 80% before Nov. (It was dropping fast, 1-2% every 7-10 days but ever since updating to 14.7, this battery health has stayed ay 84% since. How interesting.)

Whatever..if I have to drop the $69 bucks after Nov, so be it.

But yeah I get it, resell value for those wanting to upgrade from 12 to 13s are a bit tricky with many dealing with these extremely poor battery levels now. SMH.

I have the same , my battery health is 94%. I brought the phone 12 pro on December 2020 with my friend.
He use 4G network and his battery health after 8 months is 100% and for mine go 94%.
I think 5G will cause the phone battery health drop more as the phone is hotter

Launch day iPhone 12 Pro Max, battery health is still at 97 % but I have definitely noticed a drop in battery life. I used to charge my iPhone AFTER waking up in the morning to 100 % and it would last me until the next morning with still around 40+ % left (I do use it a lot) but now I have to charge it in the evening already and then again during the day. I am so "anal" about it that I have already tried resetting all settings and keep checking what settings I may need to turn off but I do not know. This has happened to me on every iPhone I have ever owned for some reason. First impression is great but few months in and I am always checking settings. Maybe it is also an personal obsessive issue LOL

Haha… personal obsession <> hobby, what’s the difference?

On your next phone, you should try a ‘custom optimization’ cycling ~80-20 (based on your 60% initially usage), automated with a smart plug. I personally only use ~50% batt/day and have no noticeable loss in runtime after 2yrs.
